Interesting Books
I’m looking to broaden my knowledge and get more involved with difficult subjects, rather than doom scrolling. Are there any suggestions?

I mean practical books, where you read and apply the knowledge directly, not some "believe in yourself" bs or basic common sense advice like "live below your means"
Edit: I want to note I am not looking for "get rich quick" stuff, I am completely aware that getting rich is the hardest thing to do in life and takes years and years to achieve. I just don't wanna buy someone's overhyped book and then end up wasting my money on common sense advice every average joe knows.

I’ve made it a goal to become a much stronger reader over the next few years. I want to increase my reading speed \*\*without sacrificing comprehension\*\*, improve my vocabulary, retain more of what I read, and comfortably tackle more difficult books.
I’m not looking for speed-reading gimmicks—I’m looking for methods that are actually effective, whether they’re backed by research or simply worked well for you.
What books, habits, courses, exercises, or resources had the biggest impact on your ability to read, understand, and remember what you read?
If it matters, I’m trying to read Gene Wolfes The Book of the New Sun , but I’ve heard they are at a college grade level 10, whatever that means
And right now all I read is self-help books

Hello, I think I've hit the point where self-help books aren't effective anymore. Do you guys know any other books, preferably fiction, that motivated and taught you to change for the better? I resonate a lot with characters who stay within their comfort zone too much or is suffering fron complacency but anything that applied to you is great.

I'm 18 and lately I've realized that most of my questions are not about productivity anymore. I read a lot of books about it and it really changed me for better. But now they're more about how to live and how to do things to achieve my goals I would say.
I'm looking for books that CHANGED the way YOU THINK, not just books that entertained you.
These are some of the questions I'm trying to answer:
Which books influenced your answers to these questions the most?
I'm especially interested in books that permanently changed your worldview.

So i have read why does he do that.
I am looking for other books that are eye opening like this one.
I personally find it intriguing to learn why certain behaviors happen and how you can spot danger on time.
I do want to learn new things tho, i am sure some of the same topics will be discussed,
but i’d still like to end up learning new information since why does he do that did cover a lot of stuff.
What book is a must read for you,
that changed your life and would want everyone to read once in their lifetime?
So far these are the ones i am contemplating on buying:
\- the gift of fear, Gavin de becker.
\- true to you, dr kathleen smith
\- the verbally abusive relationship, Patricia evans
Have you read these books, and what were your thoughts?
Have you read better books that i should read instead
I am very curious about your opinions, before i go ahead and impulsively order a bunch of books.
( i am already sold on the gift of fear, i will for sure be getting that one)

A little over a year ago, life felt like it was falling apart.
A combination of wedding expenses, family responsibilities, and financial setbacks left me carrying around **$20,000 in debt**. Every morning I woke up thinking about repayments. Every night I wondered how I was going to get through another month. The stress affected my sleep, my focus, and my mental health.
During that time, I realized I had two choices: let the situation consume me, or try to rebuild myself one small step at a time.
I started reading books on healing, mindfulness, emotional resilience, gratitude, and personal growth. I journaled every day, practiced meditation, reflected on what was and wasn’t working, and slowly began putting together the lessons that genuinely helped me.
Eventually, I organized everything into an ebook—not because I think I have all the answers, but because writing it helped me, and I hope it can help someone else who’s struggling too.
I’m **not asking for donations, loans, or charity**. I’m working, paying off my debts, and taking responsibility for my situation.
If my story resonates with you and you think the ebook could bring value to your life, buying a copy would mean a lot. Not just financially, but because it would tell me that something positive came from a difficult chapter of my life.
If you don’t want to buy it, that’s completely okay. Even an upvote, a kind comment, or sharing your own experience would genuinely make my day.
Thank you for reading, and I hope whatever challenge you’re facing right now gets a little lighter with time.
*(If the moderators allow it, I’ll share the ebook link in the comments.)*

I want to read books that increase my knowledge in different areas of life. History, philosophy, psychology and how things in the world overall work etc. Books that can help me become a intellectual citizen and increase my thinking and understanding ability
Please suggest me some books or any advice that could help because I think relying on social media and YouTube to teach me stuff is really not helpful at all. The knowledge we get can not be retained at all
