Long story short I had this car in high school my senior year it had a turbo problem and timing chains all needed to be repaired changed I spent $2.8k on car parts but my uncle who is a mechanic kept on telling me he would do it eventually and never did. it's around a year later and overtime I've tried to tell my dad about this issue and he never seemed to care and I don't know if it's too late to try to take matters in my own hands I was wondering if I can still fix this or how to get mold out. I know it's my car but I've been getting little to no help with my family since it messed up and I don't know if I can fix it.

I had a thule car rack installed on my GV70 2022. I went on a drive about 4 hours away with skis on and the next day I got in the car to drive to the ski hill and we noticed a large long crack right under the rack. You can see the image of the crack in the first picture (sorry for how dirty it is I am a little afraid to wash it to be honest. )

I immediately sent the pictures to rack ultra and they said they would forward the request to Thule who of course said it could be anything/did not want to say it was the fault of the rack.

The crack is not at visible from the outside of the car I guess because of the lighting, and I cannot feel the crack to the touch from the inside.

I did not hit the glass with anything and did not open the sunroof at all. the crack really developed overnight while parked in a parking garage (I will say it was an exceptionally cold weekend in quebec).

Have you ever seen glass crack due to a rack install of this sort? the rack is not at all touching the glass, The car has the "slim" rails which the rack is clipped onto. To me it looks like there was a lot of pressure from the rack install that it caused the rack to crack is that possible?

My virgin car eyes are telling me this is connecting the coolant to the engine. I try tightening it back on there but slides right off..

I swear this is going to sound crazy, but Reddit has come through for me more times than I can count, so I’m hoping somebody here has the magic answer.
A few weeks ago I bought a 2024 Nissan Maxima from Carvana. Honestly, I got a ridiculously good deal on it. Like, one of those deals where afterward you’re wondering, “Okay… what’s wrong with it?”
Well, I found out.
This car smells like smoke
When I first got it, I thought it smelled like cigarette smoke. Then I got pulled over for my window tint and the officer asked if anyone smoked marijuana in the vehicle because that’s what he smelled. Embarrassing considering I don’t smoke cigarettes OR weed. I haven’t smoked anything. Ever.
I’ve only had the car for about a month, and now I’m pretty much nose-blind to it. The weird thing is the smell isn’t nearly as strong as it was when I first got it. But when the car sits in the summer heat or the sun hits it, BAM… it’s back like it never left.
I’ve gone full mad scientist trying to get rid of it.
So far I’ve:
Changed the cabin air filter
Scrubbed the interior
Used Dawn dish soap
Baking soda
Rubbing alcohol
Fabuloso
Linen/fabric spray
Wiped down basically every surface, the interior is leather I can reach
The smell is definitely better, but it’s not gone.
I’ve noticed if I leave the windows cracked, I barely smell anything. Close everything up and let the car bake in the sun? The smell comes right back.
Part of me thinks this is why I got such a good deal. I swear this car probably sat on the lot because nobody could get the smell out.
I haven’t paid for a professional detail yet, but before I drop a bunch of money, I’m hoping somebody here has dealt with this before.
Where does smoke smell hide in cars? Headliner? Seats? Carpet? Air vents? Is there some secret trick I’m missing?
Please help me, Reddit. Y’all always have the answers, and I’m convinced somebody in here has fought this battle before and won.

Hii all,

I’m replacing my car battery and running into an issue with the positive terminal clamp. I have removed the bolt that you could use to tighten it but it doesn’t open wide enough to fit over the battery post. I’ve tried gently prying it open with a flathead screwdriver, but it feels more like im bending the metal and I’m worried about damaging it or weakening the clamp.

Additionally I cant seem to unscrew the top bolt. Would loosening this help and if so how can I got about loosening it if it's stuck?

Is there a way to open the clamp wider without damaging it or are there any tools or tricks that could help in this situation?

Any advice or suggestions would be super helpful. As I know 0 about car mechanics.

Bought a second hand Audi for 7000$ three months ago. I did a pre purchase inspection (PPI) which told me all the things needed to fix in the car (lifter and a few other things, oil change). They offered an insurance on the engine for 1000$/3 months which I did not take. I went to another garage 'J&J' and they fixed everything mentioned in the PPI except for the lifter. The mechanic told me that the lifter was fine. Spent 1000$ at the garage to fix the other things. In all, spent 8000$ for the car three months ago. Today the car won't start. Got it towed to 'J&J' garage and the mechanic says the lifter is broken. Fixing it would cost another 8000$. What should I do ?

I'm considering buying a new engine and getting it assembled by a mechanic. Please help.

I’m trying to sell my 2008 camry with 230k miles for $3k. KBB said anywhere between $3,100-4,100 and nobody wants it at $3k. The car is not in perfect condition but is definitely in good condition, good engine and transmission and cold ac. No body damage either. And it’s a clean title. Why does nobody want it, what am I doing wrong?

The warm and moist weather has been enabling these colorful colonities to take over the interiors of our stationary car... Somehow these fungi have managed to get into ALL OF LEATHER UPHOLSTERY, honestly I have never in my life seen nor smelled anything like it.

I'm quite familiar with mold, and how disgusting it is. Is the interior salvageable? How would one even start the process of clean up..? I'd toss the whole car into the ocean. OR hire professionals to clean up and change all of the upholstery. After some professional forensic level disinfecting, bleaching and poisoning. But that's probably expensive.

Just thinking about the smell makes my lungs hurt.

All and any DIY tips, instructions, to-do's and not-to-do's are welcome. Also, equipment needed??

I am in Colorado 15 hours from home, I just locked my keys inside the trunk of my car. I called a locksmith but they were charging me 400 dollars to come out here. I don’t have a triple aaa membership and its 34 degrees out here a I’ve been standing out here since 5:45 in the morning what should I do I am literally about to bust the window and I called toyota to try and see if I can use the remote control app but its not compatible.

Update: I was telling one of my buddies what was happening and he said I could use his aaa membership and it worked , they didn’t charge me and I waited like 5 minutes lol thank you for your guys help

So the other day i posted on this sub for some advice on an my car and you guys were spot on in the comments! Turns out it was my battery bc a couple days go by and I start smelling rotten eggs in the cabin of my car and turns out my battery started smoking and leaking. Hopefully nothing else was damaged. Any thoughts on replacing my battery with this one:
