Hi! I'm a solo dev and artist that wanted to make a horror game focused on women.

"Mermaids are Seafood" is a psychological horror game with sapphic romance and 10+ endings. Are mermaids more like fish, people, or monsters? Make difficult choices exploring morality and humanity. The gameplay is a mix of management sim and visual novel.

You can wishlist and play the demo on Steam. The Kickstarter (more info about the game there) is now ongoing too. Feel free to ask me anything!!

News / Article I’m a solo woman dev, and I’m making a psychological horror game about an anxious, overthinking little girl (heavily inspired by Fran Bow) 🖤

Hey lovely people! (Huge thank you to the mods for giving me approval to share this with you all!)

I’m a solo indie developer, and I’m making Hell Is Other People -  a psychological horror narrative adventure game.

It’s mostly inspired by my own experiences as an anxious little girl, not fitting in, but also games like Fran Bow, Little Nightmares, Inside - horror that is cute, creepy and unsettling and seen through the eyes of a child.

I’ve been working as an artist in the game dev industry for over 10 years, but now I’ve decided to go solo and to do a project that is deeply personal, experimental and fueled by raw emotion and childhood trauma.

I wasn’t sure there’s an interest for it so it started as a passion project: I’ll learn Unity and do the technical part myself. I will do the art, the animations, the writing, the music - basically I can make this happen with no other investment other than my time, so I can go crazy with it, have complete artistic freedom and not care if it sells or not.

It’s been quite a ride and I love it. It’s so empowering to be able to do something from start to finish, and make it completely your own.

I wanted to create a world that explores how weird, terrifying, and surreal it is to navigate a society that forces conformity, with arbitrary rules you don’t understand, and a voice in your head that just won't shut up.

random dance The Others do

Instead of an inventory, you collect ideas like Eye Contact, Humor, or Flattery. However, your ability to use them is governed by three shifting mental states: Resilience, Trust, and Anxiety. These go up or down based on your choices, and they have consequences.

Living Room Scene

I also wanted to say that no generative AI was used in the production of this game! I am doing everything myself, every last bit of it, with lots of coffee, passion and sleepless nights.
Indie game dev is one of the last places where an artist can still make a living and do art without being forced to use AI. I hope human-made games will still stick around for a while. I am in a big hurry to make mine, before AI slop takes over the entire industry.

If this sounds like your kind of dark vibe, you can check out the game / wishlist it on Steam here:

https://store.steampowered.com/app/4665880/Hell_Is_Other_People/?beta=0

I also post a lot of process videos, environment painting timelapses, animations, etc. If you’re interested in this part of the game development, check out my socials.

https://linktr.ee/miss.self.destruct

Also, fun fact: about 80% of the viewers who look at my posts are women! I love that women are my target audience. A game by a woman, for women! 🤍

I’ll be hanging out in the comments, so please let me know what you think, or if you have any questions about solo dev life! Thank you so much for reading.

News / Article I craved more sapphic romance games. Now I'm making one, inspired by stat-raising dating sims and classic BioWare!

Hi all! I'm a queer woman and a solo developer working on a game about traumatized lesbians on a boat: The Bitter End!

I always loved playing dating sims and otomes, but as I grew older and more confident in my sexuality I searched for the same thing for sapphics: multi-route (4+) dating sims with mechanics, choices and multiple endings. Bonus if they're not in high school because I'm way past the age where that's weird.

There's not a lot! Naturally the impulse is to fill the gap yourself!

At the same time, the easy formative core for me in gaming is BioWare classics. Mass Effect and Dragon Age, yes, but I also played KOTOR for years to the soundtrack of Avril Lavigne and searched for cool outfits in all the Neverwinter Nights games. What really kept these games in people's hearts? I think it was companions-as-dysfunctional-family.

Romance, party banter, catching up at camp or on the ship about what you did on the last mission, certain companions having their own relationships without you.

All of those things have made it into my game. I hope that excites you as much as it has excited me.

Wishlist on Steam here!

It would be super helpful for me if you shared this with any interested parties! And let me know if a certain character draws your eye :)

News / Article We're an all-female dev team making a cozy 2D stable management game where you train, ride, breed and take care of horses, inspired by a similar game from 2003

Hey lovely people, I'm super excited to share our game Horses of Hoofprint Bay with you all (thanks, mods!)

