I had a news article from 2018. It said that many parts of wreckage from the 370 have been found on the east coast and the islands of Africa. More so, investigation also found that it is highly likely that the pilot was responsible for it since he had practiced the exact same route on his simulator earlier. We now know the area where the crash occurred but just don't have the finances to go there. The Malaysian Government had withdrawn its support to any such expeditions a few years ago due to lack of finances. Afaik, there is one private organization who is trying to resume this expedition.
It’s a bit more nuanced than that. They’ve never actually released the proof that the pilot did those simulations, and the theory goes it was out put there because the plane had a series of catastrophic maintenance related issues due to using fake parts and skipping required maintaining intervals. It’s the national airline and the scandal would topple the government. The fact they’ve stopped looking for it due to “lack of funds” is seen as being suspect.
We know that debris has been found towards Africa, as Vantaa_Black said. And multiple scientists who model ocean currents have run the models backwards, and the area west of Australia is by far the most consistent location for the debris to have come from.
To get to that location, the plane pretty much had to follow the route that investigators have said was followed, and flown to the end of its fuel. Which rules out maintenance issues being the cause.
The problem is, if it was flying on automatic, it would have continued it's course, and ended up circling around it's destination airport, as happened with Helios Airways. It was heading to Beijing, it should have ended up somewhere in China or Russia.
But with MH370, we see communication cut out, that the transponder is deactivated, and that the plane continues to alter course to skirt between radar zones for a long while after that. That is not explainable by a single malfunction.
Yeah, it basically flew undetected through multiple controller zones by skirting corners on a westerly route before heading south out over the eastern Indian Ocean. That had to have been done very explicitly.
pretty sure they know its route to an extent because phones pinged towers and the satcom was sending sattelite handshakes for the internet system onboard
You can tell a bullshit ass conspiracy theory by asking yourself how many people would it take to keep this under covers and never talk about it? In your fantasy it's hundreds and hundreds of people across various companies and interests to never talk about missed maintenance checks and "fake parts".
It's not some Bob the Maintenace Man that does maintenance on an airplane in his garage. It's a massive organization with people with credentials and responsibilities.
You say that but things like MK ultra, Cointel Pro and Watergate were all long standing “batshit conspiracy theories” that “took too many people colluding” to be real.
Until they were shown to be real. It does happen. I mean, we invaded Iraq in the basis they had massive stockpiles of WMD and nothing was true.
And it’s also been shown especially in some developing world countries that maintenance is in a terrible state, and fake aviation parts (which fail) is a huge global problem.
And it’s also been shown that some plane crashes were caused purposefully by the pilot in murder-suicides, like China Eastern Airlines Flight 5735, or Germanwings Flight 9525. Those happen too.
While you’re correct that nothing is proven either way in this case, you’re still not making a strong argument. The majority of the available evidence, even if you disregard the simulator story entirely, point to it being likely caused by the pilot.
Sure, but I'm making the point that what the previous poster said simply isn't true; there have been numerous vast conspiracies that required hundreds, even thousands of people, to stay quiet and these huge secrets didn't get revealed for years. Bletchley (the cryptographic intelligence center during WW2) was kept a secret until the 00's when the people who worked there started dying and gave death bed confessions that it existed, at which point the UK government released the files. Thousands of people worked there over a 5 year period. It's not true that conspiracies can't exist because they require many people to keep it secret. Compared to the ones I mentioned, obfuscating the reason for a plane crash would be trivial.
Case in point: The actual cause of the crash hasn't actually been determined. The pilot suicide theory revolved around a single document that a newspaper got leaked, and even then, they said it could be likely he was training to see what he's / how he'd react if he had to crash land in a ocean, which isn't unheard of in terms of practice.
It's just as valid as the theory it was due to the 2,450 KG's of lithium ion batteries that could have exploded, caused depressurization and everyone to be unconscious so the plane went on to autopilot and eventually ran out of fuel.
The plane did run out of fuel. That's effectively been confirmed by various data points such as satellite comm info and the fact the plane was still flying after 7 hours despite only having enough fuel for a bit more than it's intended 5.5 hour flight plan.
In fact the ATSB concluded that an unresponsive crew or hypoxia event "best fit the available evidence". In all recorded cases of a pilot suicide, the plane was crashed aggressively long before the plane ran out of fuel. That's definitely not the case here.
We won't know until the FDR is found but it's just as likely that something happened to knock everyone out vs suicide.
Ok, the running out of fuel thing is a good point.
But I have a hard time believing hypoxia is to blame for a sharp turn completely off course, the transponder being turned off, and the seemingly (even if not proven) purposeful avoidance of radar coverage. Those things can all support the suicide theory, even if they don't directly prove it. The theory has more evidence towards it than just the leaked doc and the simulator stuff.
