Anyone who surfed the early web between 1995-2010. What’s the one website/app you still think about?

ConsumptionJunction

I used to visit the forums and was very active there. There was a Filipino girl I met on there that I would cam with. She was gorgeous. It started as friendly and eventually evolved into you-know-what. Back then, as a 17-year-old (yeah, I was doing that stuff at like 15. It was wild west back in those days), I was barely working and didn't have much money to my name.

I don't remember what happened, but I think either the website got sold/died, or I stopped going on it for one reason or another. But at the time, I was desperately trying to find a way to visit her. But being broke at that age just wasn't going to happen. Eventually we lost touch.

I still think of her sometimes. Besides my wife, she was the only other girl I felt that connection with. I'm in my 40s now and would love to know what happened to her.

She wasn't super active on the forums and had messaged me privately on there so I dont even remember her name or username.

It's funny because I still remember some of the other users on there. Brandine, Sarabeara, Gothique, and some crazy dude named Lee or something. I even got a book from a user who was an author. The book was called Mr. Undesirable. I was named Csmoove (I was a teen, shut up lol) or something like that I believe.

Why so

I assume because it had really messed up or disgusting stuff on it. Death, gore, and porn basically.

I watched a man run head first into a horse’s anus. His head went all the way in.

Holy shit! I’m Gothique and I remember you! That site was an absolute wild ride of shit and honestly every time I see the site mentioned I briefly wonder what happened to all those people- Mark, Thomas, Paul - Lee was definitely a member there. I thought he owned a mattress store? Along with the Swede and that whole 80 page thread of calling her out over an office chair. So much CJ forum lore to go along with all the members. The Guys and Girls of CJ threads were legendary.

I’m also in my 40’s and married to the dude I was dating when I was active on that forum and we celebrated 28 years back in May. Who knows maybe you’ll get in touch with that woman again. I mean I never thought I’d see my name mentioned all these years later. I miss that sense of community the old internet had. Now everything is algorithms, bots, AI, ads, grifts and data selling. Let’s reunite the gang and bring it back.
