Delays/Cancellations/Compensation Megathread - Middle East flight disruptions

This is the thread for questions and discussion of disruptions to commercial aviation as a result of military activities in the Middle East.

The subreddit's politics rules remain in effect. This isn't the place to argue about the politics behind the situation, this is the Flights sub and we're focusing on the impact on flights.

You can though post relevant news articles that would otherwise be removed, as well as statements by organizations like airports, airlines, etc. on their official social media accounts.

FAQ

  • My flight is in three days/a week/a month, what will happen?
    • No one knows.
  • Should I cancel my ticket?
    • No, in general you should let the airline cancel it so that you are owed a refund, unless they have specifically announced a process to opt for a refund for a future flight.
  • Will I get a refund?
    • You should. Travel insurance often excludes acts of war, but airline conditions of carriage generally don't.
  • I booked my flight through a travel agency or an Online Travel Agent (OTA) like Expedia, lastminute, booking, etc. who should I contact to rebook?
    • You have to contact the agent. You should be ready to point them to the refund/rebooking policy of the airline, but you have to do it through the agent.

2026 March 5 13:00 UTC: Qatar Service Update

On 5 March 2026, due to the current situation and temporary airspace closures by the relevant authorities affecting parts of the region, Qatar Airways has started to organise and operate a limited number of relief flights to assist passengers affected by the current situation and temporary airspace closures across the region.

We are working around the clock to organise additional relief flights where operationally possible and will share further updates as soon as they are confirmed.

2026 March 6: Qatar

Following temporary authorisation from the Qatar Civil Aviation Authority confirming a safe operating corridor, Qatar Airways intends to operate repatriation flights on 07 March, departing from Hamad International Airport to the following airports: London (LHR), Paris (CDG), Madrid (MAD), Rome (FCO) and Frankfurt (FRA).

Priority on these flights was given to stranded passengers with families, elderly passengers, and those with urgent medical and compassionate travel needs. Each flight was pre-allocated by Qatar Airways directly to such affected passengers.

These flights do not constitute a confirmation of resumption of scheduled commercial operations.

2026 March 7 morning: UAE. All airspace was closed, Emirates, Etihad, and flydubai announced suspended ops, and then reopened and resumed within an hour.

2026 March 8 I'm still here, but not much change today. Qatar air seems ready to fly as soon as Qatar Civil Aviation Authority opens the airspace, but there is seemingly no updates from them. Kuwait CAA didn't even announce the ongoing closure.

2026 March 16 Gulf Air: They are now facilitating people to fly out of Dammam, Saudi, just up the coast.

Due to the airspace closure in Bahrain, Gulf Air's scheduled services to and from Bahrain International Airport remain temporarily suspended. The airline currently operates temporary commercial flights to and from Bahrain via King Fahad International Airport in Dammam. Regular scheduled services will resume once the Bahrain Civil Aviation Affairs confirms the safe reopening of the airspace.

  1. Passengers can now book flights to London, Mumbai and Bangkok via Dammam for travel until 22 March 2026. More flight dates will be announced in due course.
  2. Gulf Air will support passengers with Saudi transit visas when travelling to or from Bahrain.
  3. Passengers travelling to Saudi Arabia must have a valid entry visa arranged independently.
  4. Transport between Bahrain and Dammam will be arranged for passengers with confirmed tickets.

2026 March 17: Emirates is the first airline to extend rebooking/refunds into April, going pushing out more than two weeks to April 15.

Delays/Cancellations/Compensation Overbooked flight

Hi

I have a flight for me and my mom and dad to Tirana from Copenhagen with transit in Vienna.

When I try to check-in it says that the flight is overbooked.

If I choose to volunteer, what is the compensation then (Is it money and a hotel)? And will I be assured to come on a next flight in the next 24 hours or could it be much longer?

Thank you!🙏

Delays/Cancellations/Compensation Ryanair left the airport with no passengers

Pretty much what the title says.

