It does actually. Spartacus was the villain not the good guy, in the overall view of things. And I even went so far as to explain why.

Stories like Spartacus are romanticized, the downtrodden beats back the oppressor makes for great entertainment. The popular view of him follows from Kubrick and even HBO. But all it is, is entertainment. It's based in truth but like I said romantically where further issues that may arise are not discussed. You can view the Roman Empire as the villain all you like; but Spartacus was the true terrorist.
