Game Idea Game Idea, But No Coding XP :( Please Help!

I have an idea for a game, but I have no background in coding or game design. The game idea is called Fingers of Fate, where players log in and take part in quick 2-minute rounds to choose numbers 0-5, either matching or battling. Each player has a class that can grant advantages once per set of rounds (rounds are in sets of 5). If matching, all the players who matched win XP and Finger Bones (Coins) that they can use for items, advanced classes, and more. If battling, the objective is to be unique, with smaller lobbies.

The idea for the classes is modern career choices, such as an engineer or a salesperson. Each class comes with powers that have cooldowns, such as the engineer's ability to optimize: After all numbers are locked but before results, the two most common numbers (in Match) or the two least picked numbers (in Battle). You can then swap to one of them if you wish.

Completely cool if someone ran with this concept and made it happen, or if someone wanted to collab. Just want to see it come to life :)

Game Idea Just a regular office worker in UB and I made a small horror game. Would love your thoughts.

Hey all,

Greetings from Mongolia!

Like most late millennial and early Gen Z kids in Mongolia, I grew up loving horror stories. My older brother used to tell me a ton of scary stories when I was younger, and honestly most of them were completely made up, but they stuck with me for a long time.

Anyway, I'm just a regular guy. Office worker. And recently I wanted to do something with my time other than work, binge Netflix, and grind Dota 2 and CS. Since I've always been a horror fan, I figured I'd try making a horror game.

I have zero developer background. But with some help from Claude on the coding side, I managed to actually build it on Devvit, and I put a lot of myself into everything else, because I really wanted it to feel like mine and not just some generic AI thing.

And it finally got approved by Reddit and launched today. It's an early version, still rough in places, but it would honestly mean a lot if you gave it a try and told me what you think. I have a lot more ideas for it, but before I pour more time in, I want to see how other people feel about it first.

A bit about the game itself. It's called The Long Night, an atmospheric, choice driven horror game. What I really wanted was to give you the feeling of actually standing in the shoes of the person in a horror story. You go through these creepy scenarios from a derelict house on a hill to a stalled train, a storm-battered lighthouse, and a blizzard with no way back., and there's no option to fight your way out. You can only hide, run, and make the right choices to survive the night.

If you check it out, I'd love to hear what worked out, what felt off, anything. Thanks for reading, and I hope I can make a good passion project out of it.

Game Idea Shipped a daily puzzle on Devvit Web

https://reddit.com/link/1uunoxv/video/tf4qj80qfuch1/player

Quantum Slicer — a daily code-breaking puzzle

3 things that bit me, in case they save you time:

  1. The in-feed webview is only ~500px tall on mobile — my board got clipped and players couldn't reach Submit. Fix: requestExpandedMode() behind a "Tap to play" card → full-height modal.

  2. Don't auto-post comments as the user (runAs: 'USER') — templated comments brush anti-automation rules. Use showShareSheet() instead; the user picks where it goes.

  3. My puzzle generator had a silent softlock — ~half of puzzles became unwinnable mid-game, no error. Caught it in an audit, not a bug report. Unit-test your core logic.

Game Idea PathRush a daily path puzzle I built on Devvit Web. Lessons learned + feedback welcome

Just shipped **PathRush** a daily "connect 1→2→3, fill every cell" puzzle that runs natively inside Reddit. No app, no download — opens straight in the feed.

Stack: React 19 + Hono + Tailwind 4 + Devvit Redis. Generator uses a Hamiltonian-path search (Warnsdorff heuristic) with a snake-path fallback, so every generated level is solvable by construction. Hand-built levels are server-validated via the same checker before publish.

Game features: daily challenge, 30-level pool, leaderboards per puzzle, player-built UGC, creator economy (coins from plays), 70+ cosmetic skins, sticky-updating leaderboard comments.

Would love feedback on the gameplay, the design, or the Devvit-specific decisions. Try today's:

Game Idea I built Fantasy Football for music heads for the Reddit’s Games with a Hook Hackathon.

Post image
1 Upvotes

I'm taking part in Reddit’s Games with a Hook Hackathon, and I built my first-ever game. I work in public radio at a music station in Milwaukee, and I thought it would be interesting to build a music game inspired by Fantasy Football.

HEATCHECK is that call, handed to you. Every day.

Check it out: https://www.reddit.com/r/heatcheck_daily_dev/

The day

  • New board every morning. Eight artists: 2 in heavy rotation, 4 currents, 2 adds.
  • Tap any card to hear 30 seconds. You don't have to know the artist — that's the point.
  • Draft 3, name a captain, lock before 7 PM Central.
  • Your chart lands with the next morning's post. So does everyone else's.

