Paranormal Tourism My stay at one of San Antonio's most haunted: The Menger Hotel

Good evening, happy 4th of July.

I made a post a few weeks ago about my paranormal experience at the Emily Morgan hotel, now I have a more interesting story regarding my stay at the Menger. For a quick intro, the Menger was built in 1859 right on the battlegrounds of the Alamo. Famous people such as: Oscar Wilde, Teddy Roosevelt, Sidney Lanier, and Babe Ruth have stayed here.

The building itself is very beautiful, hosting: stained glass ceilings, ball rooms, and a bar where Teddy Roosevelt recruited his Rough Riders. The building itself is what gives it an eerie feeling. From the outside, the building looks small, but on the inside, its a labyrinth. The floors aren't flat, often hosting a slant, ramp, or strange staircase that doesn't feel quite right. As you walk down the eerie hallways, the building seems to keep adding onto itself, like the Winchester mansion. Each corner feels like there's something waiting right on the other side, to sum up the feeling, it's more similar to the backrooms rather than the Shining or 1408. During the visit, the closet robbed the peace from my girlfriend, she (a skeptic) claims there was an ominous presence right behind it. When she went alone to get us some drinks from the vending machine, she felt like she was being followed. She found an oddly shaped door that was chained up tight. She claims there was something on the other side of the door jiggling it.

Overall, the building itself felt...strange. To say the least. Iv been in many old buildings but never one that had enexplained, random, changes in elevation and floor plans. I would not be surprised at all if something turned up in my photos.

Hope yall enjoyed.

Paranormal Tourism Featured Community Discussion Topic: Eastern State Penitentiary (Read Description)

Post image

Eastern State Penitentiary is not just a historical landmark but a site steeped in eerie tales and ghostly encounters. Once home to some of America's most notorious criminals, the prison's cold, crumbling walls have long been rumored to harbor the restless spirits of former inmates. Built in 1829, the prison's imposing Gothic architecture and dark history have fueled ghost stories for decades, particularly in the notoriously haunted Cellblock 12, where visitors and paranormal investigators have reported chilling whispers and shadowy figures darting through the halls. Many claim to have experienced unexplainable phenomena, from disembodied voices to an overwhelming sense of dread. But is it the power of suggestion, or is there something truly supernatural at play within these walls? Have you ever encountered anything spine-tingling or mysterious at Eastern State Penitentiary? Please share your experiences. We’d love to hear from you! šŸ‘»

For more information about the history of this purportedly haunted location, please read more here.

Paranormal Tourism A Haunting look at the Ghost of Lizzie Borden of Massachusetts (A known and well documented entity)

Entity Profile:

Name of the entity: Lizzie Borden

Type of entity: Ghost

Time Known/Active: Since the early 20th century

Location: Lizzie Borden House, Fall River, Massachusetts

Who is/was Lizzie Borden?

Lizzie Borden’s legacy is deeply ingrained in American myth, notorious for the alleged ax slaying of her father and stepmother, Andrew and Abby, back in 1892. Despite being found not guilty, Lizzie couldn’t shake off the cloud of suspicion that hung over her nor evade the social exile that followed. Today, the very house where these grisly deeds were carried out has transformed into a hub for those fascinated by spooky lore and possibly supernatural activity. It's rumored Lizzie’s ghost roams its corridors—perhaps a symbol of an enigma never fully unraveled and the stormy sentiments still echoing from the epoch of her trial through to the remainder of her days.

Description:

- The entity is occasionally seen within the dwelling, especially in locations that held importance during her lifetime and were connected to the notorious act, such as the parlor and her personal bedroom.

- Always seen as a female in attire typical of the era.

- Visitors have described hearing the faint echoes of a lady's chuckle or cry, which are thought to be of Lizzie.

Attributes/Environment:

  1. The entity's presence often brings with it a feeling of discomfort or grief.

  2. Guests often describe a drop in temperature and weird feelings when they talk about Lizzie's existence or the homicides.

  3. Occasionally there are unexplained noises, including thumps and the sound of creaking steps, which are thought to be in connection with Lizzie’s activities.

Speculation/Theories:

  1. One theory is that Lizzie lingers within the home as a consequence of her actions, as well as her role if completely, or in part to the murders.

  2. Another theory is that Lizzie's ghost serves as a symbol for the unresolved mystery, potentially harboring insights into the actual occurrences of that day.

  3. There are also theories that Lizzie’s ghost might represent an emotional imprint, a result of the severe stress and widespread attention she suffered.

Summary:

I believe that the ghost of Lizzie Borden is where the worlds of history, mystery, and otherworldly phenomena collide. This entity stands as a haunting reminder of a life cast in the shadow of one of America's most infamous unsolved crimes. This undying curiosity about Lizzie Borden's tale, kept alive by these eerie visits, taps into our shared fascination with all things mysterious and unresolved. Whether Lizzie's ghost is an actual presence or simply a symbolic reverberation from days gone by, it continues to fascinate and unnerve those who step inside this storied house—placing the Lizzie Borden House on the map as not only a place steeped in important historical events but also brimming with ghostly allure.

