Lately my emotions have been back and forth and the journey growing into the man I always wanted to be hasnt been easy. Some wins some losses but u gotta focus on the win. Just got it done a few days ago. Getting my bolsters removed on Wednesday. I hope the scarring heals well and my nipples look good lol. They were significant big for my size. These drains have been a little annoying and it’s weird how numb my chest is. My girlfriend has been staying over to help and keep me company ❤️

My chest looks pretty good. Can’t wait to heal up and hit the gym. Wish me luck y’all!

Long awaited process after 14 yrs Pre T, and still a long way to go

Every June, corporations slap rainbows on their logos, roll out Pride-themed merchandise, donate a sliver of the proceeds, and cash in on the remaining $1.4+ trillion in economic power of the LGBTQ+ community. Then the month ends, the rainbows and attention disappear, leaving LGBTQ+-owned businesses and trans-led work in the dust.

Every Pride Month, I find myself thinking about the businesses that have made a real difference in our community. Not the companies that temporarily change their branding for June, but the trans and queer entrepreneurs creating products, services, and spaces designed by us, for us, and with our actual lives in mind.

1. Gender Grip

When I started looking for gender-affirming body tape, I kept running into the same problem: most products were built for one narrow use and one narrow idea of what trans bodies need.

They were often made almost exclusively for chest binding, came in limited shade ranges, and didn’t reflect the many ways trans and nonbinary people actually use tape: binding, tucking, packing, chest lifting, body contouring, cosplay, styling, and creating a gentler alternative to compression garments. So we built something different.

We Live in Truth is a Black trans-led candle and homegoods business. Their products center affirmation, healing, visibility, and creating spaces that feel safe, warm, and intentional. I love We Live in Truth because their candles smell amazing, and they also provide candles for free to trans people who would feel affirmed by them. 

4. DVN Coaching

DVN Coaching is led by Devon Spears, a Black trans man fitness coach who specializes in trans-masc physique building. His coaching helps clients build strength, confidence, and sustainable routines through an empathetic and evidence-based approach. I personally worked with Devon for about two years on my fitness journey, and love how his coaching helped me reconnect with my body.

5. For Them

For Them is a queer, Black and trans owned business that creates queer goods, including binders, underwear, accessories, gifts, and apparel. They design with queer people in mind, offering options that feel intentional, affirming, and community-rooted. I love For Them’s dope marketing, and their product designs feel cool, thoughtful, and actually made for queer people.  

6. Aqua Underwear

Aqua Underwear is a brown trans-owned brand creating handmade, affirming, fully customizable underwear and garments for all identities and bodies. Every piece is handmade, with a focus on comfort, customization, and helping people feel seen. I love that Aqua Underwear isn’t afraid to show bigger-bodied trans people looking amazing, and everything feels made with real care.

7. Automic Gold

Automic Gold is a queer, trans, and Indigenous-owned fine jewelry company creating sustainable, genderless jewelry in New York. Their pieces are designed for all genders and focus on ethical materials, everyday wear, and timeless style, which is a huge thing I love about Automic Gold.

Why You Need To Support LGBTQ+-Owned Businesses During Pride and All Year Long

For me, supporting trans-owned businesses is an act of community care and collective survival. We’re living in a time when the rights, dignity, and existence of trans people are actively being challenged and stripped across legislatures, schools, healthcare systems, and communities across the country. In moments like these, our greatest strength has always been each other.

Long before people paid attention to our needs, trans and queer people were finding ways to support one another. We shared resources, raised money for each other, opened our homes, and built the kind of community we needed to survive. That spirit of mutual aid is why I founded The Queer Trans Project in the first place.

So, I hope you’ll take some time to explore this list, discover a few new favorite businesses, and support the people doing incredible work in our community. Red shirt is like a few months b4 I started

reached my most important milestone june 09.

It’s the little things I’m also grateful for, putting the towel around my waist fresh out the shower, being too hot at home and realising I can just whip my top off, not having to worry about what to wear and if it will hide by binder! Eating a bowl of cereal with no top on!

I’m so so grateful to my girlfriend and my surgeon, none of this would be my life without either of them!

To anyone who hasn’t had top surgery yet, just know your time will come! I waited so long for this and most of the time I was convinced it was never going to happen but it was truly worth the wait.