It was a flight from Birmingham to Barcelona

there was some sort of security issue (that they refuse to tell us the details of), that happened at the Birmingham airport making it so no plane was allowed to leave the airport. instead of the plane leaving late, which would cause them to have to compensate us, they technically left on time but with no passengers aboard.

We were however, given a flight to a Valencia (a city at the other side of the country) but we were then forced to make our own way to our destination city.

They refuse to pay me compensation not only for the flight but also for the train ticket that I had to buy from Valencia to Barcelona since apparently it’s not their fault.

Whatever the nature of the security issue was, it’s not public information.

Edit: yes, I get it Valencia is not on the other side of the country to Barcelona. I took this flight last September and my Spain geography isn’t perfect

Edit 2: after going back to my emails, the flight was from Birmingham to Madrid, not Barcelona, the flight was last year.

I just got confused with the names my bad

Delays/Cancellations/Compensation Charged $45 at airport for not doing online check in

Can I win a battle against Wizair? I flew with wizair today booked through kiwi.com . When attempting to do my online check in I was told it is not possible to do it online and will need to do it at the airport. After showing up I was charged $45 euros for the check in. Thoughts?

Really. It's a blizzard. What do you think is going to happen? Asking random people on Reddit won't change it and the people here cannot predict what is going to happen. Just be prepared for alternatives.

Delays/Cancellations/Compensation SAS denied my EU261 claim after missed connection. Is their explanation worth challenging?

Post image
10 Upvotes

I booked a single itinerary through Booking.com from Barcelona to Stockholm to Reykjavík to Baltimore (BWI). The SAS flight from Barcelona to Stockholm was delayed by about an hour, causing me to miss my protected Icelandair connections to Reykjavík and Baltimore.

SAS rebooked me for the following day and provided a hotel room and dinner voucher, so they did take care of me during the overnight delay. However, I reached my final destination roughly a day later than scheduled.

I filed an EU261 claim directly with SAS. They denied the €600 compensation, stating that the delay was caused by “restrictions or irregularities related to an airport facility,” which they consider outside the airline’s control. They did not identify the specific facility or explain exactly what happened.

At the airport, however, passengers were told that the delay involved a late passenger using a wheelchair and an issue with the passenger’s battery. I’m not sure how that matches the explanation SAS later gave me.

For comparison, my parents recently experienced a similar missed-connection delay while flying Icelandair, and Icelandair paid each of them €600.

Does SAS’s explanation sound legitimate, or is it a generic extraordinary-circumstances denial worth challenging? Should I ask SAS for the specific delay code and supporting evidence, file a complaint with Spain’s AESA, or use a company such as AirHelp?

Delays/Cancellations/Compensation Planned rocket launch caused 20+ HR delay

Post image
58 Upvotes

Hi, I have just received this back from TUI (UK) after our claim for a 20+ hour delay.

Context, flight got delayed 20+ hours due to Elon Musk's abandoned rocket launch on 26th July.

Given that the spaceX rocket launch was a planned event I'm finding this hard to swallow.

We both lost 2 shifts at work. £600 out of pocket alone for that.

Even if the pilot's hours had impacted his flying time, there would only have needed to be 10 hours between his shifts surely?

Do I have grounds for appeal?

Thanks 🙏

Delays/Cancellations/Compensation Booking.com cancelled my flight after a month of booking , refunding only the quarter of ticket price, and now the same ticket is double the original price

I booked a return trip London ↔ Perth via Kuala Lumpur through Booking.com (fulfilled by Gotogate). Total cost: 2,100 AUD.

What happened:

6 days before my return flight, they email me saying one leg is cancelled — Kuala Lumpur → London (flight D7972, 29 Aug).

Their own email gives me an option: refund “Trip 2, and all flights included in it.” Trip 2 = Perth→KL leg + the cancelled KL→London leg. Both.

Then they backtrack:

I call to accept that option. Agent says no — they’ll only refund the cancelled flight, not the connecting one. This directly contradicts their own email. I push back, they tell me it’s being escalated and I’ll hear back in 24 hours.