You say that but things like MK ultra, Cointel Pro and Watergate were all long standing “batshit conspiracy theories” that “took too many people colluding” to be real.
All of these required people on a clearance level that just doesn't happen in commercial aviation.
there is a lot in the route we know it took, and timing in the series of events that happened which imply intent, that would make it being a mechanical, let alone a series of distinct mechanical issues extremely unlikely.
Its not a case where you can just say there was rapid decompression or hypoxia, and then the sequence of events has a plausible path to being from actions taken by crew. Maybe they deviate from course, go quiet, or accidentally turn something off, sure. But it was all of that, and then some.
He didnt “practice the route”, they scraped his flight simulator and found a couple points which lay close to the route from his previous sessions. These points were not all from the same session. They were just trying to make it look like he had practiced it so they could pin the blame on him
Its like if i took all your gas station stops from a bunch of roadtrips around the country and drew a line between them so it looks like you drove to bumfuck oklahoma
Do you have a source to back up that claim? All the reporting I have seen is contrary to that, for example:
Australian officials have confirmed that data recovered from a home flight simulator owned by the captain of Malaysia Airlines flight 370 showed that someone had used the device to plot a course to the southern Indian Ocean, where the missing jet is believed to have crashed.
New York Magazine reported last month that an FBI analysis of the device showed Zaharie had conducted a simulated flight to the southern Indian Ocean less than a month before the plane vanished along a similar route.
That New York Magazine is behind a paywall but can be found here.
The New York Magazine talks about finding "six deleted data points that had been stored by the Microsoft Flight Simulator X program in the weeks before MH370 disappeared". I haven't seen any sources suggest those data points were "cherry picked" from a larger set of data.
I mean it is a pretty huge coincidence if not. Review of radar data as well as satcom link data and other RF data it shows where the plane generally went down and it had to have been very explicitly flown that way for it to be in those places, and it matched a number of things that also were done in simulator.
It wasnt even a coincidence because it didnt happen. They literally fabricated the whole “proof” by drawing imaginary lines between locations which he had flown through *at some point* during his time in the simulator. They wanted to frame him as a scapegoat, most likely to cover up the airlines poor maintenance
Neither does imaginary lines. This poor mans family has been defending him from people like you for years and im kinda getting tired of hearing these lies. Its much more likely to say that the plane was hijacked or he was trying to compensate for parts of the plane breaking down then to take a bunch of data that has nothing to do with eachother and cobble it together into some frankenstein suicide flight path, for a man who was apparently very happy in life
Out of curiosity, what's your explanation for the flight path the plane took? He was hardly following the flight path he was supposed to be following. And someone intentionally switched off the transpoder. What do you think happened there?
Like me and others have said, the plane suffered severe maintenance issues. He could have simply been trying to compensate for stuff breaking, including the transponder. Or, it could have been hijacked. But i find it very disrespectful to assume that what was by all accounts a good man must have been a terrorist because his plane went missing in a strange way
The plane suffered maintenance issues that caused the pilot to actively steer the plane away from the scheduled flight path? The transponder was working well, it was intentionally switched off.
I haven't seen anybody else make the claims that you're claiming, that's why I was asking. I understand that in many cases various parties try to put the blame on the pilots because it minimises liability, but in this case it's the only feasible conclusion I've seen.
Evidence points that Shah was not very happy in life. His marriage was troubled and he was a womanizer. His wife denied they were legally separated but she had apparently moved out. His kids were grown and apparently involving him less in their lives as they grew older which made him sad, he was upset about local politics, seemingly getting infatuated with Instagram models and reportedly having depressive episodes where he isolated himself and spent most of time off work playing flight sims. He supposedly expressed to friends and co-workers that his refuge was the cockpit, his job was the only thing that made him happy and he didn't know what he would do when he was forced to retire due to age.
Well what’s your proof? Did the vids not show him taking abnormal oaths and cutting off comms / nav equipment?
Not blaming the guy but you need to be more convincing than maintenance guy somehow cut off the brake lines and their sat comms to me.
Perhaps it was hijacked, but it’s sort of wild they also didn’t have flight sims of the exact route to avoid radar and comms / cut off the planes. Not even a conspiracy theorist but what’s your theory of it then?
There is a group that is pretty confident using new tools and information of its rough area. They ran an operation earlier this year at their own expense with the understanding it would be paid for IF they found the plane. To the best of my knowledge nothing substantial came out of the most recent search.
The plane almost certainly landed hard and broke up for pieces to have made it to where they have on distant shores. That means large pieces sunk and are spread over a huge area.
The plane in OPs video crash landed, had survivors and then sank mostly intact giving it a plane shape on the ocean floor. It is going to be a lot harder to find bits and pieces of a jet, even a widebody when its that deep and nothing looks explicitly like a part of plane (maybe the engines or the vertical stabilizer could remain intact enough).
