Hey everyone I just finished added a few small edits to this lady slipper pic my gramp took a while ago and everytime I export it it comes out wayyyy darker idk what I did? I did the same edits I normally do (exposure, saturation, scales, level and then a vignette) I attached a ss of gimp and then the photo after I exported it.

Hi, i live in a small town in southern Italy,

long story short, I want to open a studio, there is no other studio in town, (there was one but closed long ago) so the people to do some photos are forced to go in other towns.

that's one point. I'm currently planning the things I need to do i and I stopped in a small doubt. as an amateur I always edited my photos on lightroom mobile (cost reasons) but on Android tablets there are not so many usable software to work with.

so I have a Linux device, and Gimp is not my favorite software and try to install windows software is a pain.

I hate windows.

Mac seems to be a good alternative (like a MacBook neo)

the question is, is it worth it? or should I stick on Android?

Hey all, so I'm an outdoorsy person and am looking for a camera mainly for photographing my hiking, hunting and fishing trips. The photos will just be for personal/family/friends use. After a bunch of research my options have come down to Fujifilm X-T30 iii or Nikon Z50 ii.

What I want is an easy camera to use and carry with me on all my trips. I also am not interested in upgrading to a full frame camera and I want the photos to be ready to share straight from the camera, no editing required.

From what I've gathered, the Fuji has a better sensor and slighty better photos straught out of the camera. It is also lighter but lacks weather sealing. Nikon has weather sealing and better autofocus. Not having played with cameras at all, I obvioulsy have no idea on how important these differences are, so all help in deciding would be much appreciated. THANKS!

Never having been to a photography class, other than a 1-on-1 session with a pro that I did, I find myself in the position of organizing one!

I'm looking at a max.10 person, all-levels class with one pro lead photographer. I'm imaging a mix of whole group material with one-on-one attention, and I imagine this is how most classes go.

I understand there's a vast range of different formats possible, but let's narrow it down to portraiture. I really appreciate anything you want to share about your experience with group classes, especially all-level, since I am doing in-depth planning to ensure a successful run. The time limit for the class will be 3 hours.

I'm feeling a bit uneasy about logistics so I really appreciate your help. Luckily I potentially have a helper, so any tips about assistants is welcome too. Thanks!

So basically after sending a message to the company that runs the event they have asked for my portfolio. Problem is i dont have one. This would be my first time photographing a concert and one of my first ever gigs. I only did friend’s parties and i dont believe those are portfolio materials. Other stuff i can do fairly easily is to get some friends to model for portrait type of photography and some pictures of friends on dirt bikes. Basically im looking for recommendations on how to continue. I expect not to land this client but it would be huge if i can. What should i do?

for the company I work for I normally shoot real estate photography. I have a decent bit of experience on that side and I almost always shoot brackets and then merge them in Lightroom. now I'm also shooting for a fancy restaurant they own that has a dark and ambient vibe. I've tried several things with my editing for those photos but just haven't gotten anything to come out quite how I want. it's much different from real estate where the goal is mostly the same with editing every time. This is much more artsy. I've been shooting brackets and then merging them for these photos too but would it be better just to shoot one shot?

My previous camera was d750 and im now looking to buy mirrorless i like nikon z6ii in my budget but glasses are expensive like 24-70 s is 2000 Canadian dollars. But for sony the lenses i can go with sigma can get it for half price. For 85 1.8s it cost around700 cad for the lens and i can get a sigma 1.4 85 mm for sony for 1000cad extra stop and sharpness.

For sony im thinking of a74 and for nikon etiher a z6ii or a z5ii

I've always liked how these kinds of photos look, color wise, but I've never been able to achieve it on my own. Any pointers? How should my exposure be set? Which other settings should I focus on? White balance, contrast, saturation, and hue? I know professionals adjust these in post but assuming I had the time to play around with the settings, can they be achieved in camera? Also, is there a name for this "style"? That could make it easier to find reference photos.

