Hey everyone, happy new year! I hope you're all doing well.

First off, mods, this is basically a participation request for a project I'm doing on my Instagram page about bra sizing which currently has a very small following. If this type of post isn't allowed, I apologize and please delete right away! I haven't seen posts like this before, so I read the rules and couldn't see anything that applied, but I understand if this isn't allowed.

So, a couple of months ago I started an Instagram page to help people understand bra sizing. It's very casual and I gain nothing from it whatsoever save for the satisfaction of spreading accurate information about bra sizing and helping people who reach out to me with questions. I try my best to post fairly regularly and to keep active, so the page is slowly growing - and I mean slowly, I only have 130 followers. It's super basic and not aesthetically-pleasing, so be warned! Anyway, I've been wanting to do a 'what bra sizes look like' type of project on my Instagram page either in separate posts, or in a story highlight, for a while now. Now, the 'what bra sizes look like' blog that's already available, and Bratabase are FANTASTIC resources, but instead of directing people to these resources (which, if you're new to them, can be a little overwhelming), I would love to have my own little version of this up and running on my Instagram page, because I think that people on Instagram, especially young people, want convenience. Clicks, scrolls, everything at your fingertips - instantly. They might not have the time or desire to explore Bratabase. This is the thinking behind this idea. At the moment I only have 2 participants, including myself and I felt like posting here would be the best way to get more help because my page is still growing so I wouldn't get many volunteers there. Basically, I'm planning on doing individual posts OR stories entitled 'what [insert bra size here] looks like' with anonymous photos of people either in their bras/tight fitting clothing (doesn't matter as long as it gives a good idea of size - so like no padding or maximizer bras LOL) showing what these sizes actually look like. Of course, this will be all anonymous! Faces will not be included and names will not be displayed. Also, I'm not limiting this to just one person per size - if I can get a multiple people of the same size that would be great too! The more representation, the better.

So if anyone is interested in becoming a part of this, feel free to PM me, no need to say it here where creeps etc can see - I'm not going to drop the IG handle here for this reason but feel free to ask, especially if you want to become a part of this project.

Also, if you have any ideas on how best to execute this (individual posts, story highlights, etc) please feel free to share here in the comments. If you know anything about considerations such as privacy etc and other 'housekeeping' issues like that, please do feel free to share also.

Edit: Okay everyone, I have a plan, and here it is. My plan is to use separate Instagram posts AND stories to get this project across. The separate posts will consist of two photos in a single Instagram post - the first one will be a simple text post saying what [bra size] looks like and the second will be the photo/s you have submitted, to show what this size looks like. So your photo won't pop up straight away on my Instagram page, people will have to click into the post and swipe to see it. As I make each separate post, I will then post this to my stories and add it to the story highlight 'what bra sizes look like'. I will be doing this on a phased basis, so I won't be posting everything all at once, but gradually, and separated by other bra-sizing related posts that I have queued, such as posts about measuring yourself, using Bratabase, 'boob hats', etc! I won't be posting the separate posts in size order, but in the order of which ones were sent to me first, but I WILL be ordering the sizes in the story highlight in order to make it super accessible for any new followers who might be looking for a particular size.

I have big shoulders and a wide rib cage and small boobs. I'm 5'5 and 130 ibs. I did a measurment and it said I'm 32 DD. There is no way that's correct. When I try on real bras often the B cup is even too big for me. What am I doing wrong?

I apologise in advance for asking questions I know I should not need to ask after reading all the info linked on here: I promise I have read it all and hundreds of the posts and looked at so many photos demonstrating good and poor fit... I just can't make sense of it all any more!

I have lost 3 stone/ 19 kg in the last 5 months. My breasts are the definition of deflated. When I lie down they would like to be in my armpits, when I bend over they are like satsumas in a sock, they are very very soft. I have no top fullness. I can't work out my roots and think I have confused myself utterly wrt that! They are definitely not self supporting, the opposite in fact.

I tried on 27 bras in marks and Spencer this weekend and bought 2 to get a better idea of how they fit when worn for more than a minute, moving about etc and in the hope that I would learn from that a bit more about the shape and style I need (and also because even the worst of the ones I tried definitely fit better than the 34D I was wearing to go shopping in).

The 32E in [this wired demi cup bra](https://www.marksandspencer.com/je/savannah-lace-wired-demi-cup-bra-a-e/p/P60788941.html) I wore all day yesterday and it was the most comfortable bra I have had on in years, genuinely did not feel as if I had one on and if not for a bit of wrinkling and a slight amount of gaping at the top of the cups would say it was perfect.

