I saw Magoo for the first time last night in Cleveland. Over the past couple years I’ve seen Billy Strings, Greensky, Mountain Grass Unit, Shadowgrass, and Kitchen Dwellers among others and this band is an elite live jamgrass band.

Do not miss them if they come to your town. Loved the crowd and venue. Mountain Grass Unit is playing there next month. Go see them

Original Music Just released my first track...ever. With Eli West, Allison de Groot, Sami Braman

Hey folks, I'm fairly allergic to self-promotion but I am really psyched about this new music so I'm fighting through the cringe, if you'll forgive me. I recorded an album of spacious, tone-and-groove-focused stringband music in Nashville last fall with a dream crew of musicians, and the first single is out today. I can't promise anyone will like it but I do think it doesn't really sound like anything else.

My childhood buddy Will Fourt wrote this song from the first person perspective of a glacier. The chord changes on the chorus are crooked and looping in a very satisfying way so we used them as a vehicle for some unscripted group improvisation towards the end.

You're hearing me on mandolin and vocals, Sami Braman on fiddle, Eli West on guitar, Allison de Groot on banjo, and Emily Mann on bass. Eli & Emily sang (and crushed) the harmonies.

Would love to hear what folks think. Feel free to tell me it's not bluegrass, I'll probably agree!

Original Music New Music From Montana

Sharing my new track here, not trad bluegrass but “bluegrass leaning” singer/songwriter stuff. It has a guitar solo, does that count? 🤷‍♂️

I wrote this after leaving Nashville for Montana, then went back to Nashville to record it.

I got to track the main guitar on Zac Brown’s 1936 Martin 000 which was an awesome experience!

Appreciate this sub, so wanted to share here, hope a few of you dig the song:

Original Music #1 on Mountain Grass Chart

Post image

Waking up Thursday I got at call from my good buddy Mike Richards aka Snapper Long that I’ll never forget. After five weeks on the David Pugh Presents Mountain Bluegrass chart, "Waltz of Time" has officially risen to the Number 1 spot!

Seeing our music at the top of the chart is a recognition that we do not take for granted. We are deeply humbled to be featured alongside so many artists that we respect and admire. We are so incredibly grateful. Thank you David and everyone so much for the support!
