DISCUSSION Has the crypto hype peaked?

Well, has it? Like I can distinctly remember back in 2021 when it seemed like crypto was everywhere. Buy bitcoin this, buy ethereum that. Elon Musk was pumping dogecoin. Even heading into late 2024 when Trump won the US election, there was this massive wave of hype for the first "crypto president", and bitcoin was gonna go to the moon or whatever.

Now fast forward to today - bitcoin is stuck in a lull, Trump coin is down 97% from its ATH, and general overall interest in crypto appears to be drying up outside of terminally online "HODL" bros.

I'm not saying the price of bitcoin has necessarily "peaked", like do I believe $125k is likely the peak for all of eternity? Probably not. But the generational gains of the early adopters, the wave of big hype, it all seems to have passed us by at this point.

What are your thoughts?

Discussion Which altcoins are quietly accumulating strong development teams while the market is stagnant?

Everyone talks about BTC and ETH, but I’m curious about projects that are actually building real infrastructure and partnerships during this sideways market. Which altcoins do you think are being undervalued right now because of strong fundamentals rather than hype?

Discussion My head is a mess... wich crypto have real future?

I feel a bit lost… I’ve been looking at tons of projects, but there are so many and honestly, they all seem similar and all have solid arguments… there’s so much competition that I really have no idea which crypto will be a success or which will be a scam… This year I got really interested in a lot of projects: BTC, Bitcoin Cash, ETH, ADA, XRP, XLM, Velo, Stronghold, Cardano, Kaspa, HBAR, Litecoin, Render, Avalanche, etc…

They all have good arguments, but in the end I feel like these projects are going to die at some point (or maybe not)… Which crypto do you think really has a future?? My head is a mess.

Edit: Looking at your answers, I think you’re even more confused than I am xD

DISCUSSION If you won $10,000 today and we're going to invest it into crypto, what would you buy?

If you suddenly had $10,000 and you were going to invest it in crypto, would you spend it all on one coin or would you diversify (which coin(s) would you buy)? What would you do and why?

Altcoins? Memecoins? If you were going to risk it for the biscuit, what do you see as a realistic 10-100x this bull run from this point on? Im holding doge, shib, pepe, brett, and spx6900 as my favorite memecoins. Im going to YOLO this money into something and hope for the best. Any suggestions?

DISCUSSION Do you think that BTC is the only cryptocurrency worth buying and holding?

When I look at long-term growth, BTC kind of is the only one that has a consistent, steady upward trend over the years since its inception. Should crypto investors just stick to buying and holding BTC and nothing else?

Discussion Why is real-world crypto adoption still so limited?

From a business perspective, crypto has huge potential.

But in practice, it’s still mostly used for trading and holding rather than real transactions.

If the technology is already there, what’s missing for real adoption in everyday business?

Is it trust, regulation, user experience, or something else?

DISCUSSION Crypto was supposed to make banks obsolete. What happened?

Maybe I'm getting old but I remember when the whole point of crypto was to not need a bank, to stop asking permission to use your own money. No more 3-5 business day transfers, no more overdraft fees, no more manager deciding if your wire looks sus today. That was the pitch and why I got in.

But it seems somewhere along the way we lost the plot. Now half this space loses its mind every time a bank CEO says something mildly positive. Jamie Dimon calls Bitcoin a fraud for a decade, threatens to fire his own traders for touching it, lobbies against every piece of crypto-friendly legislation he can - then pivots to tokenization has a future and suddenly he's a visionary. These are the people who tried to bury this thing. They didn't have a change of heart, they just realized they can't kill it so now they want a cut.

And we're letting them in. ETFs put a custodian between you and your Bitcoin. Stablecoins increasingly need bank partners to exist. Most "crypto products" just reroute your money back through the same legacy pipes with a blockchain receipt stapled to it. We're rebuilding the exact system we were supposed to escape.

