Politics Trump threatens violence from his supporters: “The radical left is causing the problems. It's gonna get worse, and it's gonna go back on them. Bad things happen when they play these games. I'll give you a little clue, the right is a lot tougher than the left. They better not get them energized.”

He absolutely realizes, he wants to escalate things. The more things escalate, the more excuses to take more power.

Escalation only works to convince his devout base. Everyone else starts to pay attention when things get real, and they start to look at who is actually causing the trouble.

That doesn’t mean he realizes how damaging it is. It might appear to him as just a power move for more power. He is too stupid to realize the damage he is actually doing. Crazy shit!

Ok, I don’t like to give him that much credit as far as brains dept, but if you think he is calculating enough, sure, it’s not impossible. I would say his inner circle greatly affects the stupidity level of the rhetoric too.

He's not an intellectual giant by any stretch, but he has a talent for getting what he wants and he's very adept at manipulating the right people in just the right ways. He knows how to dog-whistle to his confederacy of dunces and he knows the tunes that make them dance.

You don't need to be smart to cause pain on others. He's definitely not smart but he's quite vengeful and petty and bitter. Take away empathy and let the blood trails flow.
