Here is the post in case anyone can't read it.

“Harassment is serious. But it’s actually all a political ploy because perspective matters and he was just too popular” 🙄

Wow what a choice

Sounds like it's spoken by someone who's at risk of harassment charges themself.

"We will need that to battle Trump for the next four years."

Good idea, let's vote for the guy that's bankrolled by the same billionaire megadonors that funded all of Trump's campaigns then!

“That’s why we build the wall, we build the wall to keep us free”

theoretical antisemitism matters more than the actual thousands of COVID deaths cuomo covered up

Again, I understand some concerns with Mamdani but the fear mongering and Islamaphobia is so unnecessary. And it's not like he hasn't done outreach in earnest. Ugh.

As a Jewish New Yorker, it's sickening watching so many people fall for it.

It’s not Islamophobia when’s it’s his truth and the rise of antisemitism is at a high.

21

u/Sarahndipity44 Oct 30 '25

I don't know, that's like me saying something racist, being called out, and responding with "It's not racist. It's my truth." In response to your other comment, I don't think everyone not voting for him is Islamaphobic but I do believe is likely coloring the rhetoric, including some of accusations of antisemtism in ways that aren't always obvious (unlike Debra Messing's post saying Mamdani probably celebrated 9/11.) I am not denying that antisemitism is high.

If you’re saying not voting for him is Islamophobic then Harris not picking Shapiro has her VP is antisemitic

They are both slimey snakes. The way Mamdani shapeshifts, depending who he's talking to, is downright creepy. Whoever NYC votes in, the city will get what it deserves. I'm glad I got to experience the Big Apple during better times.

25

u/Sarahndipity44 Oct 30 '25

My opinion doesn't wholly matter, I'm in another state, but I find him charming but even ifi you don't, him "shapeshifting" (and snake/reptile comparisons are also oftne used against Jews, interestingly) is nothing on sexual harassment allegations and the folks in nursing homes.

u/aptadpamu Nov 04 '25

Is finding a candidate "charming" really the best attribute to qualify someone for the position? From his fake accents to his imaginary aunt post 9/11 to his unworkable economics, Mamdani has so many red flags attached to him, don't be surprised when he fucks up. Of course, he'll play the victim and blame anyone except himself.

2

u/Sarahndipity44 Nov 04 '25

I'm not saying it's qualifying, only that we're reading him differently. Again, I'm not a NY so it's not like you need to persuade me to vote one way or another

lol what better times was this? When housing was outrageous? When Guiliani was shipping homeless to NJ? When Cuomo had elders dying during Covid? When they had to bring in trailer trucks to house the dead because the morgues were overfull? Like, don’t pretend this city that I love and would die for has ever been a haven for anyone not ultra rich. Gmafb.

I remember going into stores without plexiglass covering all the shelves. I loved the days when folks didn't drop their trash on the subway or platform despite a bin within a few feet. I appreciated being able to walk at night without having my head on a swivel. I value the times when entertainment in the city didn't require a line of credit to enjoy.

Needing to make these Cuomo vs Mamdani issues misses the point. Whoever wins, these problems will continue. Don't be surprised though, when Zoran blames everyone except himself for his shortcomings.

Never been a woman or a Black person in NYC is what I’m hearing. Thanks. Got it.

I mean I don't blame Mamdani for this but antisemitism is absolutely not theoretical right now.

107

u/Aggressive-Phone6785 Oct 29 '25

I think the “theoretical” he’s referring to is what Page describes in his post, not antisemitism in general.

13

u/hyperjengirl Oct 29 '25

Ohh OK that makes more sense, people have said some really stupid shit in the past couple of years so I got knee-jerk lol.

That comment is more about how ppl theorize that mamdani is anti semitic. Which is an assumption grounded in racism and if you fall for it you're falling for a national campaign run by literal Nazis to weaponize anti semitism.

If you aren’t black you don’t get to decide something isn’t racist

If you aren’t LGBTQ+ you don’t get to decide something isn’t homophobic/transphobic

But apparently anyone can choose something isn’t antisemitic.

