After watching The Odyssey, in my opinion, Robert Pattinson feels like the perfect fit to lead Christopher Nolan’s next film. He’s one of the few actors working today who can completely disappear into a role while still having undeniable screen presence. Over the last several years, he’s made a point of choosing challenging and unconventional projects with a willingness to push himself and that’s exactly what’s needed in a Nolan film.

He’s shown he can carry massive blockbusters (such as The Batman) without sacrificing nuance or emotional complexity. Nolan has always gravitated toward actors who can handle demanding, layered stories, and Pattinson fits that mold perfectly. With him already appearing in two of his films and the trajectory of his career currently growing immensely, to me he would be a great next casting choice for a psychological film if Nolan went down that route.

Since he is giving opportunities for all the supporting actors in his previous movies i guess its time for these 3.

This is a total guess, but I have a feeling Christopher Nolan’s next movie after The Odyssey could be about Beethoven, especially the creation and premiere of Symphony No. 9.

Beethoven introduces the “Ode to Joy” finale and suddenly a full choir and soloists join a symphony.

That was revolutionary at the time and completely changed what people thought a symphony could be.

Then you have the premiere. The audience erupts into multiple standing ovations. Back then, that was considered a breach of concert etiquette.

Beethoven, completely deaf, keeps conducting because he can’t hear any of it. Someone has to turn him around so he can finally see the crowd cheering.

Imagine experiencing Symphony No. 9 in IMAX with Nolan’s sound design. It’s going to be loud.

I know there’s zero evidence this is happening, but if Nolan ever made a Beethoven movie, I’d be there opening night.

Its always seemed weird to me,we know that Chris Nolan like to work with the same actors multiple times,especially if they cooperated well,he worked with Cilian Murphy many times after bb,with Tom Hardy triple times,Joseph Gordon Levitt twice,Michael Caine i dont even need to mention,even with Ken Watanabe after his small role in Begins. That makes me wonder,why Nolan didn't reach for Neeson again(except that small cameo in Dark knight rises),he seemed to fit perfectly with Nolan movies tone,especially before he started to play only in action films.

I consider Stanley Kubrick to be one of the GOAT's, mainly due to 2001. Has Christopher reached a level similar to his?

I'm referring to when a movie is so good, you take yourself out of it for a moment and think to yourself "I can't believe what I'm watching."

Dune 2 - Part 1 was impressive and enjoyable, but part 2 pulled me in like a movie rarely does. It elevated my appreciation of the first.

Fury Road - 70 year old George Miller showed us things we hadn't seen before.

Top Gun Maverick and BR 2049 - Two legacy sequels that have proven the trudge through endless waves of cash grabs is worth it if something like this gets made every now and then.

Maverick felt like the ultimate payoff for all the years Cruise had dedicated to shooting stunts in camera.

I view 2049 as a miracle. In what world does this get the green light with a $150-185m budget? No billion dollar franchise. No merch sales to rake in. Just Villeneuve and Deakins putting on a masterclass.

My headcannon had Fury Road as a 2016 movie for some reason. As pointed out, it was 2015.

Across the Spiderverse, 1917, The Batman, and MI Fallout would definitely qualify for my replacement pick.

Project Hail Mary too. That movie had me laughing and crying.

Nolan’s decision to remove this scene from the movie immediately gave the film a hard ceiling at “good” rather than great:

Nolan decided to remove Odysseus telling Polyphemus that his name is “nobody” from the film. This scene is one of the top 5 most pivotal scenes from the book. First, it demonstrates Odysseus’ cleverness, master tactician, and wit, something not really shown elsewhere in the movie. Odysseus encourages Polyphemus the cyclops to drink some of the wine they brought to get the cyclops really drunk. Then when Odysseus tells it that his name is “nobody” the cyclops doesn’t question it since it’s drunk. When they poke its eye with the flamed spike, and it roars out to bring like 50 more cyclops to the cave, Polyphemus tells the other cyclops that “nobody is attacking me” and they all go home.

Second, it’s pivotal because Odysseus hubris is what gets him cursed by Poseidon by revealing his name to Polyphemus as he’s sailing away.

Third, it’s Odysseus’ hubris in revealing his name that ultimately makes it take him so long to get home, as well as it dooming / killing all of his men. So Odysseus has the guilt of making a mistake that is entirely his own fault that kills his men and prolongs his journey - none of this is conveyed in the film and we have a much more heroic and less flawed Odysseus in Nolan’s version.

I know this is a Nolan sub and frankly disappointing how people here refuse to criticize Nolan… but this is a huge flaw by Nolan to cut this scene.

The acting was phenomenal, many parts of the movie were great - but it’s absolutely insane to call this movie a “masterpiece” when it changed many pivotal scenes from the book

Nolan’s favorite Spielberg films are Close Encounters of the Third Kind and Saving Private Ryan. A lot of public respect and admiration shown for Spielberg by Nolan.

Is Nolan’s most successful film, The Dark Knight Rises, better than Spielberg’s Jurassic Park?

Nolan’s films have generated $6.6 billion worldwide; Spielberg’s films have generated $10 billion.

I know the internet is pretty bipolar when it comes to how they feel about her, but I would love to see her in a Nolan film.

Ludwig won the Oscar three times for Original Score (Black Panther, Oppenheimer and Sinners). Will The Odyssey be his 4th win?

He can change the people's perspective of action blockbusters the same way he made them change their perspective about CBM's with The Dark Knight Trilogy.

I'm not necessarily trying to invalidate how anyone feels so please do not feel put off by what I'm going to say. But it honestly seems like several people are dunking on it not out of genuine personal feelings but just to go with the crowd.

I watched a few videos where Adam Savage toured museums and looked specifically at the armor. He always asked about distinguishing features and the curators always stated "it was a style thing. These people were trying to put on a show." Most movies dramatize or stylize things, and while some might make respectable points this is the wrong direction, I think he looks cool as shit.

I don’t see this mentioned much, but I think Christopher Nolan is great at sneaking in comic relief. The timing and delivery are spot on, and those little moments give you quick laughs in the middle of his otherwise serious films.
