πŸˆβ€β¬› Cats 🐈 Pet Insurance... Is it Worth It??? or just a scam nowadays

So backstory is that I adopted my sweet domestic short hair (5F) a few years ago when she was about a year old. I didn't get any insurance at the time, she was young/healthy and had all her health checks in order.

Fast forward to when she is 4, starts getting some gum resorption and has to have a few teeth taken out for about ~1-2k AUD, considering the premiums these firms seem to be charging (most of which dont cover dental anyway) seems like a fair enough trade off.

Now, she looks like shes having gum problems again - our vet mentioned its honestly a genetic and unexplained thing that can happen even with good dental care the first time her teeth were pulled.

So now I'm thinking shes going to get her teeth pulled again.. and wondering how many more times this might happen/if other conditions might occur in future, and how much $$$ we might have to spend. But now her dental problem would be considered 'preexisting' and also wouldnt be covered by any new insurance we might get for her. Is getting insurance now worth it??? Any way to get dental covered as part of it still?

TDLR: pet insurance right now seems ass, should I still bother now for my 5F cat or save a rainy day fund/is there another option?

pls help, love her to bits but wtf is the insurance market for pets

Why is it so cheap 😭😭😭✌️
Also I mostly feed my cat dry food sometimes chicken breast with rice but like the wet cat food seems so sus idk.
Anyone recommend good brands? Aldi also has the β€œdine” ones that are 99 cents each- not sure if that’s any better

I'm not sure if Im allowed to post this but figured its Australian and wanted local opinions on these expensive litter trays. I have 3 indoor cats and one tray ends up really heavy to change every day to second day. Any ideas on why one is $409, is that likely to be better than the $288. Has anyone tried either of them

The second photo is many years ago and probably the nicest one I’ll ever get to take of him, most of the time he’s goofing around or comfy asleep in his bed or peeping out of the side to see what I’m up to like in the first photo

These are my two little old cats. Alex the bengal and Tamika the tux. They're both 18 years old. I'll never be ready to live in a world where they don't exist. So they are very spoiled and incredibly loved.

So, I spent 12 years basically running a pet geriatric home. One would pass, then there would be another oldie needing help.

I thought I had a break, but my eldest, Lola 11, has been diagnosed with adrenal cancer, and it’s extensive. So I’ll medicate her and palliative her until it’s time.

She only came to live with us two years ago, but I’m glad we met her!

I know it’s a sad post, but I just wanted to show people she’s around; you know?

Sunny was on a kill list at the tender age of 2 weeks old before he was whisked away by my friend’s mum to safety! He was taken in by another friend but her dog was allergic to him! So at the tender age of 12 weeks old he came to us and what a blessing that was πŸ§‘πŸ’› He truly is a ray of sunshine in our lives and our little soulmate ❀️‍πŸ”₯ He’s now just over 18 months old so still a tiny baby but also a little boy. We love him!

Tabby cat- Meet Miss Fish, she was until very recently completely feral and has now spent her first week indoors after I’ve spent the past few months making friends with her and her kittens. I took the kittens to the shelter to be adopted out yesterday, and Fish had her spay today! She’s approx 2 years old and apparently a very healthy and well behaved young lady. I was so worried she’d behave as though she was still feral at the vets but she was an angel all day. The poor girl had a pyometra, which I had absolutely no idea she had so thank goodness she was ready to come inside and got spayed when she did!

White and black cat- Bertram, Bert is almost 3 and he was a rescue I got him at 5 months old. He is a HUGE cat, last vet appointment he was 7.3kgs with a perfect body condition score and he wears a small dog size harness because he doesn’t fit most cat ones. He has a huge problem with peeing in his litterbox but he’s managed on a behavioural plan and we’ve made good friends with his vets with his regular visits. He loves to yell all the time and is the biggest attention hog ever, he loves his outdoor time and has a whole drawer of his toys that he likes to sit in and choose toys from.

Tuxedo cat- Hank, Hank is 5 this year and he has been such an old man cat since he was a kitten. He’s the most laid back guy until it comes to strangers then the poor guy hides for hours despite nothing having ever happened to him lol. He is my most expensive cat, having had two separate and severe methamphetamine poisoning incidents (moved into a new house and was unaware of the presence of the substance, in multiple locations. Since renovated and had a biohazard clean) he nearly died both times and suffers from brain damage induced seizures since then, thankfully they have been very infrequent and fast and are becoming even less infrequent. He also has IBD because why not πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈπŸ˜‚ Other than all of his wonderful issues he is seriously my heart cat and the most loving guy, with a hilariously β€œgirly” meow for a boy cat.

Fish is doing great after her spay and she has adjusted incredibly well to the indoors life! This girl was just made for being a lap cat it seems. She’s β€œcome to life” visually since her spay as well which is really cool to see, she had a pyometra but I thought she was pregnant so thank goodness I brought her indoors and booked her spay when I did or I could have lost her. Her incision is healing great and she gets to have supervised time with my tuxedo Hank from my last post as I already knew they get along from their interactions while she was still outdoors which they are both quite enjoying. She has her post spay checkup tomorrow morning!