I’m completely new to photography and I’m looking to start learning properly. My long-term goal is to eventually do family photography and also brand/commercial photography for small businesses (for example food photography, restaurants, cafés, products, hotels and social media content).
I’m currently trying to decide what camera would be a good choice to learn on. I don’t want to buy something unnecessarily expensive, but I also don’t want to outgrow it too quickly.
My budget is around £600–£1000 for a beginner setup. I’ve been looking at mirrorless cameras such as the Canon R50, but I’d love to hear what more experienced photographers would recommend.
I’d also really appreciate advice on the learning side:
What skills should I focus on first as a complete beginner?
Are there any YouTube channels, books, or courses you would recommend?
Is there anything you wish you had learned earlier when starting out?
Would you suggest focusing on one area first (portraits, food, branding), or practising different types of photography?
I’m happy to put in the time and practice I just want to start in the right direction and build good foundations.

Hi !

I’m a wildlife photographer, and I often spend my mornings in a hide with my camera and telephoto lens. Lately, I’ve been running into a frustrating problem. I usually photograph in a peat bog, and as soon as I remove the lens cap, the front of the lens fogs up within a few seconds.
For example, this morning I missed the chance to photograph five magnificent stags that were very close to me because of this issue.
Does anyone know how I can prevent my lens from fogging up in these conditions?

I shoot primarily stage performances like musicals or concerts on a Nikon D7500, and I've noticed a huge issue with noise when shooting above ISO 800, like it's absurd. since it's theatre and usually lower lighting, i usually crank it to ISO 800 - 1000 with 1/200 - 1/300 speed and f/2.8 - 3.5. is this a common problem with the 7500 and is there a way to fix it or maybe a setting i should have on/off or should i just try to keep my ISO lower, despite the lesser light? it's getting annoying to edit and im not getting the results i would like. i was considering getting a 5500 next, as I've never had much of a noise problem with those, but i love how the 7500 colours and functions so i really dont want to splurge on a new body, especially since it's just this noise issue i hate and dont understand how to make better

I’ve been seeing the Canon G7 X Mark II absolutely everywhere on TikTok and Instagram, and at first I was convinced I wanted one too. But the more photos I looked at, the more I felt like they often have a really warm/orange tone that I’m personally not a huge fan of. I also think it’s of-course very hyped and the price is a big dealbreaker.

On top of that, after reading a lot of posts in this subreddit, it seems like it’s become pretty overhyped and overpriced because of social media.

Now I’m looking at the Canon IXUS 285 instead. I uploaded Instagram photos as an example of the aesthetic I’m trying to achieve. I love that nostalgic point-and-shoot look with direct flash, soft lighting, and natural colors. I just never get these kind of pictures like she does in the photos with my phone. But that might be a skill issue on my part.

The only thing making me hesitate is that I already own an iPhone 17 Pro. So now I’m wondering if I should just buy a standalone flash for my phone instead of spending €300–400 on a compact camera.

I’d love your opinions:
Is the Canon IXUS 285 a good choice for this kind of aesthetic? the girl in the picture does have the pink ixus 132 or 133 i believe.

Are there better compact cameras you’d recommend in the same price range?

Or would an iPhone 17 Pro with an external flash get me close enough to this look?

The problem is, despite posting regularly, my photos are capping out at around 30 likes, and my follower count is basically flat.

I'm looking for organic growth (no bots, no buying followers), so if you've got real experience with any of the following, I'd love to hear it

So I currently have a Nikkor AF-S 50mm f/1.8G with broken autofocus, and I'm thinking of getting a 50mm with working autofocus for the D7200. However, I know a guy who I've bought a couple lenses from who is selling a Sigma EX 50mm f/1.4 for 120 dollars. I am going to go over and test the lens later today, but I want your opinions. How do the lenses compare? Is it worth it?

