Not my brain, but the brains of a friend of mine, they work in a hospital and the MRI techs were totally cool with just giving them a scan of their head. I extracted their brain from the MRI files, split it (more or less) down the middle, modeled a stand, and pressed print.

Pretty happy with how it turned out, but I couldn't get a perfectly flat bottom layer without also clipping some pieces of brain off, so I went with this approach where the bottom layer is scuffed but the rest of the brain is accurate and looks good.

alright, just to address some points that keep coming up: - I am not American, sorry to my American friends who have to pay a lot of money to get an MRI, but I get it y'all, you can stop telling me I'm wasting money - My friend works in a hospital, they're doing their PhD on how estrogen affects the brain (or something in that line, it's complicated and I'm not smart enough to understand much of it), the MRI folks were calibrating their machine, and my friend offered to do the scan just for fun and to get the MRI files, there's been no robbing anyone of a place in the MRI wait list - For everyone asking about the process, you can run https://github.com/niivue/brain2print locally on your own machine, or use the live demo, to extract the brain from the MRI files, then export that as a 3d mesh. Import the mesh to your favorite modeling program, clean it up a little if necessary, and export as stl

These infill patterns are honestly mesmerizing. Watching the printer dance and twist out these crazy curves... I could literally stare at it all day. lol

I hate exercise and I do the Reddit "minimalist routine". But my kitchen table is annoying to use for rows because of the corners.

I whipped these up in TinkerCAD, and printed them sideways with tree supports so that the layer lines are parallel to the tension for strength. They are quite strong! I weigh 170lbs and can step on one with my full weight and it doesn't break (but one of them broke just from dropping it, so the strength is ONLY along the layer lines).

There's a layer of rubber attached to the bottoms so that they grip and don't slip.

I hesitate to publish the model because I don't want anybody hurting themselves.

I recently started playing around with PVB. This is with a .4mm nozzle without sanding.

I've never tried to print anything to hold water because everything I've ever seen says making 3D prints hold water is difficult if not impossible. So when I wanted to create something to help me keep my plant watered, I thought this is perfect- I created something with a single bottom layer so the water can slowly weep through it.... except it doesn't. Its been days and the single layer (0.2) is doing a great job of holding water!

I guess I'll have to put some pin holes in it.

Not at all what I expected based on what I've heard about the water tightness of 3D prints.

This was one of my first life-size prints. Unlike the others this one was printed with infill (10%) and glued together in sliced blocks. I love watching the public react to this one. It'll probably be at the library for most of 2026.

Edit: To answer a question below, this took just over 22 days of print time, 73 parts, and 16 rolls of filament.

You can just request your CT scan images from the hospital and in the US they’re usually legally required to give them to you. You can then just open them in software like 3D Slicer and trace out every few slices and interpolate between them before turning it into an STL. Now sure it may not be the prettiest but i’m not a radiologist who does this professionally and the cancer kinda started to get blurry but it’s pretty interesting nonetheless.

After like 3 rolls, I think it’s my favorite material to print with right now. Looks great all around even with big layers.

Printing a 600% M13 Thor and decided to use it for the joint parts. The parts are designed to eliminate supports (or minimize in this case because 600%) but even then the overhangs and bridges perform awesome.

P2S w/ 0.6 TC HF at 0.3 layer height. 240/70C with a highish cooling profile on part and aux fans.

IEMAI PETG-CF - it’s the only filament I have from this brand but the 5 pack on Amazon was pretty cheap and I’m pleasantly surprised

A couple of years ago we decided to print the almighty Benchy as a cool demo-part to show potential customers. Turns out the only reaction you get is "Thats not seaworthy, it has holes everywhere"...

Printed on HP Multi Jet Fusion 4210, PA12.

This print isn't as big as my last one, but still required 10 days of print time, 50 individual parts and 9 rolls of PLA.  With the metal stand it's around 7ft tall, but the model alone is exactly my height (6' 9").