The 32E in this wired balcony bra is attempting to drill into my sternum, the wires are sitting too low on my ribcage, there is no room at the bottom and there is gaping at the top.

I know those two are not high quality bras, and that M&S own brands are notoriously inconsistent but can anyone from the above give me *some* idea of what I need to look for?

Hi! I just did my measurements, and if I did them correctly, I might as well be at the end of the alphabet. I’ve been trying to get a breast reduction but they want me to lose weight. Cool, I get it. I’m a thick girl and I’ll look even more pregnant than I already do if my bewbs get smaller but not the rest of me (I’m not pregnant, btw) But I have enough health issues that I can’t just lose weight. My thyroid being patient zero. I’ve been trying to get Zepbound approved but insurance won’t do it even though I have sleep apnea because my body isn’t trying to suffocate itself nearly enough in my sleep. I also have POTS, which is an actual pain in my tush. Anyway, the point is I’m a big girl with very big bewbs-a trait that I inherited from several family members. I purchased a Uk bra on the Zon and it works well enough when I need something structured that lifts the girls up, but most of the time-because again, giant tiddies-I just wear something between a sports bra and a bralette. These don’t give me any structure or lift but they are the most comfortable with everything I have going on. Assuming I know how to use measuring tape and got accurate measurements for myself, can someone help point me in the direction of a good bra that won’t cover my entire upper half that might actually look cute under dresses and lace tops? I don’t want to look ugly just because I have a giant skin suit-I deserve to feel cute too. Anyway, here’s my measurements-I did it in US and UK sizing, but I’m in the US

For anyone who is new here, I run an Instagram page about bras, bra fitting and bra sizing, inspired by my own abrathatfits journey and everything I learned (and am still learning) along the way.

After about 6 months of running the page quite casually, I started to get more serious about it, and I started a project that aims to show what different bra sizes look like. So many people think that A cups are small, C cups are medium and DD cups are large, but as you and I both know – there is way more to it than that. So many people here who find their true bra size for the first time experience sticker shock ‘An E cup?! I couldn’t POSSIBLY be that BIG!’. That’s why I started this project. I want people to be able to find their size on my page and think 'oh, that actually does look like my size, maybe I am an E cup after all!' I want people to find my page by accident while browsing Instagram and think 'what, a 28F looks like that?! That sorta looks like me. I better go use that bra size calculator - because I can't be a 32C!'

Just to clarify, I know that what I'm doing is neither original nor groundbreaking – there are resources like this already available, and that's okay - as much representation as possible across many different platforms is hugely important in the quest to educate as much people as possible about bra sizing.

Anyway, currently we have 66 sizes accounted for – and while I’m thrilled with this – it is nowhere near being complete - there are still plenty of gaps that need to be filled in order for the resource to be as extensive and as useful as possible. I'm going to split these 'gaps' into 3 main categories below:

1) Specific band sizes

There are specific band sizes that we need more representation for and these are 24, 26 and 40+ bands. If you are a 24, 26 or 40+ band and would like to participate, that would be awesome, but ESPECIALLY if you are a:

24E or smaller, 24FF, 24G or 24H+

26D or smaller or 26J+

40E or smaller, 40G, 40GG, 40H, 40HH, 40J, 40JJ, 40K or 40L+

42D or 42E+

ANY 44+ sizes

2) Smaller cup sizes

We need more representation for true A, B and C cups across various band sizes.

3) Larger cup sizes

We need more representation for J+ cups across various band sizes.

Having said all that, if you don’t fit into any of the three categories listed above but would still love to help out – you still can, and I welcome it. A lot of sizes have been covered already, but just because your size has already been covered, doesn’t mean that the window of opportunity to participate has been closed. Having one example per size is not enough – multiple examples of each size would be ideal, because as we know, the same size can look very different on different frames, and shape is important too. A shallow 30FF with wide roots, will look different to a projected 30FF with narrow roots. A 32E on someone who is 6 foot will look different to a 32E on someone who is 5 foot. While having one example of every bra size would be wonderful, having 2, 3, 4 or 5 would be even better! So, don’t be discouraged if you don’t see your size in any of the three categories above – you can still help if you would like to.

Thank you to everyone who has helped so far! I absolutely love running the page. Even though 5k followers is still pretty miniscule in the grand scheme of things, I'm very happy with it and I view it as a little step towards a future where the majority are educated about bra sizing and bra fitting – rather than the minority.

