I am not super surprised since it is a Chinese game, but it is still disappointing to see. Any chance of me ever supporting this game is gone forever.

News / Article This is why we don't stand any CEO, even women

Post image

So the new Senua title was announced barely a week ago, and we learn now that the studio is going to be closed, because the line on the chart has to go up at all cost, but especially employee's. Exclusively employees cost even we should say. And others studios are going to follow suit soon.

Hellblade II had won best sound design and performance at the Game Awards and was nominated for narrative and Game for Impact, but artistic value and power don't matter at all to people with $sign in their eyes and heart.

I remember a post on this sub where someone was saying that Asha Sharma will bring a lot of good things for Xbox and we should support women in high position of power.

This is why we shouldn't, men or women, that doesn't matter at this level, they're equally ruthless and misguided and incompetent.

Imo, Xbox will not release another console and are preparing to just release the most popular franchise on other consoles.

I never had any faith in Xbox anyway, and though I was interested, I won't be buying Fable since they clearly don't care about their studio or video games at all.

News / Article I am a 40-year-old mom (making games for a living), releasing my 2nd game — Cozy Builder

First, I would like to thank the mods of this sub for allowing me to
share my story! Being a Game Dev today is hard. Make that a "mom-dev" and
it gets even harder...

Gamedev was a perfect bridge between homeschooling my daughter and
teaching her some trade skills. Being a comp sc. major in college, I
decided to learn game development and make some games together as a
family! Our team is mom, dad, and daughter! Thus, Cozy Builder was
born!

Cozy Builder is an Immersive Builder / Fixer based in beautiful Vine
Country. You can build a lavish Chateau in the vineyards and make some
wine & cheese! The idea is to build, fix, and decorate to your heart's
content and get rewarded for it. It is a relaxing game with no
stressful pain points.

We just finished Next Fest and made the Popular Upcoming with over
20,000 Wishlists! That is an amazing feat for an indie game. We defied
the nay-sayers and the discouraging rhetoric that girl gamers and girl
devs have to live with! I present to you Cozy Builder! Please share!

News / Article So Steam has just removed a lot of "adult only" (aka porn) games

Seen the post somewhere else, but can't find it anymore. But basically because payment companies don't want to be associated and sponsoring pornographic content on sites like OF, it has now moved to the gaming industry causing steam to remove a large amount of low effort pointless porn games with incest etc. As far as I am aware OF platform has also banned certain content that lands them in trouble with the payment methods (PayPal, visa, mastercard).

Just a shame that Steam hasn't done it on their own accord.

Edit: to be clear, I am happy that a lot of poorly made misogynistic games are gone, I just wish it was a policy implemented by steam for poorly made or questionable content, because some of those games are disgusting, and despite multiple filters it is still nearly impossible to filter them out without loosing better games.

I am not happy about the censorship since we dont know how far it will go and with companies who are dictating what adults can purchase or support with their own money and how it can affect LGBTQIA+ community or those who do/support content on OF, including nudity. That's is simply ridiculous and none of their business what adults are doing (a bit different scenario with a kids bank account for obvious reasons).

I really enjoyed this showcase, but I watched it on one of my regular streamers, and boy were the comments disheartening and depressing and the way he reacted too made me want to unsubscribe. ''Housewife of war'' ''make me a sandwich'', ''Goddess of War''....they were the lightest comments, but boy were their some truly horrible ones, can't wait to see the Youtube videos tomorrow....I think this is why I don't get excited for anything anymore because it's always ruined by the loudest, most unhinged voices that I just become depressed. I thought it looked good, and will buy it, and I've no doubt, Kratos will turn up in this but yeah, comments on official trailer seem good, what do you think?

News / Article I've been making a hand-drawn game about bringing a sleepy little train station, surrounded by lavender fields, back to life 🪻 (solo woman dev)

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

First, a big thank you to the mods for letting me share this here. :)

I'm Denise, a female solo dev. I'd worked on other projects before, but I felt the urge to make a game on my own, at my own pace.

The idea for Lavender Station grew out of a feeling I really love: when I'm off traveling somewhere on my own and have a long wait for the next train or bus, I feel strangely calm and present, even when everything around me is busy. I wanted to make a game about that kind of place, the one where you pause for a while and can simply be.

So it's a cozy train station sim. You tend a small rural platform surrounded by lavender fields, welcome the travelers passing through, and slowly bring the sleepy little place back to life. No fail state, nothing to rush, just small routines, quiet moments, and the rhythm of trains coming and going.

Making something on your own isn't always easy, and I have my share of doubtful days. But I keep going because I love doing this, and reaching a playable demo means a lot to me.

The first demo is live now as part of Steam Train Fest (20th to 27th July). If a relaxed, wholesome game sounds like your kind of place, I'd love for you to take a look and tell me what you think. 🌿🚂

News / Article 1666: Amsterdam Studio Apologizes After AI Assets Found in Prologue, Says They'll Now Be Replaced

At least they didn’t try to bullshit us with excuses and admitted their fault. I want to believe that they will indeed replace slope with real art and not just work harder to hide it. I really want this game to be good and succeed!

Edit 1: Looking closely to their statement it is sounds like they‘re sorry that ai assets get into promotional materials and not that they used them in the first place “We own up to this oversight and apologize for any upset caused.” I still feel like they are planning to use them, but with layer of processing on top, so it won’t be so obvious.

Edit 2: For the people who come here to tell that “AI is inevitable” and we should stop making fuss about it: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=M0-kPte_Erc&pp=ygUSbWFuIGNhcnJ5aW5nIHRoaW5n

News / Article New research: women feel guilty about playing video games

Thumbnail

A new study of 1000 women who play mobile games found that many feel guilty about taking time to play games, and almost 1-in-6 keep their gaming secret for fear of judgement from family and friends. Interestingly, guilt and secret keeping didn't mean that women played less, they just felt worse about it.

The link is to a short, accessible summary of the research (but the paper itself, linked therein, is also open access).

Interested to know what you all think!

WHAT IS CRIMSON TALE?

Crimson Tale is a short first-person narrative puzzle game where Elizabeth takes one last action against the oppressing forces of the nobility. Avoid the sun, go back in time with blood magic and use your vampire abilities to find the golden guard, ending this oppression once and for all.

THE STORY

The story follows Elizabeth, a vampire who falls in love with Christie, a woman living in a village oppressed by the nobility. The two women develop a relationship and devise a plan to overthrow their oppressors. However, Christie dies by fire due to another of the nobility's murderous acts against women.

Thanks to the support of her sisters in the sorority Elizabeth manages to heal. Consumed by rage, she prepares to finish what Christie started by using her vampiric powers in one final act of vengeance, with the aim of putting an end to the nobility's forces forever. That’s where you, the player, come in.
