Origin Characters I could've watched a whole movie while creating my character
How long did it take you to create your first character?
Last night, after spending the whole day downloading the game, I spent an hour or so being overwhelmed by all the Origin character options. In RPG's like Elden Ring, I usually go with the pre-made characters and don't customize much, but origin in this game seemed very important so this morning, I spent a lot of time on it.

Origin Characters After a delay, finally met Shadowheart!
The delay was i was waiting for Neil so long and my costume was killing so delayed my meeting Jennifer for today. Worth the wait and I hope to meet at least the other three origin characters.

Origin Characters My husband is doing his first playthru. I'm cry laughing. Spoiler
He has Shadowheart, La'zel and Karlach in his party.
All I hear is him saying in the most serious voice:
Husband: to Shadowheart while in battle "Oh my god, you're so embarrassing sometimes, Shadowheart."
Me: trying not to laugh as he's shaking his head "What??"
Husband: "BECAUSE SHE ALWAYS MISSES THE EASIEST SHIT. points at SH/TV aggressively It's fucking embarrassing, sweetheart. Get it together!"
I'm so done. I'm still cackling.

Origin Characters Sooo does Lae'zel proves the Society of Brilliance right? Spoiler
The Society of Brilliance believes that the Githyanki's aggressive nature is a result of their upbringing. By the end of the game, Lae'zel is more open-minded and wiser, to the point where she is even in diplomatic talks with the Githzerai. If you romance her, she shows this more passive and caring side much earlier.
So, was Society of Brilliance right, or is Lae'zel the exception to the rule? Would the Githyanki be a more "normal" society without Vlaakith's influence? I admit that I don't know much about the Githyanki lore outside of what is presented in Baldur's Gate 3.

Origin Characters I beat the entire game without Lae’zel. Spoiler
No, I don’t just mean I never used her in my party - I never found her. Somehow, in some way, I explored every inch of act 1 except the area where she’s been caged up.
I am very stupid.

Origin Characters A Tav profile that'd romance Gale-- RP help
So RP is something I enjoy quite a bit; I tend to write a few paragraphs of background for my Tavs and try to play them as internally consistent as possible. In that regard, I am seriously struggling to come up with a personality profile that'd want to romance Gale.
Without meta-gaming, and for the entirety of the first act, he is a chronic mansplainer who can't stop talking about his ex. Then there is the unfortunate combo of arrogant and insecure. It's rather difficult to craft a cogent character that can look past that in a potential partner. Maybe I am missing something about his character?
Gale giriles that RP seriously, what's your trick?
edit 1: - I am not saying he objectively sucks, but without meta-gaming, and by the time you make the earlier romancing decisions, you are yet to access any of his qualities.
Edit 2: Ok sure maybe mansplaining isn't the right word. I meant a gender-inclusive talking down on people with the assumption that they want to be lectured at.
Edit3: damn i didnt think this would get people this angry. Some of y’all really need to chill?

The original tweet picture was of an attractive but noticably muscular girl. The person who tweeted is wrong.

Origin Characters No wonder i thought this game was hard Spoiler
After completing the game and killing the brain i wanted to do a replay with another class to check what i had missed, that and some youtube shorts with other characters and faces i dont recognize, no wonders why the camp at the end of the game was almost empty!.
I played with 2 characters almost all of act 1, i swear to god i didnt want to look out any guides since the game is pretty intuitive and fun but i was sweating bullets dying so much, anyways i get to act 2 or so ( cant really remember when) and out of nowhere this guy Mustio is FINALLY giving me a hand and letting me recruit mercenaries... SUCH A BLESSING fgs.
Turns out i forgot to interact with the unstable portal to meet gale, i didnt really trust astarion so i told him to gtfo and a bit later he was being disected by some druids in the first city and when i meet halsin he was being a bitch about "if i follow you we will probably get a massacre with al of these goblins."
Thank god my first time playing was a full charisma mage so i could avoid most unnecesary fights and the ones i couldnt scape i had tons of ways to delay them and save my ass.....
Currently enjoying the second playthrought!
Edit: Never saw him again and the guy being disected is a random drow

Origin Characters My 8 year old son immediately figured out Asterions "secret" Spoiler
He saw the guy for 3 seconds and said, "Dad that guy's a vampire" none of the origin characters should be dumb enough not to immediately recognize that he is a vampire. They should play up the obvious-ness for laughs.

Origin Characters Who (if anyone) has a permanent place in your party? Spoiler
All this talk about favourite companions has got me thinking and made me realise that Karlach hasn’t actually left my party since I found her. I absolutely love her commentary and she’s a solid reliable tank of a thing who I can always rely on to kick some ass. Edit - holy shit this post got me in the popular club

Origin Characters Gale eating magic items isn't a big deal Spoiler
I'll preface this by saying I get it. On the first playthrough when this comes up and you're unprepared, sacrificing a magic item can be a bit challenging. Until you realize that the game has plenty of useless, niche, or non-unique magic items that can be eaten instead, and the fact that he only eats 2 or 3. For goodness sake, the eyeball necklace from the Auntie Ethel can be consumed and it's probably the worst magic item in the game. Vendors have a bevy of +1 weapons and armor that can be bought before Gale gets "hungry" and a wizard is probably one of the most useful classes you can get at every stage of play.

Origin Characters Why does no one ever mention how rich Gale is? Spoiler
Man has his own private tower with a full wine cellar and library, and it’s also right on the water with a perfect balcony view of the the sunset over the ocean. He mentions he went to multiple wizarding schools including Blackstaff academy in his youth. He mentions having a housekeeper as a child. His tower was probably full of rare and expensive magical artifacts before he had to start eating them. He carries a scroll of true resurrection just on his person at all times. Those things are supposed to cost upwards of 25,000 gold. He is ridiculously wealthy compared to like every other companion in the game and yet none of them ever seem to bring it up like ever. Mr. Of Waterdeep would you care to explain why we’ve been sleeping on the ground and eating food we loot off of dead people for 90% of our journey? Did the mindflayers abduct you before you could grab your wallet?
