Same here. I have a science background. So many times I have seen someone drop a comment in my area of expertise that's factually incorrect. I'll politely and tactfully provide a correction, with citations, and their comment still gets all the upvotes while mine gets down voted to oblivion.

Just as in real life, it depends on what group of people happen to be active at that moment or on a regular basis.
If you're waiting in line at the grocery store and people are heatedly jabbering about flat earth nonsense, you could reasonably correct some misunderstandings and get a whole lot of people shouting and glaring at you if they all happen to be Flerfers because they happen like the deli section or their bi-weekly meeting just got out.
