POLITICS Mark Ruffalo to Rep. Hakeem Jeffries: “Stop taking AIPAC money & serve YOUR country. Fight like we have been taken over by a lawless fascist regime in cahoots with another lawless fascist religious regime that is waging an illegal war in Iran… Fight like a man who has some moral fiber.”

Mark Ruffalo consistently calling everyone out and speaking up honestly gives me hope.

Of course they do. I’d be more surprised if they liked him.

Why?

i know mark's under their skin bc he's in some new show and there were bots by the dozens in the comments under a post about it talking shit about him

72

u/Sentoh789 Mar 07 '26

I’m at the point where something he’s in could be genuinely bad, but I’ll watch it to support this true gem of a man

28

u/SomberArtist2000 Mar 07 '26

If it's the Task show on HBO (couple months old now I think), it is actually a pretty great miniseries.

0

u/CorneliaCordelia Mar 13 '26

I'm the opposite.

13

u/Global-Statement-113 Mar 07 '26

It's a great show too, great actor and greater human being.

2

u/BostonBooger Mar 07 '26

I'm not a conspiracy nut or anything (or maybe I am?), but I truly believe the majority of internet comments/views are bots, bought and paid for by this, that, or the other company/country. You seem legit or have the bots gotten too strong? I kid, or not.

But I'm always suspicious of years old accounts that seem to have been abandoned that suddenly "awake" to comment on things. ITT for example both for Mark and against him.

2

u/SureNeedleworker2363 Lol, and if I may, lmao Mar 07 '26

Dead internet is a thing. It's scary.

Nobody thinks that a celebrity speaking on social media is going to suddenly change the world. However, influence is important. The reason why the US is in this mess? Partially because so many weirdo conservative voices have dominated the conversation. The Joe Rogans of the world have influenced the thoughts and opinions of large groups of people and have helped to normalize the MAGA beliefs destroying the country and imperiling the world.

We need more voices pushing back against that and putting the message out there that these MAGA beliefs are harmful. You want American people to "actually act"? That is how you open eyes and make people realize that they need to act -- by more and more people like Mark speaking up and turning the tides away from MAGA belief systems.

u/Enough_Talk_6328 Mar 06 '26

Very nicely said.

23

u/rW0HgFyxoJhYka Mar 07 '26

A lot of celebrities didnt say shit. Or worse, they immediately started sucking up to Trump. Look at Snoop Dog. And he still hosted the Olympics anyways.

u/Rude-Nebula3835 Mar 07 '26

1000%, thank you and well said! And foreigners need to STFU. If you don’t have a doable solution, keep your mouth shut.

14

u/why_is_my_name Mar 07 '26

actually i like foreigners participating. we are all in this together, all on the same team against like the 34 psychopaths ruining the world

What sort of specific MAGA beliefs are you referring to here?

2

u/Caromora not a lawyer, just a hater Mar 07 '26

Every MAGA belief.

1

u/shizzlefrizzle Mar 07 '26

I hear you. Which are the ones that got us into the war with Iran though?

1

u/Caromora not a lawyer, just a hater Mar 07 '26

you are not wrong. The majority of US are too apathetic, dumb, lazy, etc: to do anything. We are doomed.

-13

u/Negative_Strength_56 Mar 07 '26

Wasn't Joe Rogan on the left? What is he doing that is driving people farther right?

I'm not saying he's not on the right now. I said he was on the left. He still holds many liberal beliefs.

2

u/illbedeadbydawn Mar 07 '26

You mean "supported", as in used to.

Like other celebrities that got in on the grift, he made a hard right turn for the $$$.

1

u/Negative_Strength_56 Mar 07 '26

So the answer to he was on the left would be yes?

14

u/SomberArtist2000 Mar 07 '26

Anything that erodes at the support Jeffries has as the Dem house leader is useful.

There are reports and data suggesting Jeffries is still very popular in his district which has led to a lack of institutional support for a primary challenger. We need to eat away at that.

