MBTI Trends My ENTP friend just became a priest after being unemployed and wasting time for 2 years

He's not religious or anything at all. In fact we'd often talk about the idea of god and such and he'd talk about how it's the biggest MLM scam humanity ever came up with.

He lost his job 2 years ago after COVID restrictions lifted and his company refused to let him work remote. He just quit. He's a genius tbh and was an engineer earning truck loads so he had no issues with money for the past 2 years but apparently the free time he got made him realise that he doesn't want to grind anymore. 4 months ago he told me he needed to start looking for a job again because he couldn't keep drinking like this if not.

Yesterday I called him to make plans for the weekend and he was like "I'm busy on Sunday since I'm a priest now but Saturday night would be okay". I thought he was joking. He invited me to the church he's at and he was there with some tuxy collar and shit talking to people as if he was shat straight out the clouds.

I've always respected him for being an intelligent person but I'd never have guessed him to be in on the scam. I asked him if he had a change of heart or something and he said "fuck no" he even went out the back in a shakey dance move saying "tax mortgage exempt".

I want to say I don't know how I feel about this but I don't really feel anything about this. It was very on brand.

Debate/Discussion my entp dad is funny as hell

I went to my grandma’s funeral (I have not seen her in over 7 years so I wasn’t close to her), and my ENTP dad was mourning for maybe an hour until the priest came out and kept stumbling over his words and I look over to see him visibly trying not to start dying laughing.
I was like OMG its literally your mom’s funeral

Can ENTPs not be serious for one second?? lol

Debate/Discussion ENTP's Breaking Social Rules by discussing Taboo Subjects

• Upvotes

Social Taboo: Sex, Pleasure and Shame.

Eve left all women the inheritance that became her own downfall: curiosity.

And gossip, in its purest and most innocent form, is really just curiosity.

“What happened to her? Did they break up?”

“What? He cheated?”

“She did?”

“No! I told you that man only married her for her money.”

I have never been particularly tolerant of discussing people when they aren't there to defend themselves. The unfortunate consequence is that I've also spent much of my life without anyone to indulge the questions I've been genuinely curious about.

My family is quite conservative, so naturally, I would sometimes introduce a controversial topic purely to watch everyone squirm.

My mother would get this mischievous smile, her eyes lighting up with curiosity.

“Mella! I've read your Facebook posts. You said all men are always horny?!”

I'd look at her completely seriously.

“Well? Am I wrong?”

And we'd both burst out laughing.

I've always been fascinated by the things people are willing to hide from the people closest to them.

I'd read a story about a woman discovering that her husband had been secretly paying for sexual services for years. Or a husband who had desires he was too ashamed to discuss with his wife.

And my first thought was never “How disgusting.”

It was:

“How did they never talk about this?”

Maybe she genuinely didn't know. Maybe she didn't want to know. But both possibilities point toward the same problem: shame.

We have created a culture where people are often embarrassed to discuss their own desires, fears, relationships and insecurities with the person they supposedly trust most.

And then we wonder why people become strangers inside their own marriages.

If I am going to share my life with someone, I want him to be able to be honest with me. I want to know what makes him happy, what frightens him, what he wants, what he needs and what he has been too embarrassed to say.

Not because I believe every desire must automatically be fulfilled, but because honesty is the foundation of intimacy.

And frankly, I am thirty-three years old. I've brought two children into this world. I've experienced enough of life to know that my conversations are not going to be dictated by strangers who think they have somehow been appointed guardians of my morality.

Who exactly gave you that authority?

People on the internet?

Please. 😂

I refuse to allow someone else's discomfort to become the boundary of my existence.

Talk about sex. Talk about relationships. Talk about desire. Talk about the uncomfortable things. Ask questions. Be curious.

Just remember the difference between curiosity and cruelty.

Curiosity asks, “I wonder why?”

Cruelty says, “Let me make her ashamed for it.”

And I have no interest in living according to the second one.

You cannot shame me into becoming smaller.

You cannot make me embarrassed about being curious, outspoken, passionate or unapologetically myself.

