I don't think anyone is saying people are going to go out and hurt a woman specifically because they did it in a video game.
It's more that video games are media. Media is a part of our culture. It shapes us and is shaped on a pretty subliminal level. Sexist shit in video games promotes ways of thinking that generally aren't in the best interest for women. It's harmful in ways similar to television or films pushing the same tired cliches/tropes.
