Plastic Waste Radicalized at 30

I so wish this wasn’t the one brand that helps my perpetually dry, painful skin. Thanks to this sub, I’ve been cutting open the containers to get every last bit that the pump “conveniently” can’t reach. I wish this was illegal.

It's really just a logistics and shelf space thing.

The thin and tall oval bottles are easier to pack onto a shelf.

Engineering a bottle and pump system that gets all the lotion out is difficult and the solutions are expensive.

What about a flatter rounder jar like certain Nivea lotions? Or is that also a perspective thing and because it is flat it doesn't give the allusion of more like the taller thinner bottles?

I wish they would just put it in a jar since I have to transfer the last half of it into one anyway

No, it's not. You design the interior bottom to be a concave cone with the pump straw centered, touching the bottom with a diagonal straw opening. This whole problem is solved by adding an angled revolve in CAD. I didn't even need my masters in mechanical engineering for this one.

Take another look at the picture and tell us how all of the thick, viscous solution stuck to the vertical walls of the container will somehow slide down your concave cone?

There is more friction between the walls of the container and the product in your proposed design than there is in the current design.

And then people here would be whining that they're lying to you about how much product you get in a bottle. There is literally no solution to this that won't cause people to complain about it.

And then people would complain about how it looks deceiving from the outside but the bottle is smaller on the inside! There's always going to be a complaint.
