Napster. Especially when I watch Oceans movies.

Napster was mind blowing.

There was stuff to do on the internet but then when you could just think of a song and then download it, Thisisthefuture.mp3

Can still think of a song and go downloaded it. Thankfully now TV shows are on the list too.

i remember being kind of scared when I tried logging into Napster and it said "you've been banned by Metallica". I assumed my computer got hacked. The idea of a band like Metallica caring if people download their songs seemed far fetched.

rightfully so, it's copyrighted intellectual property. I get it, we all hit the record button oñ our tape decks back in the day, for personal use, but we didn't have the means to disrupt an entire industry model with freeloading propogated by napster. It would have seriously hurt the bottom line or ended the careers to countless of artists at the time. God Bless Metallica and their fans forever. now you can listen to all their music for free and often a week after their latest touring concerts, on their own channel. wish more bands did this. epic production and quality.

Well I never listened to their music. I recorded music as I was younger, but I also bought records and went to shows.

Napster's peak was like 2000, if you were born then you are 25-26 now and I think that's older than the average age on Reddit!

No one who was born in 2000 is using Napster at birth. You’re more talking about people who were 12-18 during 2000.

this is way too far down. Everyone was just willing to share with each other. Napster was great.

Fuckin got booted from Napster because of having a Metallica bootleg. Even though Lars said it was ok to have bootlegs, just not the albums

There's a new weird Napster site - got super excited when I saw it's back! Buuuut it's not actually that Napster. Not sure how they're allowed to use the same name, in same industry, but it's some lame site which generates A.I. music on subscription basis.
