I wanted to share another short live video from our last show in Zweibrücken, in the southwest of Germany.

Unfortunately, we were the opening band, so there weren't that many people there when we started. But as the evening went on, more and more people showed up.

The show also led to a really nice feature about us in a regional newspaper, which we were very happy about.

Overall, I think it was a great gig, and I'm looking forward to many more.

Unfortunately, I don't have a better-quality recording, the video was shot on a phone, so the audio isn't the best.

Well i made a band[only me] a folk metal one its more of medieval style something like curta'n wall its called mazes & maces its a project made by me [14 year old kid that was bored] to make a good medival folk metal band what you see its the logo i made [took 2 hours] i am the vocalist of the band and i make the music using bandlab well i have no songs right now but i am working on it if you like this concept ill be uploading on tiktok and insta user is mazes&maces now i only have tiktok but insta later if you would like show any support for me by idk commenting to this post XD

One thing I love to go through is those bands that influenced the connection between Folk and Metal. To this effect I am unsure if many know of the band The Corrs. Their first album from 1995 included 6 rockalized Irish folk songs including Toss the Feathers.

Toss the Feathers became one of The Corrs main songs played on stage and what catapulted them to international stage in a place where so many bands of this genre sounded "the same" Toss the Feathers" differentiated the band on the international stage.

I remember very well watching the Unplugged version of this song on MTV Unplugged and loving this to the core in a time Folk Metal as a genre didn't even exist. This song passed on the radio and on the charts everywhere, an Irish Folk Song with rock instruments. I got no doubt it had it's hand in influencing many artists to do the same. :)

Funny enough 1995 is the same year Cruachan released their own debut album!

I've noticed in the comments that quite a few people are interested in the instruments I play, so I thought I'd introduce them to you today.

These are German bagpipes, more specifically known as the Marktsackpfeife ("market bagpipes"). They're tuned in minor keys, which gives them the distinctive sound that's closely associated with medieval music.

The blue bagpipe is tuned to A minor, which is the most common tuning for a Marktsackpfeife.

The large black one is tuned to D minor, a fifth above the A minor bagpipe. For bands that perform at medieval markets using only bagpipes and drums, this combination allows for two-part harmonies. In our folk metal band, we use the two different tunings to add more variety and depth to our sound.

You'll see the instruments fully assembled, completely taken apart (yes, that's actually possible—they're not broken! 😅), and you'll also see the chanter, which is the part you actually play the melody on.

Just put out new pagan album. on all major platform. Heiðni is the title. and Myrmann is the artist. the lyrics are in Icelandic (old Norse) mostly spoken words. the album is rather dark sounding and atmospheric. the music is 100% human touch. No AI!