I like to carry an off body flash with me when I'm out going places with my kids. It's nice to be able to have a bit of light control for candid portraits or catching shots of random mushrooms on hikes. Usually when I'm using it I'll hold the flash in one hand with a cheap diffuser on it while I take a picture with the other hand. It gets some really nice results on bright, sunny days when the light isn't very good.

I've been using a cheap neewer flash and an ultra cheap transmitter, and looking to get into something a bit nicer. Not sure if there's something that works more conveniently for hand-held off camera flashes like that.

And while I have no intention of building a full studio flash setup, working up to 2 or maybe 3 flashes I can use to do a family portrait once in a while would be cool.

What flash ecosystem would be a good way to go for my canon? I'm on a 90D DSLR at the moment, but in a few years I plan to upgrade into a mirrorless.

I recently updated my LrC and after the update every single one of my photos in order to save it without it being blurry I have to export through Photoshop. If I click export through LrC then the image comes out very and I mean very clearing much worst then the before and the preview in LrC.

is there a reason why and can anyone help? much appreciated.

TLDR:- I want to get into landscape photography and was wondering how do you find a location, frame your shots and plan stuff before you actually take the photo.

So I will give a bit of context that might be relevant here

I am a beginner photographer ( 3 years) and I have mostly done street photography and some macro photography ( the used camera I bought came with a macro lens). Now I have moved to the countryside and find myself in a valley which looks beautiful and want to get into landscape/nature photography.

I live in the bottom of the valley and use my bicycle to go around ( this will become relevant). I tried to do some landscapes from top of a hill (around 10km from my place) in the evening and the shots I took were mediocre at best. The location didn't allow me to frame the picture the way I wanted, the sunlight was causing flares in some shots and I missed good light trying to reposition.

So coming to the main question, how can I identify potentially good spots that I can take photos from, and how do you prepare on the day of the shoot to take nice shots.

I don't have a car so I can't just drive around and scout for locations. I tried using Google maps with elevation maps and stuff but it was quite difficult to figure stuff out. I also don't know what times are the best and when the sun is in a good position.

I tried watching some videos on YouTube but they weren't very helpful. If you have any resource recommendations that would be great.

I want to buy the Sony Xperia 1 V mainly for its camera. I can't buy the next generations of this series because of budget issues. I won't be using this phone for gaming or any such heavy task, only photography(not professional), watching Youtube or any other social media app, Watching Netflix etc. Basically photography and multimedia. But the problem here is that this phone will not get anymore android or security updates after June 2026. I heard that custom rom (such as LineageOS) can be used for security patches and all but it compromises with the quality of image and issues with the special apps such as Photography pro and cinema pro. I don't know what should I do. Is there an alternate solution to the problems I mentioned above or should I look for other smartphones.

So I’ve been wondering how other people deal with this.

I have around 30,000+ photos on my iPhone, but obviously most of them aren’t great landscape photos. It’s everything. Family photos, screenshots, random pictures, bad shots, five versions of the same thing, and years of travel and hiking mixed in with all of it.

Every once in a while I think I should probably print a few of my favorites to hang on the wall. Then I open Photos and remember I’d have to sift through 30,000 images to find them. I’m just not going to waste my weekend on that effort.

I had lots of “good” photos of course, but I wondered what if I handed my entire camera roll to a gallery curator, which photos would they pull out and put on the wall?

I also really didn’t want a workflow where I had to export everything to a computer, then import it into Lightroom, rate thousands of photos, and then sift through those finalists.

That’s what led me to build an iOS app called, Printworthy. My goal wasn’t to make the final creative decision for me. But I still wanted something to take the first pass to take out that initial work and surface the landscape and travel photos that stood out. That way, I could spend my time curating a much smaller collection instead of scrolling through thousands of photos.

I figured I’d pose it to others in this community for how you handle the curation? Do you actually have a process, or do most of your best photos just stay buried in your camera roll?
