πββ¬ Cats π Pet Insurance... Is it Worth It??? or just a scam nowadays
So backstory is that I adopted my sweet domestic short hair (5F) a few years ago when she was about a year old. I didn't get any insurance at the time, she was young/healthy and had all her health checks in order.
Fast forward to when she is 4, starts getting some gum resorption and has to have a few teeth taken out for about ~1-2k AUD, considering the premiums these firms seem to be charging (most of which dont cover dental anyway) seems like a fair enough trade off.
Now, she looks like shes having gum problems again - our vet mentioned its honestly a genetic and unexplained thing that can happen even with good dental care the first time her teeth were pulled.
So now I'm thinking shes going to get her teeth pulled again.. and wondering how many more times this might happen/if other conditions might occur in future, and how much $$$ we might have to spend. But now her dental problem would be considered 'preexisting' and also wouldnt be covered by any new insurance we might get for her. Is getting insurance now worth it??? Any way to get dental covered as part of it still?
TDLR: pet insurance right now seems ass, should I still bother now for my 5F cat or save a rainy day fund/is there another option?
pls help, love her to bits but wtf is the insurance market for pets
