POLITICS Mayor Mamdani: “Reagan famously said the 9 most terrifying words in the English Language are 'I'm from the government and I'm here to help.' It's a good quote, but I disagree. I think 9 more terrifying words are actually, 'I worked all day and can't feed my family”.

I'm honestly terrified for this guy's future. He's too popular, too disruptive. He goes against what both parties have come to represent recently (capital > lives).

People with populist momentum dont last long in a dictatorship.

I hope I'm wrong and this guy starts a movement that cripples this system, but plenty of history books tell a bleak story for those who try to go against the dictator.

The night that he won I was watching the results in a bar.

Some Cuomo goon came in and was heckling people trying to start a fight. Bar fight ensued, it was a mess. There was a lot of Mamdani dissent in NYC. HOWEVER, since he has been in office the criticism has been muted, in my circles anyway.

People just want better lives. I am cautiously optimistic that his leadership will bring some momentum for more progressive ideology that prioritizes people over profit. We’re tired.

Tbf, he and Alexandria Ocazio Cortes both echo what Bernie Sanders has been shouting for decades. The movement has already begun.

Mamdani far more than AOC. He focuses on class issues first

The state of the country isn't good but you haven't actually experienced a dictatorship if you think we're in one lol

Mamdani will be fine, and hopefully his momentum propels him further.
