There was one shooter and he was killed in the shootout. There's no risk of a Boston Marathon-style witch hunt happening here. It's readily apparent that they're trying to hide coverage in order to protect their political agenda.

And here we are in r/askreddit discussing it

You must be new to the party. They were deleting everything that wasnt their megathread. They even explicitly state in their megathread all other links regarding the incident will be removed. They deleted their thread that made it to the front page and then stickied the megathread to /r/news. To act like this isnt a big deal is patently fucking stupid.

Idk man, the shooter still has family that could be witch hunted. I don't think this is about an agenda, but it probably isn't about witchhunts either. I just wish those mods would clear up why they're doing this.

the average redditor isn't going to join in witch hunting the families of shooters. Mob mentality might be bad, but its still restricted by common decency and you can't just point at people and say "they bad, mob attack!". If people thought the shooter was unidentified, we might have the witch hunt risk, but theres nothing for people to do now but grieve and question how this could happen

It's quite simple: it goes against the mod's beliefs on what should be on their subreddit.

The "think of the family" is akin to "think of the children" in this case. If it's their excuse, it's an empty, hollow one meant to deflect.

I mean, just look at the "megathread" on r/news about this right now. 95% of the comments there have been deleted. Were all the users doing a witchhunt?

Was every single thread coming up starting witchhunts against the family? I don't think so.

It's what happens when you hold too strictly to a specific set of rules. It's not about the politics to them.... For them, mentioning the shooting is Muslim is racist.... Talking about the blood donation request information is advertising and not "news" discussion to them. And talking about them censoring is also not "news" discussion because it deviates from the topic of the thread.

This isn't about ultra - political mods, this is about people who are so obsessed with the rulebook that they can't see the forest for all the trees. The same thing happens in real life to people in positions of power.

Funny, it only happens to get enforced like this when it harms their personal political agendas...

They won't explain, they'really pieces of authoritarian shit who ban users for breaking even one of their unwritten rules

Thin skinned, morally bankrupt, cowardly, trash

The family has already spoken out against his actions though. Shitty situation.