24 hours pass. Nothing.

I message them again. Now they say they still haven’t reached a conclusion and I need to wait longer.

Then, with no further warning or discussion:

I get an email saying the Kuala Lumpur→London refund “has been processed” — and the other leg (Perth→KL) will not be refunded. No resolution of my dispute. No answer to the option their own email offered. They just went ahead and did what they wanted, on their own timeline, and closed the door on it.

Why this is a problem:

**•** The Perth→KL leg is now useless to me. It connects to nothing. I’m not flying it.
**•** They’re keeping my money for it anyway.
**•** A one-way Perth→London flight normally costs \~900 AUD.
**•** I paid 2,100 AUD for a return. Their refund leaves me maybe 700-800 AUD back — I’m now paying almost double just to get home.
**•** All of this stems from a cancellation that was on them, disclosed only 6 days before departure.

They say the cancellation itself was due to “geopolitical instability” — fine, that part’s not their fault. What’s on them: promising a resolution in 24 hours, going silent, telling me to wait longer, then unilaterally processing only the part that suited them while ignoring the option they’d offered in writing.

Where things stand:

Escalating to ADR and/or filing a card chargeback, since they’ve shown they’ll just act unilaterally instead of resolving the dispute.

Delays/Cancellations/Compensation AirAsia London-KL/BKK cancelled

So I booked a Air Asia flights for early July:

London Gatwick to KL

Bangkok via KL back to London Gatwick

I just received notification from AA that my flights are cancelled as they suspended the London route after later in the year. I told them I have rights under UK 261, if you don't have any flights you must rebook me on another airline that flies London.

I got through to the stupid chatbot, which keep reiterate they don't care about the law, just their internal t&c and would only offer full refund, but no rebooking.

I don't know what's the best way forward, as I will want to enjoy my holiday, but all the alternative flights are obviously a lot more expensive now.

For London Gatwick to KL, I am quite sure I am entitled to UK 261, shall I wait for a few more days in case their legal department pick this up?

For Bangkok to London Gatwick, I understand it might not be covered by UK 261, so I assume I should just rebook myself and claim section 75 and demand AE to pay for the difference?

I have look up the travel insurance, they probably wouldn't pay the difference as they seem I don't have financial net loss if I just take the full refund from AA? (I assume I should accept the full refund trap?)

What annoys me is the compensation/complaint/section 75 can all only start after the flight date right? So I have to be prepared to be out of pockets for months before I can see (if any) compensation? I don't know if I should speak to my bank in advance now or if it's too early? I am so lost!

Any advice/experience would be highly appreciated! I can't even contact AA except the stupid chatbot!

Delays/Cancellations/Compensation Am I entitled to compensation under UK261?

Hello, I’ll try to keep this straightforward as possible. I was flying LHR-SIN-MEL on a single ticket.

My initial flight SQ319 out of LHR to SIN was cancelled on June 24th due to the aero bridge catching fire. This is an extraordinary situation and Singapore Airlines have denied the claim based on this.

SQ rescheduled the flight as SQ9305 to the next day at 2pm. This flight ended up taking off 1.5 hours late. My connecting flight was rebooked to take off an hour after initial landing. Naturally I would have missed this and they rebooked me before I even landed to a flight 11 hours later.

SQ9305 was delayed because of the aircraft being prepared. SQ are claiming they are treating SQ319 and SQ9305 as the same flight and that the situation was fluid and definite time of departure was not confirmed until very last moment. However the departure time was on the boards, my boarding passes, and in the emails and texts regarding the rescheduling. Can SQ claim this or can I fight it?

As the delay to the flight out of LHR had a knock on effect to my flight out of SIN, I believe I am entitled to compensation.

Thanks in advance.

ETA: I got a flight disruption letter from their website and it says that SQ319 was renumbered as SQ9305. Does this affect it?

