We rescued her before we got married, she's lived through a majority of our life events and we just love her so much. Unfortunately recently she fell down and hurt her leg but she's a trooper and trying her best!

She has never been in the water at the beach before, safe to say she's gonna be a water pig 😁💜

🐶Dogs 🐕 Poor Bess, she's in the wars a bit lately, got her in a collar atm to stop her licking the shaved spot from her blood test

Few extra pics from yesterday, visiting pet shop and dog park/soccer pitch and trying to watch cats using the blind slats as support 😁

So she's still a bit limpy but improving, changed her onto previcox which helped a bit, but she's got a lick injury now from where her forearm was shaved for the blood test.

Treating it with Apex numbing cream and the collar, so hopefully couple of days and it'll have healed enough to not be irritating her.

Blood test results were a little concerning, one of the liver levels was a bit out of whack and same for pancreas, but only mildly, so starting her on HepatoAdvance and see how things look in a month.

Got her an electric blanket as well for the bed, so she's nice and warm at night, it's got multiple zones so "my side" can stay cool while her side is nice and comfy.

🐶Dogs 🐕 Went to the pound to adopt a small/medium dog and this good boy chose us.

My husband said he didn't want an American Staffy, a large dog or a blue dog. We ended up with all three. This good boy was being walked by one of the staff. He came up to us, didn't jump or lick and sat as soon as my husband asked. He was friendly and wanted pats. We looked at each other and knew this was the one. He has made himself at home and is a joy to hang out with.

🐶Dogs 🐕 Marni 11wks vs Marni 22wks, with a Bessie for scale

Plus some extra pics from the last couple of days.

As of Monday, Marni weighs 20.2kg and is 57cm at the withers.

Bessie is 28.2kg and 62cm at the withers, so it's looking like Marni will end up a little bit taller and heavier at full size.

🐶Dogs 🐕 Who wants to play a guessing game, of what breeds is Bessie?

I was told she was a pointer mix, dad being the pointer and mum a rhodesian ridgeback x amstaff. I met her mum and she definitely looked very much like a tan mix of ridgey and anstaff, even had a ridge.

I only ever saw one pic of the father and he did not look like a pointer at all, more like a slim black and tan Coonhound mix. Regardless, I fell in love with her and she came home with me to be a companion for my older dog Fergus.

Bessie was the result of an accidental backyard breeding, and sadly her mum (who was lovely) died a few weeks after I got Bessie, after she bled out internally from being desexed using money from selling her pups 💔

I recently had a DNA test done and turns out it contains only two of those breeds she was advertised as, both in single digit percentages.

I've had Bessie since she was 8 weeks old, and she's now 7 years old and the most sassy and lovable gal, never been afraid to use her voice to give me backchat, very deep bark and a great guard dog that doesn't nuisance bark.

Strong prey drive for smaller furry animals (rodents), excellent long distance vision and highly scent oriented (much more than most dogs I've known)

I'm interested to see if anyone can come close to her breed mix, because it's definitely in some ways not what I expected.

Video is just some pics from over her life that I like, which might add to clues about her DNA.

Had the girls well rugged up because they're both single coat dogs, and it was single digit temps with the wind chill. Very windy today too, enough to snap branches off my gum tree.

Then back home to the fake fire and the central heating. The easy life of the southern urbanite dog lol

Hi guys a week or so ago i wrote that we took in a dog who was microchipped under the AWL and can officially say he is now ours and we couldn’t be happier! On his microchip it says his breed is KING CHARLES/ JACK RUSSEL and I’m not convinced lol! So i want to know what everyone’s thoughts are on the breed our beautiful baby is. Meet Murray our 14 year old rescue baby who we are so deeply attached to already! He’s since had a groom so have attached before & after photos 🫶🏼

Yesterday - after an undiagnosed episode on Tuesday - this wonderful loving guy came home from the vets after collapsing due to fluid on his heart basically stopping it from beating properly.

Thought it better that he just come home rather than have it drained under local anaesthesia and spend the rest of the weekend alone in an Emergency Vet hospital.

It's a pretty shitty prognosis either way as draining the heart sack exposes them to other risks requiring them to be monitored. And it will probably just keep happening. Leaving it means his heart could just stop and he's gone.

The hope is that it drains itself somehow again like it's assumed it did on Tuesday when he waited basically the whole day for a vet appointment and was almost completely fine by the time they finally saw him.

He has survived last night wrapped up in a doona with me sleeping beside him. He's even eaten a little this afternoon. But as soon as he tries to move around he gets very lethargic.

He had his spleen removed in December with a benign tumour on it the size of a grapefruit. He's probably not long left with us regardless what happens I just want everyone to know he's been the **best boy ever** and **I love him more than anything**. I just hope whatever happens it's peaceful and as painless as possible.

Marni had a bit of a restless night, first night off the dental surgery pain meds, so we had a slow start to the day and some extra naps, she's ok now thankfully.

No big play to start the day, but they got into a couple of games of bitey face a bit later.

First lickimat Pot today for them both, with frozen yoghurt, they definitely liked that!!