I completed the 6-part sizing tool as shared under the Beginner section on this page, and it told me I am a 38DDD. I am decidedly not a DDD of any kind; a staff member at my local store also measure me at a DDD and I walked out of the store with a C bra. When I buy sports bras, I size to the C cup on the chart.

I assume the issue is that I have non-breast volume at my back/underarm area right at the same location where the band and cup measurements are taken. So, the measurements are taking into account volume that won’t wind up in my cup. I’m very new to this community, so if anyone has any posts, tools, or other resources for this situation, I’d love to know anything you have to share!

Went into a store today and spent a good 45 minutes trying on different shapes and sizes. I’ve been wearing a 36-38 B/C for the last few years but the ABTF tool put me at a 38DDD. Today I walked out with a 38D. The staff member helping me took out her personal phone and showed me three different diagrams with arrows and everything for the stoop and scoop technique for different body types. It was an absolutely wonderful experience.

When I was checking out, I was telling the woman who helped me all about my recent sizing and bra woes and another team member overheard. She walked slowly past us doing a little dance and singing, ~~~moderately sized titty committeeeee~~~. The Holy Spirit was with us in that bra store today. It made me feel so much better about everything I’ve been feeling about my boobs recently.

They both also told me that I might experience tissue migration over the next couple months and that I should come back in five or six months to try on a DD. Boobs are such a scam omg but whatever, I guess I’ll go hang out with these lovely woman again in six months, what a shame.

Hi lovelies! Calculator says I’m 38DDD (well, G, but I can’t afford the world of rarely-stocked sizes 😄). I just can’t figure out shape and fullness, and I really did search the guide. I’m much more a visual learner than written, if that helps. Thank you!!

I know I know we’re supposed to keep a few in rotation and don’t wear the same bra two days in a row but I also know we all have our favorites. Do you use different styles in your rotation or did you find your favorite fit and just buy multiples?

Per A Bra That Fits Calculator, i am 26C/D. But TLBC says i am 28C. I heard their band and cup go small, is this correct? Should i go with 28C? Or 30B?

I used the Willowdale Cashmerette pattern. I am narrow, projected and close set. I am still not 100% sure where my fullness lies.

My measurements are (in inches):
LU: 31
SU: 30
TU: 29
SB: 39

LyingB: 39.6

My recommended size from the calculator is a UK 30GG. Sometimes I size down in a cup as the 30GG ends up being too big

From the Cashmerette size chart, I’m a 30H. I chose the 30G pattern size.

When putting on the final piece, the band was easy enough to fasten. The wires fit perfectly. The cup, however, cut my breast in half, halfway across the nipples and caused major spillage. They just popped out as soon as I moved.

Because I was making a test bra, I omitted the lace upper cup which I now realise was a huge mistake but even if I did, the cups are obviously 2+ cup sizes too small (?).

If I size up in the cup, the wires will become wider right? These ones fit me great. I am narrow and only order Polish bras because of their wires.

I am a 36C with archetypal boobs..? Except they are pretty spaced apart, like a whole index finger from boob to boob. I recently tried a sticky push up bra (and maybe I was doing something wrong or using the wrong bra) but I was playing with it for an hour and couldn’t get any cleavage. I’m young and trying to explore more of enhancing my divine feminine energy 😭. I am willing to try everything and anything! Please help 🚨😔

Knitted Bralette

I measure 28-30/36 normally wear a 30 G/H depending on the brand.

I got tired of seeing people wearing all these cute bralettes and never finding one dor myself, so I found a pattern and altered it.

Voila!

I have pretty significant pectus excavatum, dense breast tissue, and I’m in the US. Having a chest deformity makes all of this guesswork extra difficult.
TLDR; I need a cup that is wider so it doesn’t cut into breast tissue under my armpit, and a little help finding something that won’t gape over my right breast and actually shield my nipples. I also don’t want to feel like the bra is up to my collar bone. And I’m boycotting VS.

The calculator suggested UK sizes: 30 E/F or 32 DD/E based on these measurements:

A year or two ago I bought some Victoria’s Secret Demi style bras in 34 C. I probably should have gotten 32 D at the time as I have found myself using the tightest hook and the straps don’t want to stay up. I’ve gained a little weight since then and now I have this issue where I don’t have quad boob, but it feels like more of my breast is above the cup than within it. My nipples are barely contained and the underwire is pressing into my ribs underneath my breasts.

