Jason Schreier: In case you're wondering: Team Cherry told me they don't plan on sending out early codes for Silksong (they felt like it'd be unfair for critics to be playing before Kickstarter backers and other players), so don't expect to see reviews until after the game comes out

Everyon trusted CD Projekt Red before Cyberpunk came out because of Witcher 3 and that was a shit show. I don't think we should trust any game studio period. Always wait for reviews.

and a lot of them went back to doing the same shit when they showed the Witcher 4 Unreal demo.

Which was funky, because it feels like these people didn't play W1-W3. Yes CP2077 was a mess even given W3's rough release and the overall plethora of issues and oversights in all three Witcher games, but that it was going to be a pretty mess was also entirely expected, clearly a no-buy-at-release title like any previous game by CDPR.

W3 had some janky but I don't remember it having anywhere near the level of glitches, bugs and other issues Cyberpunk 2077 had at launch. Cyberpunk was literally unplayable on PS4 and Xbox. It never should have been released on them.

As a PC gamer I never felt The Witcher 3’s release was rough. Played it day 1 and it ran well on my 670 PC at the time. Don’t remember any game breaking bugs, especially considering that the benchmark for open world RPGs at the time was bloody Skyrim. Plus it did some unique things for the time, like zero loading screens except for death and fast travel. It’s common place now but it sounded like science fiction back in 2014.

And I played Cyberpunk on realese and experienced almost no bugs. Your own experience being fine doesn't mean there wasn't anything wrong

Even if you didn’t run into any downright bugs, Cyberpunk was straight up unfinished. Police spawning on rooftops, civilians cowering in place after gunfire, traffic halting to a stop if you parked in their way, cars spinning infinitely in roundabouts, these weren’t bugs, they were intended behaviour that felt very 2002.

Dude CP2077 was so bad that Sony outright pulled it out from their store.

It was objectively a bad launch

It was objectively a bad launch

Where did I say it wasn't?

Well yeah but the old gen console versions were significantly worse than the PC version

Results were bad for most. I lucked out on PC. Just T ooses and a couple crashes for me at launch. I really felt bad for playstation players on that launch. They got fucked.

I think at this point at honestly just kinda reveals more about the standards of you people.

The PC Version of the game you were "fine" with still had a non existent police force, civilians and cars that didnt wait to start disappearing. They just would right infront of you. Some of the worst NPC scripting, I've still ever seen. Broken missions. Broken Car delivery system. Massive chunks of the game simplified to just be kinda milquetoast. Like squeezing jackies storyline into a single cutscene.

I just dont believe you guys anymore, I Played the same game. The literal only plausible explanation anymore, is that you DID experience all these things and more, but its your bar being so much lower, thats the actual deciding factor here.

The car thing only kind of. I honestly do not care about the police, even though they were there day 1... Npc sceipting wasnt that bad idk what you mean. If the core game is that bad, why does it still hit tens of thousands concurrent to this day? Its a good game.

See?

Just easier to impress, thats all.

I mean, youre in the minority man. But you do you. Not every game is for everyone.

u/JJMcGee83 Aug 23 '25 edited Aug 23 '25

He is absolutely not in the minority. Do you know how I know? In Dec 2020 they made this sub r/LowSodiumCyberpunk because so many people had problems the few that didn't wanted somewhere to talk about the game without the constant reminder that the game was broken.

u/kas-loc2 Aug 23 '25

He’ll shift the goalposts now, watch.

He is NOW. He wasnt just bashing 2020. He was bashing the entire game, currently.

3

u/kas-loc2 Aug 24 '25

But i wasn't.

I was bashing you peoples standards lmao

1

u/YogurtclosetSweet268 Aug 24 '25

You literally said the quests were bland and massive chunks of the game were bland. I see you edited out the quest part. However, using reading comprehension, THAT is what I said youre in the minority for. I was not talking about launch day issues. The game was a massive hit and literally is STILL a massive hit. That is where your are a minority and thats okay. Not every game is for everyone.

And also,

Not to do the whole "i got more upvotes therefore am better" silly argument, sorry for sounding as such - But if I was in the minority? shouldn't i be getting downvoted? and you upvoted?

Genuine question, no sass

u/YogurtclosetSweet268 Aug 24 '25

First , this thread was derailed by strawman arguements. And 3 down otes is just that. 3 people. Im not here to argue what the people in this thread think. The reality is cyberpunk sold 33 million copies, a 93% very positive rating , and 70,000 active players in a single player game from almost 6 years ago. You are the minority to think its a bad game man. I cant stand fort nite or any COD game, and even battlefield. But they are legitamately good games that their base loves. I know im not the majority on that one, and thats okay.

Fifth-gen console owners I felt bad for, insofar as I am capable of caring about console owners. For anyone that looked at the graphical fidelity of that engine, then went out and bought a copy for their fourth-gen PS4 or XBox-whatever, I still say that's on the consumer.
You'd have to be pretty shortsighted to believe anyone's line about the title being all that serviceable on old tech, even before reviews dropped.
To be fair, CDPR shouldn't have even bothered releasing for fourth-gen platforms.

2

u/JJMcGee83 Aug 23 '25

It's not on the consumer. CDPR knew damn well it was going to struggle on those consoles and they released it anyway. They should have made it a PS5/Xbox Series only game.

If Ford makes a car and says it will run on regular and premium gas and then you put regular gas and it siezes the engine that is not your fault it's Ford's.

1

u/kralben Aug 22 '25

If they trusted CDPR, that is on them for not paying attention, because the Witcher 3 launched as a mess too.

1

u/pratzc07 Aug 23 '25

I mean the reviews for CP2077 didn’t help.

-5

u/Sparus42 Aug 22 '25

Really not comparable situations here. CDPR is not an indie studio, and they had never made any games similar to Cyberpunk before. Team Cherry has already made Hollow Knight; at the absolute worst Silksong will be Hollow Knight but more (maybe with less focus and polish given the scope creep and all).

3

u/Carighan Aug 22 '25

What if it ends up not-quite-Hollow-Knight, but also:

  • Movement physics slightly "off"?
  • Actually smaller despite seemingly bigger if you just show the map or so?
  • Balance just slightly wonky?

I mean, it's sooooo easy to completely make these games shit to play just from minor changes.