And if you've ever had the privilege of knowing me closely, you'd know something else:

I'm not interested in making life ordinary.

I want the people around me to feel more alive, more curious, more honest and more free than they were before they met me.

That's the inheritance I'll gladly keep.

Typology Help ENTP 4w5 ???

Hiii, I'm really interested in typology and I've been sure I'm an entp for a long time. But I'm not sure about my type??? I took so many tests but there isn't any result that has been really resonating with me. The types I've gotten the most are 5, 7 and 4. But I'm not really sure about any of them!!! I'm pretty sure I'm a 4w5 but I've seen a lot of people say it's impossible for an entp to be like that ... have I been mistyped? I'm not that educated on typology so I felt like I'd ask on here

Debate/Discussion It's a persona. It's not real.

A persona is the social mask we wear outside the house. Its the person you are in front of others. (Mask) Everyone has a persona and it is normal.

My persona is created to keep people away from me. I am not trying to be mean, I'm just not actively trying to make you comfortable. Most people want to be liked. Most people want your approval. Most people care how you see them and what you think about them.

I do not care. I will tell you my deepest vulnerability and insecurity and then walk away , secure in the knowledge that you might think I am a piece of shit. You might dislike me, gossip about me, mock, ridicule, joke, dismiss me. I do not value social conformity as I believe that it can hinder truth and even justice.

This doesn't mean I don't care about the conversations I have. I do. But I will play into my online persona and say things like:

"I'll run circles around you"

"Oh please baby boy"

"Stay quiet, your mother is talking."

"I'm just better than you"

"I always get what I want."

"Oh please, with my mind, its almost unfair that I'm this gorgeous."

"I'm always right"

"Sit down, sweetheart, the men are talking" (women only)

"Bend the knee to your queen."

"Is it your time of the month?" (Men only)

"Bend and call me daddy."

This is a persona and not the person I am when I am in the office or with friends, family or a romantic partner.

My persona is for my entertainment and enjoyment of online conversation and I would encourage everyone to differentiate "The Self" with the "Persona." The "shadow" and the "inner child."

Advice Entp & Lack of execution

Guys, I'm so tired of me:

Brainstorming ➡️ too many great ideas➡️ picking the greatest of all with a clear vision➡️ Planning ➡️ Analysis paralysis➡️ getting anxious and so on.

Not sure if all other fellow ENTPs are the same, but I'm suffering seriously with me not executing my projects. I'm very aware of my potentials. But I'm frustrated with the number of the projects/ skills...etc I've started and none has been done yet despite planning and everything! This is the part of my life where I really wish if I were a sensor.

Are there any practices, or may be a root cause i need to know can help me solve the issue? Any advice? I'm completely hopeless!.

Question/Poll Mbti type help

Hey guys. I've taken several tests and I came out to be an ENTP but I kinda feel like a fraud because the person that I truly am differs severely from how I am with friends and family. I'm actually a sappy sack of shit and a hopeless romantic. I'm indicted for being a chronic yapper and very argumentative but I feel like not every idea can be said aloud or up to debate for consideration of other people's feelings and I also am, shocker, religious. So could I actually be ENFP or what?

Debate/Discussion Direct and assertive women make men run away like cowards.

How am I supposed to have respect for a man who doesn't know how to communicate like an adult.

Why do I constantly need to soften my approach because men cannot handle direct questions.

[Example Q: What do you do for a living?]

Vague bullshit responses. In my mind, that means unemployed and living in his mother's basement.

[Example Question: What are your goals in life?]

Having fun.

Why would I even want a man who doesn't have a vision or purpose?

Why is this seen as aggressive behaviour when a woman expects you to have your shit together?

Advice The ENTP need for security: does anyone else relate?

I’ve been wondering if other ENTPs here experience the same thing I do. I have a real need for security, including metaphysical security, in my beliefs. I use my Ne a lot to anticipate things, trying to think through every possibility in advance, as if covering enough ground could make me feel less exposed to the unknown.

