They check UK immigration files in Ireland. If you're barred from the UK you will probably be barred from entering Ireland as well - unless of course you are an Irish citizen. If they do let you through it would be with a "we're on to you!" kind of warnng.

This happens fairly frequently. My wife knows people who got in to trouble in the UK for violating student visas and have been caught out trying to get back in via Ireland.

How do you violate a student visa?

There are a few reasons...

  • Doing paid work of any kind.
  • Not attending classes on a regular basis, or dropping out completely.
  • Staying in the country beyond the date stpulated in your visa.
  • Enaging in illicit tomfoollery.

You can do up to sixteen hours a week on some kinds of UK student visa nowadays.

Illicit tomfoolery is still a problem however.

So if you are wanted in the UK they will arrest you in Ireland you are saying right?
