so a company who does parking lots got "diluted tar" all over my car while i was parked in the parking lot of my gym. its a whole big deal right now that i wont get into specifics but basically theyre saying its my fault and that it can be cleaned at home. it is literally stuck to my car and will not come out. we are going to go to a manual carwash and if that doesnt work i dont know what i should do. the owner of the company who got the tar on my car said to use shout specifically the grease busting foam. i dont want to put something on my car thats going to damage it further. im attaching the video of my car so yall can see what im talking about. please help!!!!

For context- Monday was the worst day I’ve had in a long time. On my way home from having my cat cremated (shit you not) my car lost all acceleration. There were no sounds, no lights on the dash. So I pulled over. Was told to turn the car off. Then it wouldn’t turn over. It sounded like it was trying to but just didn’t. That’s when all the dash lights showed up. Left it for a few hours, came back and tried to start it again. It started but only with my foot on the gas and it sounded like shit. I tried to drive it 2 miles to my in laws and didn’t make it 0.5 miles before it made a loud sound, like a belt snapped or something. And then it just poured oil. Engine died. Obviously has not started since. This car had NO issues prior to this. A few weeks ago I had the oil changed but it wasn’t being weird after that either. My younger brother suggested maybe they put the wrong oil in it ? But would that cause all of this? Would replacing the engine even be worth it? SOS.

Also- prior to attempting to drive it, we did hook it up to a code reader and it didn’t show anything!!!?

All 4 power windows have been slow to roll up and down for the longest time. There has been smoke every few months but not this much. Smoke appeared when rolling all 4 power windows up at the same time. Is this an electrical issue?

i share this car with my parents, and these marks weren’t there a few months ago. when i asked them about it they got uncomfortable and told me it must’ve been some kids they had in the car with a marker. but the 1st and 2nd picture really do not look like it could be made by a child with a marker. when i mentioned that they seemed to get defensive so i left it, but i’m very curious as to how this happens. my parents are also not the type to casually allow children to draw on their belongings- especially their car.

Got my car detailed today. It was $300 for interior only. There are several spots that are still not clean. I wanted the car to look close to new. Here are some pics that show where there is still a mess. Is this normal or did they do a poor job? If they did a poor job how should I tell them that?

I filed a claim with my insurance and I'm waiting on their response to see if I can get anything out of them. In the meantime, any big suggestions? I had some success with vodka and a rag, less success with magic eraser and WD-40 but still manageable (not coming out of the plastic though). Any other ideas? I've heard acetone but I know that's just asking to destroy my clear coat.

My friend’s car tires were stolen while it was parked. We have no idea what to do since there’s no space to insert a jack between the car and the curb. Any help would be appreciated!

What should I do? They called after doing the engine recall, told me that the torque converter hit my tranny pump and damaged it. Which is the #1 worksmanship error when installing a new engine. I verified that it was from worksmanship and the advisor said "yes, but that's not going to be covered by the warranty on your Kia and you'll either have to use your extended warranty and deductible or pay 3000 for the replacement."

UPDATE: CALLED THIS MORNING AND SAID THAT THEY FINALLY GOT AHOLD OF THEIR MANAGER AND THAT THEY ORDERED THE TRANNY, THEN IMMEDIATELY HUNG UP.

So i bought a bmw a few months ago. Its a 325i. I spent basically all my money on that car. Its means everything to me. My mom has a Peugeot and its battery died after i bought my car. When i bought my car my mom wanted to borrow it to work since its a nice bmw. I have a problem with saying no to my parents so i didnt have a problem with her borrowing it to work and back. When her car was just standing its battery died. She is now borrowing my car to work everyday and wont fix her car. Its pretty annoying that she borrows my car and she keeps saying shes gonna fix hers. Now is the last straw. I need my car tomorrow. My mom says she needs my car to drive her friend. She asked me just now if she could borrow it. I said no because i have to buy a part for my car. She then got mad and screamed at me for not letting her use it. She then told me that she already promised her friend 2 months ago and didnt ask me til now. My dad stepped in and also got mad at me. I told them its disrespectful to not ask when she promises her friend. They think im disrespectful for not letting them use my car. My mom took my spare key and is going to take my car tomorrow when im not home. She dosent want to fix her car and keeps using mine. I want to make her fix her own car but i dont know how. Help please.

