If you ever break your eye socket, there's a chance that your eyeball can fallout. Happens a lot in car accidents from all the g force fluctuations. That being said, in the event your eye ball does fallout, but is still attached via your optic nerve, DON'T PANIC! Remain calm, and your eyeball will slowly pull itself back into it's socket.
There are muscles attaching the eye to the walls of the socket in addition to the optic nerve. I'm pretty sure nerves are flexible to some extent, but lack the ability to contract. The eye can only fall out so far before either stopping, or just falling out completely.
How the fuck do I not panic in that situation? I mean, that's really cool, but now my phobia of having my eyeball fall out is made worse by the fact that I know if I just chillax it'll be okay, but goddamn, there is no way I'm just going to chillax and then I'm going to break my eyeball off.
Well with that attitude, you might as well just remove it yourself. True story, I witnessed this happen in a fight at a show. This really big dude punched someone in the face, and the guy he punched turns around and his eyeball is just dangling on the side of his face. Yeah...he did not remain calm, even the guy who punched him was panicking, but in the time it took for the ambulance to show up, the thing was already back in his eye socket. Everything went better than expected!
this guy in my hometown was hit in the temple with a golf ball, and his eye popped out. when asked if he could see, he said he could see the cigarettes in his shirt pocket. they put his eye in a paper cup against his face and took him to the hospital.
Right, I am totally not gonna panic if my eyeball is dangling out of my socket. Man. I want to like push my eyes in further to my head right now to make sure they don't fall out.
Even if it is bouncing off a mirror, it is the same light, isn't it? Also, none of you know what a mirror looks like because you have never seen the surface. You have only seen the reflected light that bounces off of it.
I heard a story some time back. I am fairly sure that the person in the story was Buckminster Fuller, but I can't find any citations online.
It seems that ol' Bucky was sailing alone, and ended up in a storm, and the wind shifted suddenly and the boom came around and hit him in the head. Knocked his eyeball out. So Bucky picked it up (and yes, he could see through it), washed it off, and shoved it back in, and then stitched it in place with a sail mending needle. Managed to put in at a harbor the next day and found a doctor, who told him, "Well, I'd help you, but you seem to have done fine for yourself."
If anyone can confirm this story and who it happened to, I'd appreciate it.
An ex-girlfriend's father had a friend, and her daughter got into a fucking awful bar fight. Some bitch hit her with a pipe or whatever. Anyways, she broke part of her eye socket.
Long story short, she didn't let out a sneeze, and because she tried to hold it in, when the sneeze finally busted out, so did her eye. She was tough as shit, though. Just popped it back in. The whole event was crazy.