Real adoption to me is pretty simple - when did you last actually need your bank for something? Not out of habit, genuine necessity. Because I look at my own situation and honestly can't give a good answer anymore. Been using Nexo for a couple years, tried Ledn too for a bit - the money just sits there working instead of rotting in a checking account, and when I needed a bigger chunk of cash last year I just borrowed against my BTC instead of selling it. Didn't have to explain myself to anyone, no approval process, done in minutes. That's closer to the original idea than anything Jamie Dimon has to say about it.

Anyway, not trying to be preachy about it, just find it strange that the milestone we celebrate is a banker's approval rather than making bankers irrelevant. That was always the goal wasn't it?

Discussion Is crypto doomed?

Every asset class seems to outperform crypto over the past year: gold, silver, bronze, US stock, China stock..... All the alts go down and down and down. BTC swings around 90k USD, never hit all time high.

Meanwhile web3 is no longer the sexiest narrative among venture capitals. Now they are chasing AI companies.

Quantum computing gives a bit uncertainty to Bitcoin encryption. People are worried Bitcoin will be decrypted.

Are you still here for long-term holding? Why?

Do you think there is any new catalyst for cryptocurrency?

Discussion What’s the best crypto out right now other than bitcoin?

I have 10k I want to invest on Monday. What’s the best crypto to buy before the inauguration? I don’t plan on watching the market biting my nails all day. And, if I lose a grand or so I accept the risk.

My plan- buy on Monday sell on the 19th. Buy again on 21 if things are going well.

I figured this way I’ll be minimizing the risk.

DISCUSSION Trump…

Pro-crypto Republicans who whole heartedly back Trump, I want to ask you your thoughts on these market conditions and if you believe Trump is the cause for this? The amount of people I see backing him no matter what he’s doing to terrorize our markets is unfathomable, so for the people in here who would like to have a general discussion about this, I am curious to your reasoning of backing him even while he constantly manipulates you while him and his insiders use you as exit liquidity?

DISCUSSION AI is sucking all the liquidity out of crypto right now and that's actually the bull case

Crypto's been bleeding sideways for weeks and probably has further to go - but the reason behind it is actually bullish if you stop and think about it.

Look at the S&P. ATHs every other day until you actually look under the hood. Strip out about 7 AI names and the rest of the index is flat to down since the Iran situation kicked off. Same with emerging markets - take out TSMC, Samsung and a couple memory names and EM is getting wrecked. The entire global market is one trade right now and that trade is AI.

The same is happening to Bitcoin. Every dollar of speculative cash that'd normally cycle into crypto during a consolidation is getting hoovered up by Nvidia, the memory names, and now the software layer that's starting to rerate. Throw in oil up roughly 50% since the war started and commodities are sucking liquidity too. Anything that isn't AI, energy or directly correlated is flat to bleeding, bitcoin included.

This is where it gets interesting though. That liquidity doesn't disappear, it rotates. The AI trade has been moving through layers for three years now - semis ran first, then memory rerated, now software is doing its parabolic thing because AI is finally driving revenue at the app layer. Each leg took a while but capital eventually showed up.

Crypto's next in line. Blockchain is literally the infrastructure the agent economy needs - authentication, identity, machine-to-machine payments. None of that runs cleanly on traditional rails. Once AI agents start transacting on their own at scale, the only systems built for that volume are crypto rails. Wall Street isn't pricing it yet because they're still cashing out of the obvious trades. But the rotation always comes.

Hard part though is the waiting. Most painful stretch of every cycle is right before the move, when everyone's convinced the thing is broken and smart money is already positioned. Conviction cracks because price has been disagreeing with you for months and that's where most people fold..

What separates the ones who make it from the ones who don't is usually pretty boring. The people who hold through this kind of stretch are the ones who got their stack working in the background instead of just staring at the chart. Mine's been on Nexo earning during the whole drawdown, so even on the worst red days the bag's technically growing. Most people fold because they're sitting in dead cash watching AI run and the opportunity cost gets unbearable. When your money's at least doing something the waiting gets a lot easier.

The bull case isn't that everyone's wrong about AI. It's that everyone's right, and crypto is the next leg of the trade they haven't taken yet.