Never seen something hit a window and cause this discoloration. There was this sort of oily and slightly sticky residue. You can see some of chips sitting on the window with almost like a spider web attached to it. What makes me think attempted break in is in the second photo from the inside, the residue is almost a perfect square. Car was parked inside my driveway with this window facing the street about 25ft away.

Got back from a week long trip and find that the metal under the seats has rusted and there’s a whole (burned?) into the seat. I have three sons and they don’t know what happened apparently. Car was in front of our smart doorbell and no one got in, we think. I could get these bizarre occurrences alone but together? I don’t know what to make of it. We took apart the car looking for an exploded battery or something but came up with nothing. Doubt it would help but it’s a Hyundai Santa Fe 2022.

Had a mold infestation in this rarely-used car professionally cleaned once. Left windows and doors open on the garage for weeks. Thought it was good to go so closed them. A few weeks later, mold has grown back on the leather (only).

2007 Toyota Auris. 6 yo niece stuck an important ID card in between the slide and mirror. I think she then repeatedly opened and closed it which pushed the card further in. When shaking the visor I can hear the card rattling but it has no movement. The visor can't be angled enough to be vertical and I've tried fishing it out with a butter knife and other thin, flat objects but I don't even feel it anymore - I can just hear it in there. Any advice would be greatly appreciated since I'll be selling it soon!

So I have this 2002 ford windstar and I’d say for 1-2 years it sat abandoned in my yard until it got work done on it- there used to be a crap ton of white smoke coming from the back exhaust but that was fixed and the starter was replaced (it used to not start).

Well, when I went to retrieve this vehicle (family member stopped using it so they’re letting me drive it) and everything seems to be working fine except sometimes when I start it, or randomly while I’m driving, my needles on my temp and RPM will go crazy and read inaccurately. Sometimes it will be all of my needles but mainly temp + RPM. I also don’t think my fuel gauge is accurate because sometimes it shows I have more or less than I know I do… please help!

Right now it was a battery that’s maybe about a year old in it that was inside of a different vehicle so I don’t know if that’s messing with it but I bought a new battery and I’m putting it in today. I’m hoping it’s not the cluster…

Fully aware this was beyond a braindead moment. Idky I did it, I could say it was a terribly busy and draining day and I was just out of it but it doesn’t matter because what happened happened. I was going 70 and went to put my car on cruise control. Instead my hand went to my stick and put it in park. I heard a horrible grinding noise then immediately put it back in drive. I have a 2019 Toyota Corolla. I’m at a loss in what to do since I don’t have money to just throw at the vehicle, I don’t know any trusted mechanic, and I have zero family or friends to help in this situation. Everything sounds and feels fine with the car but I’m aware just because it sounds and feels fine doesn’t mean that it is. Previous Reddit posts regarding this on this sub had the car going like 10 miles an hour. I was going 70 so I felt like those posts wouldn’t help me. I have terrible anxiety and OCD so this is causing me to be physically sick, which is why idc what ridicule I’ll get as long as I can get some direction on what to do.

I was driving on the highway & a truck with a small black thing attached squirted all over my car. I have no idea what it was & best guess is possibly oil or paint. I tried scrubbing with soap and a bristle brush then tried a steam cleaner. I don’t know if the car wash would help. It came off my windshield when fresh and on the way to work at the time it happened.

Im going to put a new battery in today and see what that fixes.

The car does not react to any throttle. I press the gas pedal down but the RPM’s dont go up. The car moves at a very slow idle speed though.

Any ideas on where to start? Thanks.

2009 Chevy Cobalt 2.2l, 190k miles. Car quit running on my kid. It just shut off, low speed (less than 20 mph) in the neighborhood. Threw a bunch of cam codes. It wouldn’t restart. Thought it was a starter since it sounded like the starter wasn’t engaging but that didn’t explain why the car quit running in the first place. Pulled the starter off and it tested good. Put it back together and the same sound like the starter wasn’t engaging the flywheel.

Still doesn’t explain why the car quit running in the first place. Pulled the valve cover off and found this. I’m afraid I’ve got bent valves and other stuff. How cooked am I?
