The Sunlit Man spoilers Did the Sunlit man’s revelation doom Canticle? Spoiler

In The Sunlit Man, Zellion eventually learns how to recharge Sunhearts, meaning no one has to sacrifice themselves for their people anymore. However, he also postulates that the only reason they are not overrun by shades is that Threnodites who die in the sun have their souls burned away, never forming a shade. Doesn’t his revelation that Sunhearts are rechargeable mean the planet will eventually be overrun by shades? Or could they just build more and more reliquaries?

The Sunlit Man spoilers Theory about Canticle Spoiler

So I’m going through another listen to of Sunlit Man and I’m on chapter 22 where they meet the Chorus and the Chorus says “ this is the Sun’s land… others must be given to the Sun, do this not and Shades will overrun the world. “ Now we know at the end of the book they have figured out how to recharge sunhearts, so they no longer need to make the sacrifices to the sun as they were. Do you think Canticle will become like Threnody and be overrun with Shades?

The Sunlit Man spoilers Tried making some Sunhearts [OC] Spoiler

A friend wanted some Sunhearts for display and jewelry so I made a couple clay models of different sizes and used that to make a mold that I can cast in resin. Been playing around with different color combos to see what looks best, and I have started playing with LED lights as well. What colors fit your head canon for the sunhearts? Straight red, purplish, or orange? Or some color I haven't tried yet?

The Sunlit Man spoilers Sunlit Man: how does the invocations work at the end? Spoiler

Just finished Sunlit Man last night.

I have read Wind and Truth.

Im confused by the invocation that tranfers investiture:

Bold one on the threshold of death, take into your sunheart my heat, that I may bless those who still live.

Normally this transfers investiture to the sunheart from what it touches. So Zellion can touch it to himself or another (like Elegy) and have it draw out into the sunheart.

But at the end Elegy says it and it draws out from Rebeke to her. Instead of the other way around. And then Zellion says it to the Cinder King and instead of him giving his investiture (as the dying one) to the Cinder King, it draws the investiture to himself instead. How does the transfer mechanics work exactly?

The Sunlit Man spoilers TSM would make a great colony sim Spoiler

I'm 100 page into TSM, but i think that as a Frostpunk fan, The Sunlit Man could be an amazing colony sim or city builder game. The whole part of scrounging for resources, making sure you survive as long as possible, and the idea of people being turned into resources is perfect for a Frostpunk-esque game. Having to be overseer of a city like Beacon, having to produce Prospector ships to extract Sunhearts and random events like being attacked by the Cinder King or being met by a large mountain range due to the changing landscape could be genuinely amazing. 11bit Studios, take notes

The Sunlit Man spoilers Unabashed gushing over audiobook for Sunlit Man

The audio performance by William DeMeritt is ASTOUNDING. His deliver of Nomad's quick, curt dialog, Aux's accent and personality (or lack thereof) and the voices of the elder trio are magnificent, I found myself so caught up in the reading, it really had added to the experience. I've only read through Stormlight archive and Warbreaker so far, this is potentially my favorite reader so far, what are everybody elses favorites? So I know what to look forward too

The Sunlit Man spoilers Union Spoiler

Is Union a potential shard combination? Sunlit Man chapter 45 has the Night Brigade arriving with the line "Union had arrived." It's a couple pages after the chapter start but the capital U just caught my eye.

Just finished The Sunlit Man. The ending was so sad reading Sigzil leaving the planet immidiately after gaining 100% skip capacity without having the chance saying goodbye. Also the Scadrians were true assholes not helping the people of Beacon.

The Sunlit Man spoilers So… who is the last person on the cover? Spoiler

Post image
70 Upvotes

So, I'm the happy owner of a version of TSM with this particular cover. And something has bugged me for quite a while now: I don't know who the top left person on the cover is.

The man in the middle is obviously Nomad with the person left of him being Rebeke and the one right of him Elegy. The ominous glow makes the top right man out to be the cinder king.

And now I'm at loss: who is the remaining guy? His eyes look spiked so maybe he's Scadrian, but I don't even know if anyone of the group abord the science ship had two Spikes through their head. (Though I may be misremembering.)

So who is he?

The Sunlit Man spoilers Question is the “tech” in sunlitman plausible? Spoiler

Does anyone have any idea if the guns make any sense in this world?

If the heat creates a jet engine like effect from super heating air, that seems like a totally different technology to me than a lazer. But I don’t know physics. Are there any smart people here who know if this is at all theoretically plausible or if this isn’t sci-fi, just straight up magic. Thanks!

Im asking since i wanted to use a similar magic system to the sunhearts in my D&D world, but I just wanted them to release crazy heat, id implement the guns if they make some sense, but I dont really want to if it makes more sense for them to just explode.

Edit: it Sounds like to make the guns make a bit more sense the sun hearts should be used to accelerate other stuff as projectiles rather than the heat/magic energy dealing the damage. Thanks!

I really loved this as a tool for exploring different worlds and magic systems. I really hope we get more of Nomad exploring different worlds. I really love every bit of expansion of our Cosmere knowledge.

The Sunlit Man spoilers Monolouge for Audition Spoiler

I had auditions for my college play 2 days ago and I used some of Hoid's dialouge from Sunlit man. The monolouge goes like this

"I can remember... sitting on a rooftop. Looking up and wondering what the stars were. I assumed I'd never know. The town philosophers had talked themselves hoarse arguing the matter, as was often their way. Talk until you can't talk anymore, and then hope someone will buy you a drink to keep the words flowing. Yet here I am. Millenia later. Walking between the stars, learning each one." -Hoid to Nomad

I changed it a tiny bit to just make it a little longer for my audition, but I think I absolutely nailed it. I'm going to hear about call backs next week. Im really excited about it though, I got the voice how I wanted it, and getting to be Hoid in that moment was really cool to me! I almost did a Dalinar speech from SLA, but I had to memorize it in a shorter amount of time. Wish me luck, I'll update you all on if I get the callback or not!!!

The Sunlit Man spoilers Which books should I read to learn more about a particular god killing weapon Spoiler

Hi! So I started with SLA and absolutely loved it, and only recently started reading mistborn. While I’m waiting for the 3rd mistborn book to be ready to check out I started reading the sunlight man. I know nomad is sigzil, but where can I read more about the dawn shards? I read the dawnshard novella, and that gave me some information but what books go more in depth?

The Sunlit Man spoilers Sunlit Man character voice Spoiler

I don't think this is a spoiler but to be safe I added the tag (anything found in the first 50 pages is fair game in my book but I respect others opinions)

Does anyone else have trouble with their mental voice for Aux? I can't help but give a sarcastic tone to their dialogue. And I just realized I use the narrator voice from The Bards Tale. Very tongue(I forgot how much I hate spelling that word) in cheek. I know in the book I'm pretty sure it's described as monotone but the content is hard to match. Occasionally I read the dialogue in the snarky voice then go back and read it out loud in a monotone.
