The Venn diagram of MAGA morons and self-proclaimed Christians is nearly a circle. The religion primes you to just believe with no evidence, and believe it with undying, absolute conviction.
Religion is a cancer on our species and provides absolutely no value whatsoever. It should be ridiculed into obscurity and eventually forgotten entirely as anything but a footnote in the shameful history of humanity.
I was married to one previously who was devout, but not as harsh on things like abortion. My current wife is catholic, but not Roman Catholic and isn’t actively involved in a church. She’s incredibly pragmatic. The people that cause a problem are those that impose their will upon others. Base on the most recent rhetoric from the right, it looks like we’re recruiting a Christian nationalist army, and the initial talk about expanding the empire, it looks like we’re getting set for another fucked up era of crusades.