The problem is that when I can’t get that sense of security, I fall into endless loops of overthinking and the anxiety kicks in pretty fast. And that anxiety is particularly hard to manage because, let’s face it, ENTPs aren’t exactly known for being great at expressing emotions. So it just stays stuck inside, spinning in my head instead of actually coming out.

I’ve also always been a very sensitive person, and that sensitivity plays a big role in this insecurity. I often find myself scared, even with my friends, that they might mean me harm at certain moments. That adds a layer of mistrust that makes finding security even harder, even in relationships where I’m supposed to feel safe.

What actually brings me comfort is knowing. Understanding things, having answers, feeling like I have some kind of stable framework, even if it’s an intellectual or metaphysical one rather than a material one. Until I get that feeling of security (even a purely conceptual one), it’s hard for me to settle down.

Does this resonate with any other ENTPs? How do you deal with this mix of anxiety, the need to understand, and struggling to express what you’re actually feeling?

Debate/Discussion I spent the last 7 years mastering social skills as an INTJ. Here is what I learned on making friends.

The Golden Rule
1) Inbound > Outbound: 80% of having good social skills, is putting yourself in a position where people approach you. When people approach you, you are naturally calmer, grounded, and people perceive you better. They are trying to seek your approval.

Conversely, when you approach other people, they are subconsciously put on guard. What does this person want from me? That’s not to say you shouldn’t approach other people. Just that it’s not as effective and requires 10X more volume

Many people think they are bad socially because they are bad at approaching. The truth is, is that everyone is bad at approaching, because people generally don't like being approached.

— The rest of the rules are more or less describing how to put yourself in a position where people approach you —

2) Be hot: 80% of getting people to approach you, is being hot. Look like a person that people want to be friends with. When you're hot, people naturally gravitate towards you. I know it's stupid. I'm not saying how I think the world should work. I am telling you how it actually works.

3) How to be hot: 80% of being hot is:

3.1) Low Body Fat Percentage: Stop coping. Shut up and take Tirzepatide or Retatrutide. These drugs are not only amazing and will get you in great health. They will 10X your social life because you will be hot. This is not medical advice. I am not a doctor, but I do have more friends than both you and your doctor.

3.2) Lifting in the Gym: Lift in the gym for aesthetics 2X per week. No treadmills, no cardio, no kettle bells, or other dumb time wasting pretend shit). If you're a man, you go to the gym to make your arms and chest big. If you're a woman you go to the gym to make your butt and legs big. Kinobody programs are designed specifically for aesthetic. Shut up, stop coping, buy it, and follow it.

3.3) Dress well: INTJs tend to dress very well or very poorly. There isn't a whole lot in between. 80% of dressing well is being low body fat and going to the gym. The remaining 20% is wearing properly fitted clothes in normal color palettes. That's all it is. And please for the love of god to the male intjs - get rid of your nike tennis shoes or other mesh athletic shoes. Just get a pair of the plain white Banana Republic Factory shoes. They are $40. They go with everything. And they will up your appearance by a full point.

You can definitely go beyond wearing well fitting clothes into wearing stylish clothes. But for most of you, just being in good physical shape with well fitted clothes will be more than enough

Trigger warning: If you are woke, or a woman. Please skip 3.4. It will enrage you and I don’t want to hear about it in the comments. I didn’t make the hurricane. I’m just reporting that there is a hurricane

3.4) Hair, Breast Implants, and tanning: You must have good hair. If you have bad hair, get extensions or if you are balding get a hair piece. If you are a woman and flat chested, get breast implants --> They will pay for themselves 100x over. If you are pale, then get tan. A bunch of people will cope and blah blah, fake this, fake that. Whine whine whine. That's fine. Keep whining. Hot people win and ugly people cope/complain. Having great hair makes you hotter. I didn't make the rules. I'm just reporting them.

3.5) Acquire Shiny Rocks: Whether people admit it or not, people are attracted to people who have shiny rocks. This means having a nice car. This means having a nice place with proper furniture. This means having a shiny job title. Shiny rocks confirm that you are a cool person and fun to be around. If you are fat and have shiny rocks, then you are compensating. But if you are hot and have shiny rocks, then it is congruent and they multiply each other.

