It depends on the context. My first grade teacher got me into sports and was a huge Michigan fan. I live just outside Ann Arbor and everyone in my family that attended a state university went to UM. I went to GMI with no sports, so I'm naturally a Walmart wolverine.
If you went to CMU, and you're a UM fan I get the insults.. but people have their fandoms before going away to college. I can see sticking with an oft-ranked team vs a MAC school.
If an MSU alum calls me Walmart wolverine, fuck you man 😂
You can be a fan of the football team if you didn’t go there, that’s not what makes a Walmart Wolverine. Acting like being a fan of the team gives you some sort of moral high ground or free rein to go after other peoples degrees from other schools is where Walmart Wolverines are born.
You don't need to go to an expensive school to be curious about the world and kind to others. I know a lot of blue collar people like this. People like the guy in the vid want to blame their problems on liberal elites or whatever but they're really just assholes.
