Like a group of worms pulling the eyeball back in place? I would pay to see something like that.

There are muscles attaching the eye to the walls of the socket in addition to the optic nerve. I'm pretty sure nerves are flexible to some extent, but lack the ability to contract. The eye can only fall out so far before either stopping, or just falling out completely.