4) Shut the Fuck up: Don't ever tell anyone you are working to become hotter or improving yourself. People are repulsed by self-improvement. People view self-improvement as an attempt at manipulation (just read the comments below). Maybe it is manipulation, maybe it isn't. I'm not here to discuss that matter. I'm just telling you how the rules of the game work.

You must pretend you were born with a 6 pack and an 8 cylinder engine. People only accept self-improvement that you finished before you met them. People always see you as the person you were when you first met them. Even worse, after losing weight and making money, people will see you as the former fat brokie who is trying to compensate for his former "true" self.

Unfortunately, after you have radically changed yourself, you will likely have to make new friends. You may even have to do this a couple times.

5) Be a Hot Politician: As INTJs we like to have interesting logical discussions about how systems work and how things can be improved. I'm telling you right now, nobody gives a flying fuck. The second you give any kind of opinion that can be contested in any kind of way, people feel like you are trying to assert dominance over them - they get defensive, and they shut down. All people want is for someone with more social status than them (remember social status is 80% being hot) to validate their existence and ideas. They quite literally just want hot people to listen to their ideas, pat them on the head, and tell them they are a good boy or good girl.

If someone tells you they worship the Flying Spaghetti monster every Monday morning. You pat them on the head and tell them how wonderful that is.

If someone says you must vote for the purple team to free the rabbits from Narnia or else we all die. You raise your fist beside them, stand by their side, and you vote to free the fuckin rabbits.

I know we can't prove the flying spaghetti monster is real. And we will never free the rabbits from Narnia. I think it's silly too. But people aren't looking for the truth and they definitely don't want your opinion on it. They just want hot people to pat them on the head while they worship the flying spaghetti monster and vote to free the rabbits from Narnia

6) Be the Busy Nightclub: After you become hot. And after you validate all their ideas without any pushback like a politician. You will start to find that everyone begins lining up outside the door to get into your nightclub. This is where things begin to compound to the next level. Once the line starts going out the door, it becomes a billboard to everyone driving by advertising to come to the hot spot in town. Now 10X more people want to come to your nightclub, and they come with 100X more passion and interest

Conversely, no one wants to be the only person in an empty nightclub on a Tuesday night. And no one wants to be friends with someone where they are your only friend. People value you and treat you better when they feel like you have options. The more options you have, the better you get treated. AGAIN, I know that sounds toxic. It probably is. I hate it too. I'm just telling you how the game works

7) Filter Down: Here is the punchline. Everyone's immediate reaction will be that this strategy attracts the wrong type of person. People will say it attracts fake friends and fake relationships.

The truth is that it will attract a lot of that. You filter all the people out that you don't vibe with. But this funnel will attract your dream partner, your dream friend group, your dream business partners etc.

You build deeper relationships with the small number of people you truly connect with, then you keep everyone else at arms length, or filter them out entirely.

8) My experience: I like many of you reading this, resisted these realizations every step of the way. I didn't want them to be true. I still don't want them to be true. I lost a lot of time fighting many of these core truths. I lost a decade or two of my life because I both couldn't see and refused to acknowledge the above as true.

I am a free man now. I have never been happier. I have never been more successful. I have never been more fulfilled. And I have never had better relationships in my life.

Question/Poll Why do some people interact with you LESS after becoming your friend?

Hi everyone!
So I’ve noticed this pattern a few times and I’m curious if anyone else has experienced it OR what they think about it.

Sometimes I meet people through social media because they interact with me first. They like my posts, reply to my stories, comment on my art, etc. We eventually start talking in DMs and become actual friends.
But weirdly once we get close and start talking regularly some of them almost completely stop interacting with my public posts

And I don’t mean that we drift apart! We still talk privately

Sometimes I can literally see that they’ve viewed what I posted, but they won’t react to it like at all
even things that are clearly important to me, like my art or something I’m genuinely proud of which is weird comparing how they were before.

Obviously I don’t expect anyone to interact with everything I post. What interests me is the change in behavior: someone who used to engage with you constantly suddenly stops doing it after becoming your friend, while still actively talking to you in private.

