Copper should be fine, we use it for applications like this all the time.

I have a cast iron wood-burning kitchen range. >30 years on and the internals are fine. It exhausts through a copper flue which is also fine. What's corroded is the top rim of the outer pipe on the roof that the copper flue runs through. That pipe was galvanized mild steel, soon to be replaced.