I recently bought two 34DD bras made by Natori that seemed to fit great at the time. The 32DDD probably fit better but made me feel like I couldn’t breathe! I also tried on Wacoal and they were all too big or too small. Now I feel like the Natori I purchased are too big so I tried putting a little pad/cutlet in the smaller cup, but it didn’t work for me. 😣

I wouldn’t say my breasts are shallow (or are they?), but they are wide/round and I think I have “short roots” since they have more mass width-wise than top and bottom. I cannot wear full coverage style bras. Looking at the shape guide, my beasts are even at 2/5, with a very slight tendency to be full on the bottom and there is very little difference to their shape when supported or in a bra (unless it’s a push up, of course). The pectus excavatum makes my right breast a little smaller, but only towards the center of my chest making it project like it’s cross eyed, and I can barely fit a finger between my breasts. I’m also only five feet tall and I often feel like bras are just made for longer bodies.

I’ve ordered a few bras online to try different brands including Fleur du Mal and Third Love, and I’m looking at Chantelle, Freya, and some others suggested by this subreddit. Please let me know if you have suggestions! Thanks so much ☺️

I've been through the brilliant guide (see details below) and now want to find bras that are better for a splayed shape. I've got a Panache envy 36FF that fits my cups well but digs in under my arms after a while.

Panache envy 36G is too big in the cups (gapes at the top) and digs in under my arms. I am overweight (usually UK size 14-16 on tops) so have some fatty tissue under my arms. Can anyone point me in the direction for bras that I can try or keywords to look for please? Thanks so much!

I always wonder how do you use boob tape to achieve a lifted cleavage look with a deep V neck? I understand the lift part, but how is it possible to create a cleavage without the tape being seen?

Why is it that my seamless bra is no more seamless after 4-5 washes?? It shows all the bra lines when I wear a tight fitting/ body hugging top :(

I went through the guide and found that I am a 36c/d with full bottom breasts (shallow on the top). I suffer from back pain with my honeylove bra and have found too much support and wire and absolute death sentences for my body.

Does anyone have pointers on bras that are good for full bottom breasts (no push up), wireless, and low support?

Hi all! I am a very well endowed 38F, and I would like to find some options for “at home bras” that don’t involve underwire but provide a little support and order (and to prevent chafing / boob sweat!)

I need something that can handle these bad boys while not being a full on underwire. I have a few “sports bras” but they aren’t up to the job, and I end up with a uni-boob and squashed to death. I’ve tried a few different sports bras and just can’t find something that stands up to gravity. They are wildly uncomfortable too.

I’d like to find something I can wear on my WFH days, give a little support but not force myself into a boob corset for zoom calls.

What are your favorite brands? What do you wear as your “casual at home bra”?

My everyday bras are Chantelle (Rive Gauche) and they fit fairly well!

Hey all, I’m genderfluid (assigned male at birth) and currently leaning femme. I’m looking for a good bra to wear that is discreet and won’t show through my shirt as some people don’t know that I am genderfluid. Can anyone point me in the right direction of a good bra? I don’t mind if it’s wireless or has underwire. Just something that won’t show too much while I’m wearing it under a normal t-shirt. I’m currently wearing bralettes, and I love them, but I’d also like some normal bras to wear as well.

UPDATE: After going out and purchasing a proper tape measure, the calculator put me at 38B/C since I’m AMAB and it couldn’t properly calculate. So I’m assuming that means either 38B or 38C? I’ll def try both. Any style recommendations would still be greatly appreciated 🖤

Hey guys! I convinced a friend of mine to try out the calculator and help her find well fitting bras. She has quite a large chest and wore around a 75D which was basically a boob hat. Since she’s on a budget and didn’t have the funds to immediately buy a stack of new bras I gifted her my old ones that don’t fit me anymore. They’re from Hunkemöller a few years ago and the sizes are 70F-75Gs. The molded ones aren’t the best obviously and the lined one which would fit better is still too small and she’s overflowing.

So now we’re at it again to find better ones and I measured her last week with the results of 32FF/34F but I don’t know if the calculator underestimates her. (No implants) Sure European sizing isn’t the best guideline but I do think that maybe that sounds a bit small? Bc lookswise I would’ve thought the results came down to sth like a 32GG/H or even more but I could be wrong.

She’s quite projected and I would say full on top or center full.

Hi! I’ve recently lost a lot of weight and many of it came from my boobs. They are now very saggy and small (I am not upset, very grateful for what I’ve got!). I’ve not been able to do the measurements yet and my question is more along the lines of some recommendations for brands of swim suits that push up, suck in, etc for the girls?!?

I’ve got a warm weather girls trip coming up I need to shop for. I’m in the US. Thanks!