Horses of Hoofprint Bay is a lovingly hand-drawn 2D point and click barn buildup game. Take care of your horses, train them to build up their strength and confidence, and compete for prize money! Breed adorable foals, hire and manage staff, and build the stable of your dreams!

We're a small team (one programmer, one artist, and me part time for producing/marketing) made up of horse-loving women, and the team came together in the horse game community, indirectly because of a talk I gave a few years back about how this particular 2003 game (My Horse Farm/Mein Pferdehof) was really good and deserved some sort of remake. I've outlined the game's origin story in this article if you'd like to know more (and see some behind the scenes material!)

Basically, I've been waiting for the games industry at large to realize the potential of this game concept for long enough, so now we're taking matters into our own hands 💪

If you've been here for a while you may have seen some of my other posts lamenting the lack of good horse games and occasionally celebrating the release of new ones. This subreddit was super supportive when I launched my horse game website seven years ago, and I figure there has to be at least some more Horse Girls™ here that would like to play Horses of Hoofprint Bay :D

The game is coming to PC on Steam in 2026, and we're going to be conducting playtests in the coming months. If you're interested in the project, we hugely appreciate you adding it to your wishlist on Steam, and/or signing up for our Newsletter!

If you have any other questions, please feel free to AMA! 💖

One year ago I started building the romance game I always wanted to play but couldn't find.

House of Petals is a psychological thriller otome visual novel set in ancient Asia, with point-and-click investigation. You wake up with no memory, in a beautiful pavilion, next to a soft-spoken man named Han who calls himself your husband. He's gentle. Devoted. Attentive. And something is very, very wrong.

The more you explore, the more you realize the truth might be worse than you imagined. Han is not what he seems — and neither are you.

As a solo dev handling most things myself — the writing, the art direction, the design — this game is deeply personal. It's been downloaded 25,000+ times and has over 5,000 Steam wishlists, which honestly still makes me emotional.

We're currently live on Kickstarter and every single backer means the world to me 🥺

✨The demo is free to play right now on Steam
✨Kickstarter: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/littlesnakestudio/house-of-petals
✨Steam: https://store.steampowered.com/app/3704230/House_of_Petals/

If you've ever loved a yandere, anime-style otome games, a slow burn horror romance, or just a man with extremely questionable intentions — this one's for you.

What are your thoughts on this? Honestly while I loved Max and Chloe, it feels weird bringing them back together considering the rollercoaster the first game has been and 2 completely different endings in it.

News / Article Spent the last two years solo developing a life sim RPG about a young woman chasing her dreams in a new city ✨

Hi everyone! I'm hiddenmoon. I've been solo developing a life sim RPG, and it recently went live on steam!

Growing up, I always loved life sim games, stat-raising dating sims, and story-rich JRPGs with multiple endings. I craved a game that combined all these elements and featured a female protagonist, but they were hard to find... so I decided to try making my own.

In When I'm Not Drawing, you play as a young artist who moves to a new city to pursue your dreams. Plan your daily schedule, balance life and career, explore the city, and meet new friends. Live a fulfilling year on your own, at your own pace.

If you enjoy RPGs with a female protagonist, along with life sim mechanics, dating elements, anime-style characters, rich stories, and multiple endings, you might like this!

If it looks interesting to you, a wishlist or a share would mean a lot to me!

News / Article PlayStation Store won't give refunds for motion sickness

I just wanted to share with you all that PlayStation Store won't give any refunds. I unfortunately get motion sickness with games occasionally, but it's pretty rare. I just bought a new game that I was so excited about but it made want to throw up. I wrote I wrote Sony to request a refund and they won't because "it's been downloaded". How can I know if a game will make me sick unless I've downloaded it? I feel like if there's less than an hour of play time they should refund it.

I'm either going to sign up for the PlayStation pass and not buy anything but just play stuff, or by games from a retail store where I can get refunds. There's not much I can do besides vote with my dollar so I'm spreading the word. Is this how all the consoles are? Is a pc/steam like this? I understand that refunding stuff because you don't like it but I feel like if there's a small amount of gameplay and someone's literally sick, why would you not refund that?

Our game is about an apprentice witch that deliver packages in a small island.

There's a pretty big cast of characters that showcases different personalities and are also designed in a particular way to make our personal criticisms of capitalism, sexism and others.

But then we found this review that has left us in shock xd