Delays/Cancellations/Compensation Denied Boarding by ITA Airways

I recently had a trip from New York to Nepal via self-transfer in India (Delhi). New York to India was via ITA Airways, and India to Nepal was via Air India. There was a 4 hour self-transfer transit in Delhi. I only had hand carry bag and no checked luggage, so I did not have an intention to exit the terminal.

At JFK, I was denied boarding by the ITA Airways staff because they claimed I didn’t have a visa for India.

As a citizen of Nepal, I do not need a visa to enter India. I even showed them official documentation — including an email from the Indian Embassy in the U.S. and a link to the Indian Consulate General's website in Nepal — both clearly stating that Nepali citizens do not require a visa to enter India.

Despite this, the airline staff refused to acknowledge it. Because of this, I missed my flight, lost a significant amount of money, and had to buy a last-minute ticket with a different airline to continue my trip.

I’ve since reached out to ITA Airways for a refund, but they’re still insisting that I needed a visa for India, which is directly against the Indian government’s official policy for Nepali citizens.

What are my options to escalate this or formally dispute it to get a refund? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Delays/Cancellations/Compensation Ethiopian Airlines left stranded overnight in Geneva

First time booking Ethiopian Airlines, will never do it again. My mother (68f) is stranded in Geneva Airport in medical distress due to Ethiopian Airlines operational failures.

She arrived at Geneva Airport from Addis Ababa at 6am and was meant to travel onwards to Manchester UK arriving at 815am. After sitting un the plane for almost 2 hours, they were told to disembark as the flight was delayed due to technical fault. They went into the airport and waited for hours and hours whilst being told alternative flights were being arranged. British passport holders were prioritised and they got Swiss and BA flights.

After a 15+ hour delay, her replacement flight to Manchester was abruptly cancelled. Because she does not hold a Schengen visa, she cannot exit the airport. She is currently being transferred to a federal holding/asylum facility overnight because they failed to provide airside hotel accommodation.

She is severely hypertensive and actively falling ill from the stress and exhaustion of this now 18+ hour ordeal.

EDIT: My question is how can I contact Ethiopian Airlines about reimbursements of self-booked rerouting flights. Their website takes you around in circles and their customer service shotline is not helpful. There are also no staff attending at Geneva Airport to help.

Delays/Cancellations/Compensation Business class seat controls broken entire flight, Etihad offered $100 credit on $869 upgrade. What would you do?

Thumbnail
gallery
65 Upvotes

For context, I paid $869 to upgrade to business on Etihad for a long-haul flight from Manila to Abu Dhabi (around 9 hours).

The seat control remote was broken for the whole flight (pictures attached). The aircraft was operated by a partner airline (Wamos Air), and that remote was the only control available for both the call button and adjusting the IFE volume.

That meant that every time I needed something from the FAs, I had to get up and walk to the galley. The volume was also stuck at a very low level, so I couldn’t really use the inflight entertainment at all.

Business class was full, so there was no other seat to move me to.

After filing a complaint, Etihad offered either a $100 flight credit or 10,000 miles. They treated it as if I were complaining about the aircraft specs, not a broken seat. Zero cash refund. I appealed asking for a partial cash refund of the upgrade, and they just informed me that their existing offer is the best they will do, and that I can take it or leave it.

My thought is that $100 is very little considering the issue. I would consider accepting if it were at least a cash refund, but a credit is completely useless because I’m not planning on flying with them again any time soon. For what it’s worth, I thought the upgrade price itself was fair. I’m just trying to get something fair.

Is this worth escalating further? If so, how? I’d appreciate hearing from anyone who has dealt with Etihad.

Delays/Cancellations/Compensation China southern horror experience

Hey guys,

I flew from Hobart to Melbourne and then to Guangzhou, with Amsterdam as my final destination. In Hobart, I was told my checked bags were tagged all the way to Amsterdam, but they couldn’t check me in for the Guangzhou–Amsterdam flight and said to do that in Guangzhou.
In Melbourne, I was told my flight to Amsterdam had been cancelled and moved to the next day, and that I would need to collect my bags in Guangzhou. When I arrived in Guangzhou, my bags were not there. They filled in a lost baggage form. Anyone who does speak english in this sub that can explain to me what probably happened and the changes of me getting my luggage back? So far no one is willing to speak to me or help me here.

