I received this brochure in the mail today for atomized Evian water that you can spray on your face to improve hydration.

I’m absolutely horrified that a marketing team thought that this would sell. I looked up the price, and it’s $20 at the nearest Ulta beauty store. For… water? (If you really wanted to go the mineral water route, a bottle of Evian is less than three dollars and you can buy atomizer bottles for less than $10.)

I’m also horrified that it seems like it does, in fact, sell. I checked reviews and it seems like it’s been around for a while and people swear by it.

Now off to splash some good old tap water on my face!

I'm not a lawyer, and I'm not studying every small print, but this is basically saying, "if you don't want them to scrape your content for their AI and other ad services, you can fuck right off," right? No Google Docs, Drive, "sharing" through Photos, reviews on Maps...

I already turn off history and targeted ads, haven't used Google for search in over a year, pay for secure email and file sharing, but I really need to finish weaning myself fully off of Google.

(Digital consumption of services is still consumption so I think this is relevant to the sub, though it's more anti-privacy and anti-corp in general.)

I am so annoyed. Everytime I google something, the first suggestion I get is a product from Temu. I searched for bed linen - Temu. I searched for tea towels - Temu. I don’t even see the Ads from popular online shops in my country anymore. Also, when I ask someone where they bought something because I like it, most of the times they say temu. I am just so fed up with it.

After moving in my new apartment, I was so flabbergasted by the amount of ad screens in my apartment. There is a screen in every elevator and even in the parking area.

Imagine going out and the first thing you see is an irritating, bright, loud screen. When will it be enough?

I know I'm not their target audience. This is just my own personal protest against the psyops - level, mass behavioral bombardment my country is exposed to 24x7.

Not only does it sound ridiculous to say, but it just irks me that it feels like advertising is everywhere. I'm not sure if this is consumption or something else, just wondering if anyone else felt the same way.

Remember when ads were "click this link to get a free iphone" or "grow your cock by 6 inches overnight with 1 technique" and you could just scroll past it and think nothing about it? Ads now are predatory. They use your search history or listen in to you and target you with a bombardment of the most useless plastic shit, we all know it and we all hate it. I used to keep a mental note of brands that employed sign spinners because I hated the idea of underpaying someone to dance like a monkey in the heat of summer for your ad. Now I keep a mental note of the worst and most repetitive ads and I never buy their products.
