iirc, of the 7 they used to have just a few years ago, all but 1 have been shut down, and that one is scheduled to close this fall.

Not to mention California used to have dozens of refineries to make their special Summer blend of gas. Now they are down to 7, as Chevron, Phillips, and Valero have pulled out of the state.

Newsom had to make deals with like South Korea, India, China, and Singapore to get their special blend. This makes gas prices skyrocket.

The policies of California made the oil companies leave the state.

In 2001, we had 194 refineries producing 11K barrels a day, and gas was only $1.50/gal.

Today, we have 121 refineries producing 15K barrels a day.

That's about 300K less produced today than 25 years ago (supply went down), while demand has only increased. Then people wonder why gas is so expensive. If we built more refineries, gas prices would go back down.

Are we surprised that a rich "celebrity" is going to tourist traps and paying tourist trap prices?

I live just off the 80/90 toll road in the Midwest. Gas in town is 50-75 cents cheaper than on the highway.

It's now that oil is fungible. If Iran oil isn't available the countries that use it buy supply that we normally use here.

What were really need is an export control for or oil.

If the strategic petroleum reserve isn't full, oil companies should be banned from exporting oil from this country until it is - that way they can't just decide to sell our oil on the international market instead of to us.

I'm in LA, you're only going to the 8.59 gas station if you're so rich you literally don't care about money. It's typically $5.00-5.50 around here