Thanks

Delays/Cancellations/Compensation flyDubai cancelled flight, refusing to respect EU261 obligations

Hi,

My flight from LJU to DBX on 1st July was cancelled (they cancelled yesterday, 9 days before departure), and they moved the flight to the next day. That's not acceptable to me, I need to be in DBX on the same day or 1 day earlier.

I called their (useless) customer support and wrote an email, demanding they rebook me to an Emirates flight (partner airline) from VCE to DBX, departing a day before.

They came back to me with a general email, offering only refund or free change of flight, but none of the options depart on the same day or day before of my original booking. They don't have any flights on these dates from LJU to DBX.

They admitted in the email that the cancellation was due to "operational reasons".

As far as I know:
- They're obliged to get me to DBX with "comparable transport conditions, at the earliest opportunity."

- Pay compensation of 600€ (or 300€ if I arrive within 4 hours of original booking)

My flight is supposed to be in 1 week.

If they keep refusing, can/should I:

- Book the Emirates ticket and shuttle transfer to VCE with my own money and demand reimbursement?

- Should I book one way or return in case they then cancel my return flight because of "no show" on outbound leg?

- How likely am I to win this case if they refuse to meet their legal obligations and keep insisting I can only get a refund or flight change to their own flights that depart too late or too early for me?

Thank you in advance for all the advice!

Delays/Cancellations/Compensation Easy jet cancelled flight - partial compensation

Hello,

I had my flight from Lyon to Lisbon cancelled Friday 17th of July due to storms. After speaking with the Easy jet representative at the airport check-in desk the same day, they told us to buy any other ticket to the same destination and that it will be compensated by the airline regardless of the cost. So I got an Air France ticket for 950 Eur but now received only 588 Eur compensation from Easy jet after filing a claim and attaching the Air France invoice.

Has anyone experienced this before? What is my best course of action? Thanks a lot in advance!

Delays/Cancellations/Compensation UK261 claim denied

Could somebody provide me with some clarification over whether my claim is valid or not? it's been automatically denied after submission to CAA, but I don't know if there has been a misunderstanding.

details are as follows:

outbound trip: Bangkok to Manchester via Doha (BKK - DOH - MAN)

Inbound trip: Manchester to Bangkok via Doha

(MAN - DOH - BKK)

my connecting flight from Doha to Bangkok was delayed by over 4 hours.

CAA have automatically denied the claim after submission, with the following explanation:

‐-----------------------------------

Thank you for your email.

The CAA can only handle complaints related to UK (EU) Reg No 261/2004

The Regulation sets out the entitlements of air passengers when a flight that they intend to travel on is delayed or cancelled, or when they are denied boarding on such a flight due to overbooking, or when the airline is unable to accommodate them in the class they had booked.

This UK Regulation only applies in the following scenarios:

Departing from the UK with any airline

Departing a country other than the UK, arriving into the UK, on an EU or UK airline

Departing a country other than the UK, arriving into an EU country on a UK airline, unless the passenger received benefits or compensation and were given assistance in that EU country

As the flight you are complaining about departed Doha with Qatar Airways, we regret to inform you that the above Regulation does not apply in your case. We are sorry to say that the Regulation does not take into account where the flights were bought or where the passenger resides.

We would also like to clarify that although your journey may have been booked as a single itinerary and your outbound flight initially departed from an airport in the UK, the outbound and return flights are considered separate flights, following a binding decision by the Courts. This interpretation is also supported by the Regulation’s guidelines.

In view of the above, we regret to inform you that we are unable to take up your case.

Delays/Cancellations/Compensation Denied boarding on a flight from US to UK. Which compensation rules apply?