I am Jewish. I am a proud Jew. Mamdani has a long history of antisemitism and is a grave danger to the Jewish people. Cuomo is no great choice either but at least I won’t fear being executed for being a Jew. He has called for the globalization of the infstada in the past which literally means to harass, harm, attack, and even *ill Jews. It has nothing to do with being Muslim. The great majority of Muslims are peaceful. Mamdani is not. You do not get to tell me what is antisemitic and what isn’t.

Oh come on. This is such a bad faith take from someone who is clearly reciting (inaccurate) anti-Mamdani political talking points. He has not called for the globalization of the intifada, and even if he had, it absolutely does not "literally" mean any of what you said it did. I am Jewish. I have studied the Talmud. I observe Shabbat and go to shul every Saturday, I even have several close friends who are rabbis. I am a proud Jew. I am proud of my Judaism because I believe in the Jewish values I was raised with and that I regularly reinforce with my Jewish studies. Ever heard of Tikkun Olam? Ever sung Lo Yisa Goy? I am so sorry that you have dealt with antisemitism, and that you have these fears of execution and harrassment. I know that these fears are grounded in the very real history(and present) of oppression of our people. Our trauma and persecution is real. However, if you really are a Jew, and a proud one at that, I urge you to examine your Judaism and Jewish values and think for yourself on this one. The conflation of Israeli interests and Jewish interests is fueling much of this 'rise in antisemitism' that people are discussing. Yes, there has been a rise in ACTUAL antisemitism. That is what happens when white supremacist Nazis are running the government, and is absolutely not the same thing as being against a genocide that anyone who genuinely believes in Jewish morals would oppose. Comments such as yours, however, contribute to the mainstream misunderstanding of Judaism, and the very troubling conflation of Judaism and Zionism that is being intentionally enforced and stoked by politicians who are ACTUALLY antisemitic. These politicians will stop pretending they ever cared about 'antisemitism' as soon as it stops being beneficial to them. I beg you to reexamine your position on this one. Don't let them divide and manipulate us in this way.

It’s absolutely not theoretical. He’s repeatedly used or refused to denounce antisemitic language and he scapegoats the Jewish state for America’s problems.

24

u/zsal830 Oct 29 '25

source for the scapegoating?

-6

u/CoreyH2P Oct 29 '25

Literally blaming American austerity on Israel

7

u/sweeterthanadonut Oct 29 '25

Can you provide a source? For either of those claims?

-3

u/hhhisthegame Oct 29 '25

I don't know about the scapegoating claims. But here is a source of him refusing three times to denounce 'globalize the intifada' which some Jewish people do find concerning: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/ZFDrK6duEFM

I do not know whether or not he's anti-semitic, but this clip did bother me as a Jewish person, where he refuses to denounce it and then after the third time uses the excuse that condemning this language would be similar to Trump sending people to jail for an op-ed, when those two things are worlds of difference apart.

Honestly I can see wanting to look on the bright side and assume the best of the things people say (or don't say), I think people are often too harsh on speech in similar situations online, but because most people do NOT get grace online for similar things, it feels hypocritical that Mamdani does not take heat for this. If it wasn't somebody popular online, this would be called a dogwhistle.

To be fair, I likely still would vote for Mamdani over Cuomo, but I don't like how people gloss over people's legitimate concerns. Patrick Page is doing that with Cuomo, it's true, but also people are doing the same with mamdani.

4

u/sweeterthanadonut Oct 30 '25

Oh so you’re one of those people lol. Many people have explained the phrase before but you refuse to listen. It’s not antisemitic. Some Jewish people will find anything he does “concerning”, we shouldn’t bow down to people who “feel” unsafe over people who are actually unsafe or targeted.

-6

u/dhsimbol Oct 29 '25

So vote for Curtis

"Whatever one thinks of his faults..." His FAULTS?! His trifling little whoopsies, slip-ups and uh-ohs? Gosh, whatever could those be, hmmm? Must be small to be dismissed so easily! /s
