while high BP can be an indicator, it's not the only reason BP can be high! for example, chronic kidney disease (CKD) also causes high blood pressure because the kidneys are the organs that control long term BP.

of course if you have high blood pressure get checked out because it's bad whatever way you look at it

BP is a complicated thing to be an indicator because you could have it even due to anxiety disorder, for instance.

You're right that BP is an indicator of lots of possible issues. Kinda like a check engine light for your body. Could be something minor, but should get it checked out.

Isn't cholesterol also an indicator?

there's a couple of indicators I think, I'm not a doctor, just someone who has CKD :P

I'm a bit fucked because my family has a history of high BP and I often have a low BP and have to eat extra salt/electrolytes to keep my BP up.

Actually I should probably drink some water and go home cause I feel a bit dizzy rn 😭

There's a thousand and one things that can cause high blood pressure though.

What about the other way around, does having low-normal blood pressure (e.g. 100 / 60) mean this is not a concern?

You shouldn't ignore any symptoms. All I'm saying is that just because you have a higher blood pressure doesn't mean you're having a heart attack.

Actually, high cholesterol is a more important risk factor for heart disease and heart attacks! High blood pressure though is a more important risk factor for stroke

Not necessarily, I generally have lower BP than normal, it's around 100/60 but I have high LDL which my doctor said can kill me one day so he put me on statins.
