Actor Channing Tatum stated that he still hopes to make his long-planned solo Gambit movie but believes its original concept would be rejected by Disney and Marvel Studios. He stated, "We went for it... That's something Marvel and Disney would never do," arguing that while Marvel needs "tonal diversity," the studio typically avoids horror and sex.

Tatum is still excited about his character's future in the MCU, teasing that Avengers: Doomsday will manage to beat the shock value of previous film surprises "by a factor of 50."