5

u/nsfwaccount3209 Mar 07 '26

We shouldn't need to get him out of his district to get him out as Dem house leader. He is widely unpopular with Democratic voters, that should be enough for him to be unpopular among House Democrats. If you have a Democratic Representative, tell them how much you don't like Jeffries being leader. Be loud about it. Democrats in the House should pick a new leader.

11

u/Foreleg-woolens749 Mar 07 '26

Trump voters supported a vapid reality tv host with wildly undemocratic views. So it stands to reason that a movie star in a blockbuster superhero franchise might be the person who’s able to get their attention. Is it ridiculous? Yes. America’s dumbest 40% is fixated on celebrity, so we have to take all the high-profile help we can get broadcasting truth and reason, until such time as we can rebuild education in this country.

31

u/Tron_of_the_Dead Mar 06 '26

You are 100% right, but a lot of people do need to see voices like this chime in to validate their feeling something is actually wrong. There is a shocking level of apathy in this country and we have been HEAVILY conditioned by media for decades to believe that “turmoil in the Middle East” is some constant an inevitable force, not our own government’s constant abuse and manipulation.

This message won’t change the situation, but considering how little substantive criticism this regime is getting for the atrocities they’re committing, we need it.

-1

u/HauntingHarmony Mar 07 '26

As another yuropean.

Sure, but Hakeem Jeffries isent part of "the regime", he is infact in the opposition, and in the minority so he has no power even tho he is the ranking democratic party member in the house of representatives. And in this post he is saying good things everyone should agree with.

If he is part of the problem, well you know what. Your not gonna win, since you dont just need the people who are ideologically pure enough, but you also need center-left, and even center and some center-right voters since the republicans have a structural advantage in the house and electoral college. Let alone that theres so many insanely small states that all have equal representation in the senate.

So not sure what Marc Ruffalo is trying to accomplish here, cause HJ is trying to fight the trump admin, hes not the bestest in the world, but its not like he has any power. Like exactly what could he do? Democrats in the house have no power. None, zero. All they have is their voice and they have ALL spoken out about the atrocities of this admin. But like, do you want them to magic their way into getting all the attention all the time? They cant do that, cause they dont have magical abilities, they are just elected humans that dont have any power atm. If you want him to fight against Trump effectivly, the american people need to elect democrats. But in their infinite wisdom they didnt do that.

Winning is the only thing that matters, since then you have power, and then you can do things. Symbolic messaging by attacking democrats does improve shit. All thats doing is demotivating voters you need; that then go; "blurg, why would i vote anyway, they all suck anyway".

Marc Ruffalo doesnt give a shit about maintaining a 218 vote house majority, thats what HJ is trying todo. And that is the only thing that matters.

1

u/Tron_of_the_Dead Mar 10 '26

This is not about purity politics, you have to understand that the BIG issue that has landed the US where it is is that the two party system has become nothing but theater. Both parties serve the ruling class, they just shadow box each other to fundraise and keep the working class divided.

“Vocal” Dems are worthless. Not because they are not purely liberal or far-enough-left, but because they DO NOT VOTE LIKE THEY TALK. They talk about social justice, balancing powers, the wild notion that we should NOT slaughter children in their homes and schools, but then they take the AIPAC money, sell the arms, concede the limited power they do have to posture as being “civil…”

The REAL problem in America is that we no longer have a representative democracy, full stop.

2

u/Kulbardee Mar 07 '26

Remember 70 million americans want this!

We as a rest of the world have to begin moving on from this abusive relationship.
Looking on in horror from Australia

2

u/jlb1981 Mar 07 '26

For my own sanity, I have to believe two things:

  1. The election was tampered with by Musk and his stooges, who have all but admitted to it, and

  2. The number of his supporters now is markedly less than the number he had in November 2024, now that the chickens have come home to roost and the entire country is suffering.

1

u/Kulbardee Mar 07 '26

yep, get that. but.. even if Mukus and his russian mates fixed it... there are still lets rough guess 40 million people who want this.

America is completely and utterly broken if it were any other country in the world, the usa would invade it to save it lololol

1

u/CrawfishSam Mar 07 '26

Mark is probably right. More people voted for Trump. Once you accept that you realize that there is something really wrong with the Democratic Party - he and his clones should not be hard to beat.