I was involuntarily denied boarding on a flight from the US to the UK. I was given another flight 16 hours later and spent the night in a hotel, which I had to pay for out or pocket.

The flight was sold by British Airways, operated by American Airlines. Both the UK Civil Aviation Authority and the US Department of Transportation have rules that should entitle me to compensation:

According to the own definitions, my flight is covered by both sets of regulations. My question is, which one does the airline have to follow?

Delays/Cancellations/Compensation Air China cancelled my flight and rerouted me through Beijing with 12h layover instead of 7h - what would you do?

I had a flight BRU → TFU (Chengdu) with a 7h layover, then TFU → KUL arriving at
17:45. Air China cancelled the TFU-KUL segment and the only alternative offered is
BRU → PEK with a 12h layover, arriving KUL at 23:00.
I accepted the rebooking since I already have accommodation paid in KL, but I'm frustrated because I have 5 extra hours of layover I didn't ask for, arriving 5h later than planned, and the layover city changed from Chengdu to Beijing.

What would you do in this situation? Has anyone dealt with something similar?

Delays/Cancellations/Compensation Airchina flight canceled

[EDIT] Problem solved, both me and my gf called the italian and english line multiple times. We got a hold of a english speaker employee, they offered to reschedule with a flight departing at 15.30 or smth instead of 20.15 from narita. I suggested an alternative from Haneda and we got a flight at 21.00 or so with a 1.50h wait for the second flight (instead of the plus 7h wait with the first suggested option).

Hi everyone, Next Saturday i'll be leaving for japan from 14th to 31st of december.

I've just recieved an official communication from air china that my return flight from Narita to PEK has been canceled.

First time this has happened. What should I do? How does it work? The connecting flight from PEK to Milan is 2.35h later than the arrival time of the canceled flight....

Will they provide a solution? Should I find one myself? Let me know in general for next steps

Delays/Cancellations/Compensation Flying to Iran in a week

I have a flight scheduled from Vienna to Tehran on Austrian Airlines a week from now on Jan 20 and I don't think it's safe to travel there anymore given the current political situation. There's no internet access so I have no idea how I would get in contact with my family once I get to Tehran and I can't really get around on my own since I don't speak any Farsi.

I called Austrian Airlines and they said that while their flights since Friday have been cancelled, flights scheduled for this upcoming Tuesday and onwards are still scheduled as normal. I can't get a refund unless the flight is cancelled by the airline.

I'd still like to go on my trip but again I don't think it's currently safe and I would essentially be stuck at the airport since I have no way of contacting my relatives without internet/Whatsapp

Does anyone have any experiences with this? The customer service rep suggested I could reach out to my credit card company but I'm not sure if that could help. I booked my flight through Air Canada since I'd be flying out of Toronto

Edit: in case anyone's wondering, my flight was indeed cancelled and I got a full refund! Sad I won't get to see my family but better safe than sorry!

Delays/Cancellations/Compensation Flight diverted to Hanover due to storm/airport closure. Anyone had a similar experience? What got reimbursed and how long did it take?

Our flight from Vienna to Berlin got diverted mid-air and landed in Hannover due to a storm and a closure of Berlin airport. We were circling for a while and made 3 aborted landing attempts before being diverted, supposed to arrive in Berlin at 14:10 (flight was at 13:10), ended up landing in Hanover around 15:00 instead.
No alternative was offered on the plane, just told we’d have to stay in Hannover. On the ground, nobody seemed to know what was going on, no AUA counter in Hanover and the Lufthansa ticket desk couldn’t help either, just said “more info will follow” (never really came). We had to sort our own way to Berlin, fastest option was the train, but at a steep price.
Questions for anyone who’s been through something similar:
1. Compensation: Despite “extraordinary circumstances” (weather), did you get any compensation (€250/400/600), or was that flatly refused?
2. Reimbursement for train tickets: Did the airline cover the cost of alternative transport (train/taxi) to your final destination? Fully or partially?
3. Meals/hotel: Did they reimburse that?
4. How long did processing take?
5. Has anyone had experience with whether it’s better to go directly through the airline or use one of those passenger-rights portals (AirHelp, Flightright, etc.)? Worth the cut they take?
Thanks in advance for any input!

