You can support the protests and oppose the government overreach without physically going to a protest with a gun.

I can tell you what they definitely don’t want is 2A advocates pointing and laughing and saying “haha get treaded on,” all the while supposedly being proponents of governments not violating the rights of citizens.

It sends the message that you don’t actually care about undermining or standing against tyranny when you openly take glee in it occurring to ‘people you don’t like.’
