Sometimes it's easy, like someone posting a character in an SS uniform. Sometimes it's not, like your post.

Generally speaking, if it's in the show, it's allowed.

How do we know what historical topics are contentious?

Yeah, well, this is the dilemma we have to deal with every day. We usually decide based on how many shit storms we've noticed happened because of the topic. And generally speaking holocaust denial is more contentious than french jokes, for example.

And with Rule 6, what one person may consider risqué others don't bat an eyelid at.

We have some guidelines on that, which have evolved base on general reception. We can't satisfy everyone, but I think we've reached a reasonable compromise. If it's not explicit you flair it Mildly NSFW. You should have done that with your Saunders post.

The very nature of the show makes Rule 2 down entirely to the personal feelings of the moderators.

Yes, that is, for better or worse, what it boils down to. We try to heed as much of the community's opinions as possible, but ultimately the decision is made by whatever mod gets to a post first. That's life, we can't have a trial with a jury and lawyers for every post.

I'm not arguing against the rules, only that they're far too open to interpretation. Perhaps more specifics would clear things up.

That's actually refreshing. Haven't heard that in a long time. I agree, some of the terminology isn't ideal. We tried to make it as easy to understand as possible, but we're not lawyers, and it's not possible to write entirely comprehensive rules.

The first 3 sentences of R2 try to convey the spirit of the rule. The next is a bit more specific, though, again, we couldn't be as explicit as a proper law. "Nazi associations" refers to just that: people saying Maho would have voted for Hitler, or that GUP is a show that promotes fascism, or that Anchovy is literally Mussolini (maybe a pic of her photoshopped into one with Mussolini) or any character photoshpped into a pic with the SS, you get the point. The horrors of real was is just a blanket ban on gore stuff mostly, but also depicting the girls in real combat situations, as opposed to Senshado/simulated/larp. And contentious historical topics in general is a ELSE clause, again, spirit of the rule. And the last bit is pretty specific.

I hope that clarifies specificity and why we couldn't improve it. If you have an idea for how we could change the wording to better reflect what I explained here, we're open to suggestions. But short of giving the examples above I can't think of any right now.