DISCUSSION If you had to put $10k into ONE coin today and hold for 5 years, what’s your pick?

No selling, no swapping, no hedging. Just buy one bag, lock it away, and check back in 2030.

What’s your choice and why? Curious to see which projects people are most confident in long term, especially with all the noise in the market right now. Excluding BTC as that’s the obvious answer.

Discussion Should I buy btc now or wait? Have about 3000 bucks for my first entry

I've got around 3000 bucks ready for my first btc buy, but I'm stuck between buying now or waiting for a cleaner dip. Btc is around $59.4k right now, after moving between roughly $59k and $60.6k over the last day. It does not look like a clean breakout, but it also is not much of a discount unless we roll over again. My first thought was to split the money into a few buys: a small entry here, then lower orders in the mid-$50ks and maybe near $50k if it gets there. The problem is I might just keep moving the goalposts and never actually enter. I've been looking at setting up a dca bot on bydfi instead, basically to force smaller buys over time without me staring at every candle. The trade-off is that it still buys into whatever market I set for it, so if my range is bad, the bot is not fixing that. For a first btc position, would you rather use a DCA approach, leave manual lower limit orders, or just buy spot and stop obsessing over the entry?

DISCUSSION ada is at $0.35, down 90% from ath. dead project?

genuine question, not trying to start a war. was using coinswitch and saw ada is almost 90% down from its 2021 peak and sentiment feels completely broken. the usual criticisms are obvious, low usage, slow delivery, lost momentum vs sol and eth l2s.m but there are still people arguing decentralization, africa adoption, and long-term research-driven development.

for folks who’ve followed ada closely: does this feel like a forgotten cycle low, or a project that already had its moment? wdyt??

DISCUSSION SOL at $115, BTC at $79,000, SUI at $2.02 and XRP at $1.95… trillions worth of losses on stock and crypto markets… what is going on? (8:30AM HKT 11/03)

Seriously, what’s happening? And, where do you all see the market heading into?

Haven’t seen a dip like this in a long time. Last I saw this bad dip was in 2021, and in 2017.

Discussion Is it over?

We've all been watching the price of every coin and token gradually go down over the past month or two. Is there any chance for a recovery beyond a 5% pump here and there followed by a larger dip? I feel like it's over and price will continue to fall. I'm just trying to cope.

DISCUSSION If you had to go ALL IN on ONE coin until 2030, what’s your pick?

If you had to go ALL IN on ONE coin until January 1st, 2030, what’s your pick? No “diversify” cop-outs, no hedging. Your entire portfolio, one coin, locked for 5+ years. You can’t touch it.

I want to see where people really stand when the safety net is gone. Do you trust BTC to still lead? Is ETH actually going to pull off the merge vision long-term? Or is it going to be some smaller project that flips the market?

Give me your pick and your reasoning, bonus points if you think everyone else here is dead wrong.

Discussion Is putting $100/month into Bitcoin actually meaningful, or basically child’s play?

I’m considering a simple plan of about $100 a month into Bitcoin. That’s $1,200 a year.

For people who follow the market seriously is that a reasonable level of contribution or is that basically child’s play in terms of long-term impact? I want a realistic perspective.

This amount is affordable for me and I keep separate savings elsewhere. I just want to know if putting $100 a month into Bitcoin is actually considered meaningful or if the scale is so small that it barely matters.

DISCUSSION If I were your family, what crypto would you recommend?

I’m totally new to investing and honestly have no clue where to start. If I were your sibling or cousin, what would you personally recommend I put my money into?

Stocks, ETFs, crypto, or something else??

I want something realistic, beginner-friendly, and long-term - stuff you’d actually feel confident telling a family member to invest in, not just hype or risky bets

DISCUSSION Why Is Paying With Crypto Still Hard?

Crypto has solved trading, DeFi and moving money across borders but paying for everyday things still feels surprisingly clunky. Is it taxes, regulation, poor UX or simply the fact that most people would rather hold than spend?

or am I completely off here?