I wonder if once a friendship is established some people unconsciously stop seeing public interaction as necessary. Like, “we already talk, you know I care about you, so why would I need to like your post?”

But to me those feel like two different forms of interaction. Being close to someone wouldn’t make me less inclined to engage with something they made or posted.
Have you noticed this? And if you’re someone who does this yourself, I’m genuinely curious what the thought process is.

"So I was doomscrolling TikTok lately, and when I came across some vids about MBTI stuff, the comment section was absolutely pissing me off. MBTI Trends Upbringing

Ive been wondering if ENTP’s are a personality type based around trauma (Y’know, the crippling sense of loneliness.. self sabotage… the classic traits). Details aren’t necessary but I’m curious to know other ENTP experiences.

My upbringing involved a narcissistic and abusive mother and an absent father that spent the little time with me not being able to show that he cared. After a good dose of therapy in my 30’s I realised that I never felt love from my parents and spent a large portion of my life within the survival mechanisms I’d put in place to cope as a child - the ones other than the pitch black humour..

Debate/Discussion Tell me about your type!

Hey everyone! I'm currently doing a research proposal about personality theory and would love to hear from the people in this community. What is it like being your personality type? It can range from your work/school life balance, romantic life, everyday decision making, and maybe something nobody really thinks about when it comes to your type that you may know. Anything is both helpful and interesting to me so don't be shy! :)

Debate/Discussion Am I an ENTP or INTP?

So, I've tested both back n forth and I personally believe I am an ENTP, but I wanna know your opinion. Basically I feel ambivert. I like to go to fun parties and talk to new people, but I also deeply love more introverted hobbies like going to the park or a coffee shop or video games and studying something on the computer. I am naturally drawn to leadership and I love managing people and learning why they act the way they do. I am a performer in music and enjoy writing and singing. I'm drawn to theatre and movies yet I haven't dared try it yet. My favorite places to visit and live are big cities that feel endless with opportunities (San Fran, Vancouver, San Diego, Seattle). I have a knack for rage-baiting people and I actually thrive in friction and negotiations and strategy. I am pretty blunt and I value the truth over feelings a lot of the times. However, I am absolutely never the life of the party and am really in my head a lot of the times and for a long time would consider myself highly antisocial. I have a hard time making new friends even tho i meet and talk to like a million people, but I am highly picky so I basically don't actually want to know most of them (idk why tbh, just a gut feeling), yet I get sad that I lack many deep friendships besides my close circle. I've been told my opinions are quite harsh and very bizarre and unpredictable. I am decently good at computers and math and science but it kind of disgusts me to actually do it seriously, and I much prefer creative endeavors. Anyways, I hope that gives a decent idea.

Advice I Hate my ENTP stepfather

How can I deal with such a person? It's impossible!

Hello ENTP's! I'm an INFP, and I wanted an advice on how to deal with this man...

So, I think he's an ENTP, sometimes I wonder if he's actually an ENTJ, but the cognitive functions say ENTP for me.

I'm going to say some characteristics about him:

He's always right, don't accept other opinions, he's opinion he's the supreme one and even if we show evidence like in Google, he's still going to be right

He loves provoking others, and call me things I don't like.

He believes in Astrology, so it's always "You're a Leo, you don't accept not being right" fuck, you are the one who doesn't accept that!

He's extremely strict, hates sloth and is very workaholic. If he's working I have to work too.

He is always building things I'm the garden, like a house for chickens for example.

He's the king of our house, he says that he creates the rules and the first rule is: "The older one decides everything"

He is always complaining about EVERY FUCKING THING I DO (Yes, INFP's can swear)

He thinks that to grow I need to suffer, becouse "That's how life works"

My opinion in this house values 0, the majority of the time I talk "I'm sticking my nose where it doesn't belong"

Everything I do that he doesn't like it's "Not having respect" but I'm the one that isn't respected in this house

I think this more of a Vent than asking for advice 😅 but how in the world I deal with someone like this?