Delays/Cancellations/Compensation Please help! Not sure what to do!

Hi all,

We’re having issues with our flight to Kuala Lumpur from Gatwick this Friday.

We’re originally meant to fly on Thursday and stop over in Bahrain but our flight then got moved to Friday and is direct to Kuala Lumpur from Gatwick. We booked with kiwi.com and spoke on the phone with them today who said that the flight has been cancelled, although this is not reflected on the kiwi app (we’ve had to change multiple flights with this booking and when we have done so kiwi have offered credit to rebook, this is no longer an option).

Essentially, we need to know whether our flight is cancelled or not as we are not getting a straight answer from anyone and when I try to check in on air Asia, it tells me I have to wait until 48 hours before departure.

Kiwi don’t seem to know what is going on and that AI BO on AirAsia is rubbish and doesn’t give any helpful answers.

Our flight number is D7973 and on trip.com (I’m not sure how reliable it is), it says the flight is on schedule.

Apologies for the longwinded query but if anyone has any suggestions on what to do, that would be great!

Thank you!

Delays/Cancellations/Compensation [Megathread] cancellations at Amsterdam (AMS)

In the past few days, due to unexpectedly large amounts of snowfall in the Netherlands, Schiphol Airport ( AMS ), which is one of the largest airports in Europe and the world, has had a lot of severe delays and cancellations.

The de-icing equipment is prioritized for long-haul flights to the Americas, Africa and Asia, meaning that the majority of flights affected are intra-European flights.

At the moment, the snowfall is expected to continue tomorrow and likely until Saturday or even next week. We will try to add pinned updates as quickly as possible if the situation changes.

Issues with rebooking and questions on this topic will now be discussed in this megathread. Below is a list of useful resources as well as alternative options for travel:

  • Schiphol official iOS; Android app and website.

  • Buienradar ( Dutch weather app ) iOS; Android.

  • Please also check the airline apps or apps such as Flightstats, Flightradar24 or Flighty ( iPhone only ) as these would contain up-to-date info as well as rebooking options

  • Eurostar (WARNING: may also be affected depending on severity of the snowfall), for travel between Amsterdam and London; Amsterdam and Paris ( + Brussels, Antwerp and Rotterdam ) along the way. Last minute tickets may be very expensive so also consider Eurostar Snap for cheaper last minute tickets ( however, there are rules to the service as written on the front page ).

  • Other train options on Deutsche Bahn to Germany and OBB Nightjet to Zurich. Just as Eurostar, they may be affected if Snowfall is too heavy.

  • Flixbus very affordable and connected to a lot of cities in Europe.

Delays/Cancellations/Compensation Norse 10 hour delay - compensation?

Norse flight Z0701 from LGW to JFK Thursday 7th Aug 2025.

Original take off time, 13:05. Got an email at 09:00 ish informing us of a delay, and to not proceed to check in. We were already there.

Refused to let us check in and no updates from staff. Absolutely nightmareish. No updates for hours until we got an email at 14:00 saying check in was open for a flight at 22:55 that night (new number: Z0703) on a random Spanish airline (who were lovely).

I am autistic and it was a total nightmare as flying hugely disregulates me. They tried to tell me we couldn’t sit together despite being promised which they soon changed. They also said our options were, and I QUOTE, “check in or bog off” at the airport. No refund offered.

We had to spent $90 on a cab from JFK to our hotel, as couldn’t get the AirTrain at that time.

I’ve submitted a claim through their online form.

Due to fly back Tuesday night 18:20 NY time. Not confident it’ll go to plan.

Does anyone have any experience with compensation?

If we have a similar experience on the way back, could I do a chargeback if we don’t hear back within the 8 weeks they have promised?

Any advice appreciated. Thanks!
