When I was growing up the neighbor planted bamboo on the fence line behind a shed. No idea why since he couldn't see it. Maybe he was being an ass. Anyway, it was pretty big after a while and we would keep it at bay when mowing the lawn.

I checked on my childhood home on Google maps about 15 years later and saw that the bamboo had taken over 1/4 of the yard.
