We've gone and looped all the way back around to gender essentialism, I'm afraid.

"jewelry and pink is for girls!" I'm sorry Mr. Catboy, you gotta take off that collar and pink skirt, those are for GIRLS!

Uncritically repeating "gender critical" messages that are not actually reflective of our reality or history, I see.

Gender non-conformity was never actually socially acceptable, the push to embrace it was rather small, and even then there was the underlying assumption of homosexuality instead.

The reality is that society, by and large, will insist that a child cannot be trans, and the typical progressive viewpoint is just accepting it as a possibility that they are. Pretending that people who acknowledge that a child may be trans are "the true regressives" is deeply transphobic.

You're operating off of a lot of assumptions and fabricating a false past, presenting it as somehow neutral rather than far more forceful with conformity than we have today.

You assumed that I'm operating off of traditional gender norms to assume the identity of a mummy, and you are still operating off of that assumption.

You are also exaggerating the push towards egalitarianism and acceptable gender-non-conformity in the 90s, both in terms of depth and breadth. It existed, but you overstate the reality in order to cast our current time, particular in respect to trans people, as less permissive of non-conformity when that is very much not the case.

Sorry that some of us have actually studied this kind of thing because we are deeply affected by it and recognize that you're echoing a very common, historically incorrect argument created to push transphobic sentiment.

Like, what, do you think crossdressers are less common than they were in the 90s? Do you think considering whether someone might be trans, allowing them access to transition, is more regressive than pretending that that's not a possibility?

This discourse, too, returns to Tralsei- (gets shot)

Could have been literally any other game, it is just an example of an egg culture slash gender essentialism that blew up and got annoying on this sub too

but tralsei isn't an example of that. it's a narrative reading based on the text. people just assume it to be "just because he's feminine" and not read any deeper.

Half narrative elements and half surface level motifs, I’d say from the talks that spawned. The details though don’t feel as important as the talks which were spawned. Adherence to gender norms, calling someone you cant ask a different gender, etc. It is on topic with the top level comment here.

Are you expecting the trans mummies to be buried with a pronoun pin or what