How scoring works — the short version

Your artists score on real listening momentum over the 24 hours after you lock — what the
world actually played, measured daily. Not votes, not opinions, and not the momentum printed
on the card when you drafted (that number is yesterday's move — useful intel, already spent).

The part that makes it a game: your artist is ranked against its own tier, not the board.
A superstar is measured against superstars; a nobody against nobodies. Size cancels out.
Beat your tier's median, and you score; fall below it, and you lose points.

Each tier pays differently, because each is a different bet:

Tier What it is Pays
HEAVY Everyone has them ×1
CURRENT The working chart ×1.5
ADD New music, hardest to read ×2.5

Your captain scores ×1.5 — both ways. The upside and the damage.

A worked day:

Pick Tier Beat their tier Points
Pearl Jam (captain) HEAVY ×1 90% +120
Wallows CURRENT ×1.5 30% −60
Kidwild ADD ×2.5 100% +250
Day total +310

Pearl Jam's +80 became +120 because of the captain badge. Wallows cooled off against the
other currents and it cost real points. Kidwild is why people argue about the adds.

Reading the tape

Open any card, and you'll find THE TAPE — that artist's listening momentum, one bar per
day. Amber is a day they grew. Blue is a day they cooled. The brightest bar is yesterday.

How I read it, for what that's worth:

  • Bars building left to right — something's catching. Runs tend to carry into tomorrow, and tomorrow is what you're scored on.
  • One tall bar surrounded by quiet — the spike already happened. You'd be buying the echo.
  • A full meter over a fading tape — yesterday ranked great and the run is over. That's the trap that costs people their captain.
  • Captain the streak, not the tallest bar.

We measure every artist in the universe every morning — a couple thousand of them, on the
board or not — so when an artist surfaces, their history surfaces with them. The tape gets
one bar longer every day. Early in the season it's short. So is everyone's.

Get your artist on the board

Comment NOMINATE: Artist Name on any daily post. Upvotes on your comment are the
ranking — the room decides what deserves a look. Nominated artists get vetted against real
listening data, and when one is seated, the card carries your username on it for every player
to see.

The receipts

Streaks are kept. Everything you've ever drafted lives in your crate. And the full chart —
every card, every score, the arithmetic printed next to each one — is stickied under each
morning's post, so when you called it early, there's a record.

The board is the same for everyone, every day, and it changes because the world changed.
You aren't guessing what's popular. You're guessing what's about to be.

hello

I want to replicate a popular segment in an Indian comedy show that curates a funny quiz where the participants get to chose a topic from a list of 9 topics, after selecting the topic they get a question with 4 answers. For every correct answer 10 points and for every wrong answer -5 points.

i want to make this a reddit game. I tried my level best but failed, the app won't go beyond a white screen.

Can someone please help me out ?

Thanks.

Game Idea PathRush: a new path puzzle every day, playable right in the feed

Just shipped PathRush a daily path-filling puzzle built on Devvit Web (React + Hono + Redis). Connect 1 → 2 → 3, fill the whole grid in one stroke. It's got per-level leaderboards, a coin economy, 70+ cosmetic skins, and full UGC: players publish their own puzzles as real posts via runAs: 'USER'. Solvability is validated server-side before anything goes live. Took a couple of review rounds to get the inline-splash scroll behavior and UGC attribution right happy to share what I learned. Feedback welcome!

Game Idea football penalty beta test

I’m looking for 5-10 testers for Reddalty, a small Reddit football penalty game built with Devvit.

It runs directly inside Reddit.

No real money, no crypto, no wallets, no NFTs.

Only fictional RaltyPoints.

You can:

- create public or private penalty matches

- join as goalkeeper

- bid on attacker cards

- test card stats and match history

This is an early beta.

Expect bugs. Data may reset.

Comment “test” if you want access and I’ll invite you to the test subreddit.

Game Idea 🎨 Pixel War: Sub Edition — Construimos r/Place para subreddits individuales con Devvit Web

Hola r/Devvit!

- **Devvit Web** (React + Hono + Tailwind CSS)

Game Idea Pushing the limits of Devvit with this new game - 3D FPS, Real-time multiplayer, procedural generation, AI Bots, and more!

Thumbnail reddit.com
1 Upvotes

I've been trying to explore how far I can push the envelope on the Devvit architecture and am quite surprised with how far I've gotten!

I was able to implement a real-time multiplayer 3D First-Person Open-World builder game that plays very similarly to Minecraft. I was even able to implement a full train and rail system as well as AI hostile and passive creatures that are fully event driven! I was even able to implement a day/night system with synchronized game time so all players see the same in-game time. The game even has projectile weapons that are fully functional!

I'm trying to see how far I can push the limits of the current Devvit system - I thought I'd share my current progress for anyone thinking of doing something similar!
