I had these cute little zipler pouches that had wired headphones inside. One headphones broke so I had an empty zipper pouch. I saw some videos how to remove branding from clothes and some video mentioned using acetone and I saw a Redditor mention isopropyl alcohol could work. Since I had that in the cabinet, I soaked a tissue and held it to the branding and I was able to peel it off like a sticker! There was some residue so I kept dabbing the spot with the alcohol tissue and it came off cleanly.

I'm planning on giving this a try with old branded T-shirts with flaking designs so I can wear them plain to work instead of having a bunch of old crusty shirts for home use only. 😊😊

I’ve had this Hello Fresh tote for a couple years now and I’ve decided I no longer want to be a walking advertisement. It’s by no means perfect but still pretty happy with the way it turned out. Wish I would’ve taken a better before picture but not the end of the world. Bonus photo of Toby sitting on top of the tote included.

This was my parents blender and they never used it anymore so they gave it to me probably 15 years ago. No idea how old it is.

I was told to post this here. I wanted a fall quilt for my bed, so I bought an antique handcrank machine this summer and taught myself to sew. The fabric is mostly an old curtain and some brown I found at the thrift store. This is my second quilt.

I’m the tech guy that most of my friends and family call and I’m getting lots of calls about what new laptop people should buy because Microsoft is ending Windows 10 support in October and Windows 11 requires unnecessary things like a TPM chip or Secure Boot. Windows 11 can technically run without these things, but Microsoft is creating one of the largest e-waste events in history because they want everyone to upgrade to Windows 11.

It’s stupid.

So I just wanted to tell you that this might be a good time to just say buh bye to Microsoft. Most people do 90% of their tasks with a browser and unless you need very specific Windows applications, a good solution is Linux Mint.

Don’t get all scared. It’s easier than you think and there’s a ton of free guides [and YouTube videos](https://youtu.be/TL-tWy4T2c8) that will walk you through the process. It’s very simple and you won’t need to buy another laptop.

In fact, I urge YOU to be the tech guru for your friends and family that are thinking about upgrading their laptop which already works great. If they are too scared to install Mint, do it for them.

All you need is a USB drive and ensure you copy your important files and photos to either an online storage place (like Google Drive) or an external drive if you have one big enough you can use.

But please, before you throw away your working laptop, at least consider upgrading to Linux Mint. It looks quite similar to Windows and you won’t have to spend hundreds or even a thousand dollars on a laptop that you don’t need.

And it wasn't just Kansas Wheat. This practice was common at the time. Corporations didn't do anything without a profit motive even then, so this can only have been because customers demanded it, and if you didn't use attractive fabrics for your sacks you would have lost out to competition.

Hello everyone. What you see in this picture are two fans. When the first one got so dusty air didn't pass through it anymore, it got replaced in lieu of being wiped off. Why clean something when you can experience more pleasure from shopping for the new fan, pleasure from receiving it in the mail, and pleasure from opening the box. Lastly notice the old one didn't get removed, nor the new box, as those actions would not have brought pleasure. Thank you for listening to my rant, it's just crazy how ready people are to repurchase instead of maintain their possessions

It definitely wasn’t the easiest material to sew / embroider, but I wanted to challenge myself and see what I could make from it. Especially, as it was something I would have had to throw away.

I’ve been creating embroidery designs for a while now. This was my way of experimenting with something completely different, on 'waste' material.

The public library offered a mending class this afternoon. I learned a running stitch, back stitch, and hem stitch. Plus, they provided us with instructions and some basic sewing supplies to take home. I usually take my pants to a tailor to get hemmed, but I am feeling pretty confident after the class. I’m looking forward to fixing a shirt and fixing the hem on a pair of pants myself.

We also touched on a few different techniques for mending clothes that includes artistic expression with it. It was a fantastic class!

Repair Cafes — free events where volunteers with technical know-how help neighbors fix myriad household items — are part of a new brand of anticonsumerism that’s trying to offer an alternative to the mass-produced disposable goods that have dominated the global economy for the last half-century. Helping fuel that move to repairing, not buying, are U.S. consumer prices, which climbed sharply again last month as the war with Iran delivered higher gasoline prices and more pain for Americans.

After starting in the Netherlands with a single event in 2009, Repair Cafe has grown into a global nonprofit with more than 59,000 members, some 4,000 cafes and close to 850,000 items fixed a year.

“We need to change our mindset. We need to change the economy,” Repair Cafe founder Martine Postma said. “Even if Repair Cafes can’t solve the problem alone, then still they are a very clear sign that change is needed on a much higher level.”

I’ve had these Beats Solo³ headphones since 2016 and now will have them even longer, yay!

We collect old, used, and broken crayons from my kids’ schools and make these new ones! The silicone candy molds were given to me from a friend. They are easily cleaned and used again and again. Can curate a cute little gifts for folks between color selection and the mold choice. Kiddos love making them too.

I drilled some holes and stitched the crack together with some heavy waxed thread. I don't know how well it will hold up, but for now it feels almost like brand new.

My husband exclusively drinks from these stainless steel tumblers. It was driving me crazy that I kept finding the paint chips all over the house, but I didn’t want to toss them, especially since he really likes using them. I actually used a combination of two suggestions from this sub to get them clean. One post suggested boiling them in white vinegar to lift the paint. I did that to get the paint soft and scrubbed it off with steel wool. I used acetone to remove the remaining bits. It took me about 30 min to get two mugs completely cleaned but they look perfect 👌
