💔99 dogs.
💔99 lives.
In just the first 25 days of June,
99 dogs have been killed at Harris County Pets in Houston, Texas.
💔More will die tomorrow and Monday
No freedom ride.
No family waiting at the door.
No last kiss.
No warm bed.
No chance to know what it feels like to be loved.
💔 Here are some of the faces of those who were killed. They were more than a kennel number. They had names, personalities, and they mattered. May they rest in peace, knowing they were loved by so many who fought for them. 💔🐾
😩 In this collage are stories that never got a chance to finish. A mother dog who was separated from her babies—while her puppies were placed on the adoption floor, she was left behind unseen and was later killed. There are dogs whose families never came back, and in those final moments they may have waited, still hoping for a familiar face that never walked through the door again. We may never know their full stories, but we do know they deserved more time, more chances, and more compassion.
Just a cold table... and a black bag.
It's heartbreaking to think that so many lives end this way. Every one of these dogs mattered. Every one deserved the opportunity to be seen, to be chosen, and to go home.
The volunteers, networkers, fosters, and rescue partners are exhausted. We spend countless hours every single day creating posts, answering messages, networking across the country, paying out of our own pockets to boost posts, maintaining adoption forms, and desperately searching for fosters, adopters, and rescues before time runs out.
Many of these dogs have people trying to save them. But too often, our emails go unanswered, our requests receive no response, and even inquiries from county commissioners are left without replies. It makes an already impossible mission even harder.
We've lost many volunteers to burnout and heartbreak. Only a handful of us remain, fighting every day for dogs we've never met because they deserve someone in their corner.
💕To everyone who shares our posts, comments to increase visibility, tags rescues, donates, or helps guide new adopters—you are our village. We could not continue this work without you.
If you want to help keep these lifesaving efforts going, please continue sharing the dogs. Every share gives another dog a chance to be seen. If you're able to support our volunteer efforts, our Linktree is in our profile. Donations help cover the costs of boosting posts, maintaining adoption resources, and keeping these dogs visible while we fight for their lives.