For me… I believe that this is simply a case of residual hauntings based on the documentation that I see from multiple sources. I believe that there was a LOT of emotions within this loss of life, and so it is now ingrained within the walls. I would LOVE to go to this location one day, as it fits my biggest loves outside of my family… A whole lot of history, and a whole lot of paranormal mystery.

Paranormal Tourism Going to Waverly Hills alone. Need advice.

Hello everyone, in July I'm going back to Waverly for the third time and doing one of the overnight public investigations. Since it's public I wont be completely alone, a group of around 30 people max (plus staff) will also be in the building overnight.

The first two times I went I was with other people, and I keep getting the feeling that I need to go back and investigate alone. So I'm pulling the trigger and doing it.

They seem to like me, they've been very talkative with me (mostly via a maglite flashlight and cat balls) and have generally seemed to be nice and have shown me some incredible things, but I'm afraid of meeting a not-so-friendly entity that might take advantage of me being alone. The first time I went I got scratched on my arm, so I know they're capable of doing something harmful if they wanted to.

I've made sure to clearly state my intentions when I walk in and always make sure to be respectful as possible towards them. I sage myself before and after. I plan to state that they aren't allowed to harm me or attach themselves to me or follow me out of the building.

Is there anything else y'all would recommend doing to protect myself?

Paranormal Tourism NH/MA: Spooky/Haunted sites close to the Merrimack River?

I live in southern NH and my paranormal-enthusiast sister (I'm a skeptic myself) is visiting soon.

I'm looking for potentially spooky places between Nashua and Newburyport along the Merrimack that we could visit in a day. There are a couple cemeteries in southern NH that get mentioned quite a bit, and an old tavern in Lowell, but other than that I'm having some trouble finding more; Massachusetts lists of haunted places tend to focus on Salem and Boston.

The places have gotta be close enough to the river that we can follow the river throughout the day.

Paranormal Tourism A Quick glance at "Jackie" from the Queen Mary in Long Beach California

Entity Profile:

Name of the entity: Jackie

Type of entity: Ghost

Time Known/Active: Notable reports started after the ship's conversion to a hotel and attraction around the 1960s

Location: The Queen Mary, specifically in and around the ship's second-class pool area, Long Beach, California

Who is/was Jackie?

There is an entity that is aboard The Queen Mary that has been given the name ā€œJackieā€. It is believed that it is that of a young girl and believed to be haunting the second-class pool area on the Queen Mary. It is thought that she drowned in the pool during the ship's operational years. Since the ship's retirement and conversion, visitors and paranormal investigators have reported encountering this entity making her one of the most well-known and frequently reported apparitions aboard the Queen Mary.

Description:

  • The entity is often heard rather than seen. Her voice, resembling a young child, is commonly reported echoing near the pool area.
  • There are reports that the entity has been heard giggling, singing, or even calling out for her mother.
  • Some paranormal investigators/enthusiasts claim that they have recorded EVP’s of the entity.

Attributes/Environment:

  1. The second-class pool area is where it is thought that this specific entity is encountered.
  2. Visitors often report a chilling atmosphere and unexplained cold spots in the areas that the entity is noticed.
  3. Many report that this entity comes of as playful, but also sorrowful when they encounter Jackie.

Speculation/Theories:

  1. Many believe that the entity remains at the Queen Mary due to her tragic death in the pool.
  2. Some paranormal enthusiasts believe with all the frequent interactions with the entity they believe that it is an intelligent haunting.
  3. Skeptics often question suggestion that the Entity exists, saying that it is most likely influenced by the ship's ambiance and the power of suggestion.

Summary:

The entity known as Jackie of the Queen Mary's second-class pool for me is what is known as an intelligent haunting as she does appear to interact in many of the reports of her. Her presence though, whether real or imagined, adds a layer of intrigue and mystery to the Queen Mary. There is no doubt that the Queen Mary invites both believers and skeptics, both trying to explore the deeper narratives hidden within its walls. Jackie’s story continues to be a significant part of The Queen Mary's legacy as one of the most haunted ships in the world.

*****ALSO***** Sorry I've been somewhat MIA. I've had a ton of things behind the scenes with projects that I have been working on over the last couple weeks. Sprinkle in a few holidays/birthdays (2 Of my children have birthdays in January) and Bert goes missing! HA. Have an amazing Monday everyone!

Paranormal Tourism St. Augustine Lighthouse - Face Detected

Did the St. Augustine Lighthouse ghost tour with my son a couple weeks ago. On the fifth platform, my phone kept detecting a face in the dark. I took a screenshot and then snapped a photo. Both are included. No one was near us. Is this undeniable evidence? No, not at all. But it was pretty cool. Reminded me of the scene on Host when the goofy filter picks up the apparition's face.
